An LDL level of 3.6 isn't actually that high; generally, you want to see total cholesterol stay under 200 mg/dL. My doctors used to insist that stress and cholesterol levels had absolutely nothing to do with each other, but if you ask me, my numbers are driven by two things and two things only: stress and cigarettes. I’m at a healthy weight, I’ve never been one for greasy fast food, and there’s zero history of heart issues in my family. Honestly, my only "vice" was having a bit too much chocolate and sweets now and then. It was wild, though—my cholesterol plummeted the moment I quit smoking, but as soon as I picked up the habit again, the numbers spiked right back up, even though I was being incredibly careful about what I ate.
Target levels: Total Cholesterol < 100 mg/dL
Triglycerides < 135 mg/dL
HDL > 50 mg/dL
LDL 88–130 mg/dL

If we’re just looking at total cholesterol, hitting a 115 isn't exactly a disaster.
I actually managed to drop my own total cholesterol by 40 points in just three weeks. My go-to routine was eating one grapefruit a day, sipping on green tea, and adding some garlic and apple cider vinegar into the mix. I found it really helps to structure your meals—start the day with fruit, move to whole grains, and then you can figure out lunch as you go. You don't need to overdo it on chicken either; honestly, switching over to mostly fish makes a huge difference. Just keep in mind that diet isn't everything; genetics plays a massive role in how these numbers shake out.

I’m not actually scared of the biopsy itself, but honestly, the whole "hospital circuit" is just exhausting. I’ll get my ultrasound results this Friday, and I’m 99% sure everything is going to be fine—I really don't want to start spiraling or panicking. That tiny 1% sliver of doubt comes from seeing my grandma and my aunt go through surgery for this exact thing. Here is what the mammogram says:

There is approximately 1 cm in size well circumscribed low density nodule seen in the inferior portion of the right breast posteriorly, which I think represent small cyst.
No soft tissue mass, spiculated lesion or malignant calcifications are seen in the right or left breast on the present examination, which would be suspicious of carcinoma.

If it turns out to be just a cyst, how often should I be getting mammograms? Isn't doing one every year—which is pretty standard—actually bad for you because of the radiation exposure?

If both my mammogram and ultrasound show nothing but a standard cyst with no other red flags, is a biopsy actually necessary? I realize a needle biopsy is the only way to be 100% certain, but I’m really curious about what you all have gone through. I might have missed some of this if it was mentioned earlier, but I didn't quite catch everything.

People are out here claiming "Ian Moj plagiarism." Honestly, if you just go back and listen to Balaban’s very first track, you can make up your own mind about that.
