Best blue light glasses for computer use? in Health ·
If you're looking for somewhere to get your eyes checked, I’d highly recommend checking out Glassworks over on 12th Street. It’s a pretty small shop, but don't let the size fool you—they’ve got a solid selection with plenty of options at all kinds of price points to suit whatever budget you're working with. One thing to keep in mind: if your lenses end up getting scratched (which can happen sometimes with certain coatings), they should swap them out for new ones since they apparently offer a one-year warranty. You definitely need to double-check that with them if you decide to head down there, though. Personally, I’m a regular at their shop and I swear by them every single time. I actually use their anti-reflective coatings myself, and honestly, I'm pretty sure they make a huge difference when you're staring at a computer screen all day. Anyway, hope that helps you out a bit.
Yeah, I’m right there with you on this one... I’ve been stuck in that exact same spot—dealing with being sick while trying to stay on top of work. Honestly, I lucked out working for my family’s business, so I can take it easy when things get rough. But seriously, the silver lining here is that I’ve actually been somewhat dependent on others for a while now. It makes you think about how employers, clients, and even people you barely know view you when they have to deal with you because of circumstances beyond your control. I’m glad we’re at least having a real conversation about this here. One thing I’ve realized is that living in America feels like we're living in Switzerland sometimes... everything is insanely expensive, especially when you look at healthcare. If we were lucky, maybe our salaries would actually match those Swiss levels. It’s terrifying! In this country, it’s all about the money. If someone gets sick, God forbid, they better be prepared for the massive bill that comes with it. It basically means that once you're done dealing with the illness (if you're lucky enough to recover), you might as well just head straight to a local county hospital and sign up as a new patient.
Exactly, feralgardener11, that's my take too (saw it on the news)... and I can personally vouch for what they said about it being an hour-long $2.75... though if we misheard the broadcast, well, don't kill the messenger. 😁
Look, you and your buddy can shake hands on this one... regarding that specific point
It’s almost a death sentence when nobody takes anything seriously.

...Now, I’m not saying I was literally dying or anything, but if you want the truth, most of the doctors I saw were completely checked out. It’s a fact. Because of those doctors, my condition actually got way worse. Now I’m stuck bouncing from specialist to specialist—mostly private clinics, obviously—which means I'll be shelling out a fortune for surgeries, treatments, and whatever else comes up. Bottom line? My experience hasn't been exactly stellar. What I have learned, though, is that having family and real friends by your side when things hit the fan is everything. You need a solid circle of people to give you honest advice (on doctors, tests, etc.), deep pockets, and a whole lot of mental toughness...
At the end of the day, I thank God that your colleague is doing okay now... that's really all that matters.

Exactly... My cousin actually suggested I give it a shot, and I was just like, "Are you kidding me?" She looked at me like I was crazy—as if I wouldn't know about this stuff. It’s been used since our grandmothers' era, for crying out loud. Then her friend chimes in and confirms it, then an old buddy of hers does the same... before you know it, you've got a hundred people all talking about it. And all that time, she lived in total ignorance. It’s wild how much you can miss out on without even realizing it.

Sophia Moore28 said:Aloe vera is the absolute best!!! I actually burned my arm pretty badly about two years ago on a wood-burning stove—it was nasty, stretching from my shoulder almost all the way down to my elbow. The skin literally peeled off, just gross, and obviously left a huge scar while everything was trying to heal. I stuck with applying aloe religiously for maybe a couple of weeks, and honestly, after just one week, I could already see things getting better. After a month, I stopped using it, the skin tanned up a bit in the sun, and now you can't even tell there was ever anything there!
Thank God for aloe! 👍 👍

👍 That's awesome! You really went through the wringer there... but thank God everything turned out fine in the end. I’ve always been fascinated by this whole herbalism and plant-based stuff. Most people think it's a total waste of time because you don't see immediate results, but if you're actually disciplined about it, the payoff is incredible. For me...

...if they're relatively "fresh," you might want to try using Contractol cream, but you really have to be persistent with it... honestly, the tube is tiny and definitely isn't cheap, but since it’s incredibly greasy, there's no point in slathering it on thick... just apply it directly to the scar site, and make sure you don't use it if there are any scabs or open wounds
Oh, and I just remembered something else... give calendula oil or St. John's Wort oil a shot too. It's the same deal, though—since you're dealing with herbal remedies, consistency is everything. If it worked for my chickenpox scars, trust me on this... 😁

Someone should probably ask her what she actually needs it for...
Did your friend even have symptoms first, or did she just decide on a whim to go get an MRI???

If you’re talking about my post regarding paying out-of-pocket for an MRI... here’s the deal. I was asking for myself. To be honest, not a single specialist I’ve seen so far—and trust me, I’ve seen plenty—would authorize an MRI. I’m at the point where I’m ready to just lose my mind dealing with these hospital systems and just pay privately for the scan and treatments. Even my own doctor told me straight up that we absolutely need to do an MRI because my condition isn't improving at all, regardless of whatever therapy I try. But since this doctor is in private practice too, his recommendation doesn't carry much weight with the insurance companies; I still have to go through a specialist and practically beg them to approve it. I’m not about to do that, though, because this whole situation regarding my health has become way too complicated—all thanks to these "top-tier" specialists who are supposedly so great. Unfortunately, when stuff like this hits you, you realize how much our country is basically in a coma. They always seem to obsess over minor bureaucratic nonsense instead of focusing on basic, essential care...
Sorry for the massive wall of text... I just felt the need to vent a bit about my miserable experience...

Look, I’ve got a few questions regarding an MRI, and if anyone could point me in the right direction, I’d really appreciate it. Honestly, given how much our healthcare system struggles, it feels like you either need serious political connections or you have to be on the brink of death just to get a specialist to actually bother looking at you and ordering an MRI. Apparently, since they're such a massive expense for the hospital, they only approve them in "extreme cases."
Basically, I want to know what a knee MRI runs you in terms of cash, and how long the waitlist is if I decide to just go private.
