Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
So, I went to see Dr. Pavičević over at Optisol on The Promenade for a full checkup. It was fine, I guess. She actually found a prescription for me, even though I honestly didn't think I needed glasses at all.
Hopefully, it helps you out too 😘
What could it be? in Health ·
Lucky you that nothing happened. Honestly, my mom just got diagnosed with glaucoma after telling her eye doctor she felt like her eyes were literally going to pop out of her head. I guess sometimes it’s actually worth getting those symptoms checked out by a professional (even though I’m pretty convinced most doctors are total hacks 🙄 — I mean, they know a decent amount, sure, but there's way more stuff they have absolutely no clue about 😬 )
Private clinics for gastroscopy? in Health ·
Not sure which city you’re asking about, but I headed over to Cleveland to see Dr. Venus Williams. My primary care doctor just couldn't figure out what was wrong with me; he spent a whole month messing around with useless tests instead of just giving me a referral to a specialist.

So, here’s my take on the private clinic experience:
It’s pretty fast—I had the initial exam, an ultrasound, and then the endoscopy all in the same day. The nurse was great, though; she gave me a quick rundown of what to expect and actually tried to cheer me up a bit. They gave me this injection that made my head spin for about an hour. It wasn't exactly fun—I felt incredibly nauseous and kept thinking, "Man, I hope this is over soon, because I feel like I'm dying." About thirty minutes after that, everything was done—diagnosis, meds, diet advice, the whole nine yards.
My throat didn't even hurt afterward, even though they warned me it might.

Now, I don't know much about getting treated at a public hospital through insurance, but it drives me crazy how they make you wait a month or more for appointments. You're sitting there in pain, but apparently, nobody cares. Plus, the staff isn't exactly warm; they tend to be pretty indifferent, and honestly, a little kindness goes a long way for me.
Specifically, a colleague told me her sister had the same procedure done—once at this private clinic and once at the hospital—and now she refuses to ever go back to the hospital. Apparently, they use a thicker tube there and the staff is way rougher with you.
Anyway, that's the gist of it. Hope that helps (or doesn't 😁 )
