Gotta admit, that sounds pretty insane to me...😕
If that's the case, my bad, whatever...😬

it didn't cross that magic $100 million line on the stock market 🙂
😂 Is the stock market Scotland or Australia?
We were talking about the budget, you know, the cash put into the movie. And Braveheart crushed it.... 😛
I'm with redowl90, in that kind of grouping, BH is a "must be". Too much blood spilled for the movie not to make money 😁
I disagree. Just because a movie is chasing an Oscar doesn't mean it stops being a blockbuster. Not sure how you see it, but in my book, any flick with a $100M budget qualifies as a blockbuster...
Alright redowl90, you're kind of overthinking it, but you nailed one thing... blockbusters are trash! Sure, there are decent exceptions, but 90% of what they spend money on is garbage.
Still, we're the ones mostly to blame for actually watching that junk...🙂
Out of the movies you mentioned, I'd say The Rock (even if the hunt was terrible), X-Men, and Spider-Man are alright. You could find a million flaws in any of them, but let's not go there. Same goes for Titanic—don't want to hurt anyone's 😁
But honestly, the best blockbuster ever, no contest, is Braveheart! A total masterpiece. Not sure if the OP will be annoyed by the lack of special effects, but whatever..

Exactly... stop nitpicking over every little thing. People love to complain that characters aren't deep enough or everything is too cliché. Look, if they kill off enough people, blow up enough buildings, and the theater is packed... then it works. Just accept them for what they are: popcorn flicks. No need to treat them like masterpieces.
Fine, I’m glad I (for now) took the win for WotW, but this whole debate is pointless and stupid. Both movies suck.
And regarding the discussion about Spielberg—that feels off too. He’s a director for the masses, plain and simple. He knows exactly when to drop a movie to grab global attention. Combine that with a massive marketing machine, and you've got a nightmare combo. It all just depends on which themes hit you. Talking about him like some high-brow artist and comparing him to Bergman is a total miss. That was never his goal; he’s always been about the money. I'm not saying all his films are trash, but most of them are...

Exactly... I'm thinking they’ll just dump Ronaldo, and some massive club from Qatar will probably snap him up instead. 😁😁
