You can't just chug protein shakes and lounge on the couch all day expecting miracles... if you do, you're just gonna end up gaining fat instead of muscle. It’s got to be training plus protein, otherwise, you're wasting your time. You'll see actual results in about a month if you put in the work. Of course, it really depends on which supplement you're using, but as for Horse Power? For heaven's sake, don't touch that stuff unless you've been hitting the gym consistently for a while and actually know what you're doing! It won't kill you if you use it right—I'd say try it for a month, then take a month off to let your body reset.!!!!

I heard that if you take that Horse Power stuff, you start losing hair from your head.

Man, that horse power is just UNREAL... 🙂

I know typing on a phone is a total nightmare, but clearly, you just had to dive into this protein thread and start dropping advice from your mobile device because it was apparently some kind of emergency 🙂

Look, if you want a cappuccino, it’s gotta have that foam. If you want less froth next time, just grab a macchiato instead.

Peter Richardson6 said:I've been hitting the gym for about a year and a half now. When I first started, I was sitting at 158 lbs, but after I started messing with protein supplements, I've jumped up to 187 lbs—and honestly, I've picked up a bit of a gut that I definitely didn't have when I first walked through those gym doors. I started out using Gold's Gym, but then I switched over to Nike protein. Now I'm wondering, is this extra belly fat coming from the Nike stuff, or is there something else going on here?

It's the protein, man. Double your dose and you'll be looking like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Look, if you actually had any sense, you'd want it that way too. 🙂

Losing 5 pounds in 5 days? Please. If you're seeing that on the scale, it’s mostly just water weight, and honestly, if your scale isn't even calibrated right, you're just chasing ghosts. Everyone tells you the same thing, though—go get your hormone levels checked first before you drive yourself crazy.

And let’s get one thing straight: doing 150 crunches isn't some magic trick to melt fat away. You lose weight by eating less, plain and simple. Doing endless sit-ups is probably the least helpful thing you could do right now. Focus on running or some actual cardio instead.

😁 They’re way too intense, but honestly, that parody is just as ridiculous.

Honestly, you’re better off just heading down to Walmart, grabbing a six-pack of that premium organic milk, and using that to pump your gains instead.

Look, just give me one single scientific Reference proving that love potions aren't a thing.

Alright, look, I asked a legitimate question, so quit twisting my words with all this snark.

I want to find the actual studies where they tracked people who went 24 hours without eating versus people who ate normally for 24 hours. I want to see what the differences were—if there were any—and trust me, there definitely were.
Angela Wright said:There isn't actually any scientific proof for anything that "cleanses" the way you're thinking about.
Basically, if you eat sweets or sugar, your body just burns it off through physical activity. In that sense, what that other guy wrote is right. Just eat healthier and move more.

Look, I’ve actually read up on this—specifically regarding 24-hour water fasts. I read that it’s scientifically proven that detoxification occurs and anabolic hormone secretion gets a boost during a 24-hour fast. Anything longer than that, though, starts having negative effects. So, my plan is to have my last meal tonight at 8 PM and then not eat a single thing until 8 PM tomorrow, sticking strictly to water.

Now, since you're claiming there's nothing scientifically backed here, I'd really appreciate it if you could provide a Reference or maybe just explain your reasoning a bit better. I've been practicing these 24-hour fasts specifically because of the research I've come across.

Edit: And honestly, what does this have to do with an Alternative? We aren't talking about some magic crystal that miraculously heals you; we're discussing what happens physiologically when a person goes without food for 24 hours, or whether there are scientifically validated methods and tools to speed up the removal of toxins from the body. What's this whole "Alternative" thing even supposed to mean here...

Henry Evans3 said:you just have to accept that not everyone is up for a real conversation. Some people are just arrogant and dismissive, and honestly, that's all there is to it.😉

Don't let the nonsense get under your skin...🙂

Especially when you're dealing with people online. 😉

amberowl7 said:Look, I actually need to put on muscle mass... what do you mean "weight loss"? 🙂

Just eat a balanced diet and hit the gym. It's not like you absolutely have to eat sugar to function. 🙄

amberowl7 said:Man, when I look at it that way, it’s all just sugar!
And sugar is pure evil! 🤣
It definitely feels a little weird to me...

Give it a little while longer and you won't be able to find anything that isn't junk, so you might as well start training your body to handle the chaos now.😬 😛

amberowl7 said:So you mean there's almost twice as much sugar as protein?
Can you give me an idea of how many tablespoons that actually is?
Because I have no clue about grams... if 30g of protein is roughly 3 tablespoons... then how many tablespoons of sugar am I looking at alongside those 3 tablespoons of protein?

I honestly wouldn't know how many tablespoons that would be.🤷

Personally, I just grab some raisins after my workout—usually about 100 grams worth.

amberowl7 said:Now, just a total newbie question here...
If you're watching every single gram you put in your body... is it actually okay to have, like, almost 3 tablespoons of sugar every day?
I honestly don't get it... 😕

I mean, what’s the big deal with 50 grams? It's only about 200 calories.

As for the actual weight in grams, I never really bother tracking exactly how much of what I'm eating I'm consuming. I only know those 100 grams of raisins because I just eat the whole package and check the label once.

Olivia Robinson7 said:Someone please help me out here. I have some protein powder sitting around, but the expiration date is at the end of this month.
ARE THERE any actual side effects? Like, can I just keep using it regardless of the date on the tub?

Thanks in advance!

Look, you'll probably be fine, but those expiration dates aren't just there for decoration for a reason.

Nathan Howard75 said:Can I just ask... I don't bother with them because I'm seeing gains without any protein powder, okay? I mean, sure, maybe things would move faster if I used supplements, but honestly, I'm in no rush.

It’s because they absolutely wreck my digestion. I have no clue why, but whenever I drink them, I end up totally backed up for two days straight. Plus, the constant bloating and gas is just unbearable—I can't deal with that.

As far as progress goes, it's pretty much a wash whether you use them or not. You've got to realize that it's the exact same protein you're getting from actual food, so the results are identical. They're really just there for convenience—they're easy to whip up when you don't feel like cooking eggs or chicken or whatever.

Nathan Howard75 said:Is there actually anyone here who hits the gym regularly without touching protein shakes?

Yeah, I don't touch them, and honestly, I don't see myself ever starting again. 🙂
