Just walking down to City Hall, talking to the cops, maybe catching some local musicians... honestly, if the pansy protection association can find the backbone to pull together a protest, then why can't the Boys step up? It wouldn't even be that complicated... you just announce a collection during a big derby, pass a bucket around the stands, and suddenly you've got the funds for a massive demonstration. And let's be real, a protest isn't exactly breaking the bank; most of the budget goes toward paying the bands anyway. If our guys find it too much of a struggle to get five songs played for their own club—and they're asking for a fortune to make it happen—then we should probably just find some hungry local garage band that would play for nothing more than a couple of burgers and some beers... there are tons of young kids out there just itching for a chance to prove themselves on a real stage... a little improvisation might go a long way...
The protest really ought to happen over at Ban Jelačić Square or maybe even up by Markov Square... because honestly, around here, politics and football are so tangled up together it’s almost impossible to tell where one ends and the other begins. I mean, look at it this way—an Englishman wouldn't feel the need to show up at Theresa May's doorstep just because things aren't going his way at his local club, but for us, it feels like we actually have to march right up to the front doors of people like Plenković and Bandić just to be heard...
Look, regarding this whole "beans and unions" business... the whole point of that kind of thing is to pull in as many people as possible. That’s exactly why the Boys have never managed to get more than a thousand people out for a protest. I remember back when they had speakers and music down at the Waterfront—it was all about those big themes and rallying cries—and they managed to pull in 50,000 people who sent a message that resonated across the entire country... You guys seem to be under the impression that tens of thousands of people are just going to show up at your doorstep to scream about wormwood and some headless tycoon like Mamić... It isn't going to happen because regular people want a civilized protest. If you don't actually care about building a real movement, then fine, I guess we just have to accept that the Boys will never be able to gather more than a thousand people at any rally...
So, I was just sitting here thinking about this other thing... another question for the group, really... looking back over the last decade or so, does anyone actually remember what the biggest turnout was for the Boys at a single protest? It’s funny how those crowds swell up and then just vanish, but I can't quite wrap my head around the peak numbers from any one of their demonstrations lately...
I’m not even talking about those little organized marches they pull off right before a derby or some massive high-stakes match... I mean actual, legitimate protests. Honestly, was that turnout ever even in the four digits? And really, who should we be pointing the finger at because, after ten years of Mamić running things like a tyrant, they couldn't manage to rally more than a thousand people at a single protest? Who’s the one to blame here? Well, I definitely have my own theory on where the fault lies... It might be a bit late for regrets now, but looking back six or seven years ago, there was plenty of opportunity to mobilize a massive crowd if only the core leadership of the Bad Boys had possessed the genuine will, the tactical know-how, and the actual ability to lead...
It’s time for someone else to step up and take the lead, just like I told you before... so go ahead and give it a shot, if you really think that whole situation isn't just total nonsense...
I’m only asking this rhetorically, really... because I already know you won't do it, since you'd much rather just sit back and let someone else handle all the heavy lifting...
Well, it's certainly that simple... at least when you're the one saying it...
It felt like there were easily over a thousand people there at one point... though I can't say for sure who exactly was in the mix, or even precisely when or where it all went down...
It’s pretty obvious you haven't got the slightest clue what's actually going on here...
I mean, honestly, if you really stop to think about what those protests down on the Waterfront actually shifted or changed... it’s hard to say for sure, isn't it? It feels like one of those moments where everything moves at once, yet somehow nothing settles into place... you look at the crowds and the noise, and then you look at the actual landscape of things, wondering if the dust has even begun to settle on the status quo...
There you go again, making it look easy... honestly, I can't tell if you're just naturally gifted or if you're just being lazy about it, because even someone with half your coordination could probably pull off what the pansy protection association manages to do on a regular basis...
