Dealing with hemorrhoids in Health ·
Sandra Baker35 said:Where exactly are these anal fissures located? And what kind of symptoms are we talking about... a dull ache or something sharp? For me, there's this constant burning sensation... though my primary care doctor told me nothing looks suspicious. She just noted one "prolapsed" hemorrhoid... whatever that's supposed to mean.
The pain isn't quite as intense as it used to be, but I'm still living in fear that it’ll all come rushing back.

I suspect the larger one is roughly 2 inches from the end of the rectum; there's zero chance of seeing it without a proctoscope.
My doctor mentioned these are likely old scars and the chances of them healing are slim, but since miracles happen, she suggested I keep trying some ointments.🤷

As for symptoms, it's a dull ache that lasts all day—especially while sitting—and then a sharp sting during bowel movements. There were moments when the pain was so bad I thought I might lose my mind; I felt completely helpless.😢 No bleeding on my end.
I did notice things take a turn for the worse once a month, usually about a week before my period starts.

Things improved significantly after I started drinking at least 2 liters of water a day and making sure to go for a walk every single day. 3.1 miles(I've scaled back the walking lately; those 3.1 miles walks were mostly when I was on vacation), plus I started using bran which really helped soften things up. I've also avoided spicy foods and cut my coffee intake down to just one cup a day.

I have a feeling I might be dealing with internal ones too. It’s incredibly painful during bowel movements, so does anyone have any advice on what to do? What’s the most effective way to treat internal hemorrhoids? I tried using Faktu ointment, but it didn't really do much for me. 😢 Thanks

Jonathan Long4, your best bet is to see a proctologist to find out exactly what you're dealing with. 😉

I was in pain for about 3 or 4 months. I went through a mountain of creams and suppositories (the Hadensa stuff from the pharmacy near Pike Place Market worked best because of the cooling effect).

In the end, I just called a private specialist. The doctor told me to use two glycerin suppositories in the evening to clear everything out, and then show up for the exam the next morning.

They use this specific support—not exactly a chair, more like a specialized rest where you stand, pull down your clothes, and lean over it while they perform the rectoscopy. It stung a little bit, but honestly, nothing compared to the pain of actually going to the bathroom.
It was over so fast that the awkwardness wasn't even a major issue. 🙂

I have internal hemorrhoids and three anal fissures—two small ones and one larger one 😢. Those tiny tears were actually causing constant itching, and I mistakenly thought it was just the hemorrhoids.

The doctor suggested surgery if things don't improve within a month. It’s been nearly three months now; I’ve been using St. John's Wort oil, and while it isn't perfect, it is better.

If it doesn't get better, I'll just go ahead with the surgery. There's no other choice; I can't live like this. 🤷

Maybe a pathologist will weigh in and finally explain the exact process they use for them.

And honestly, I’m not convinced they’d hand her over to you, me, or anyone else specifically—but I don't see any reason why they wouldn't, do you?

I find it hard to believe that people here actually sell or use it for cosmetic purposes; our beauty industry just isn't quite at that level yet.

In Europe, I know they’ll provide it upon request. Some people actually plant a tree when a child is born and bury the placenta near the roots to nourish the soil. If the baby is born in the winter, they’ll keep it in a freezer until it's time to plant. Or, if they don't have a yard, they just put it in a flowerpot.

As for our local laws, I'm not entirely sure. I wouldn't be surprised if the hospital refused to let you take it home in the first place. 😕
Betty Bennett10, I honestly don't think you can lump people fighting cancer or some other terminal illness—families who would move mountains just to get a chance—into the same category as someone getting their tonsils out.
And if that smiley face is judging me based solely on my friend's experience... well, maybe they're coming at me from a different angle, but that was simply the reality of the situation, unfortunately.
Betty Bennett10 said:A side note: watch your step with certain doctors. There are those who will literally kick you out of the exam room if you try to "show your gratitude" with some symbolic little gift. So, proceed with caution. 😁

It’s true they’re in the minority, but they definitely exist.
Having spent a fair amount of time in hospitals lately—whether I was the patient or just there for testing—I’ve run into a few doctors who went above and beyond. Whether it was a bit of solid advice, a helpful recommendation, or taking actual decisive action...
Mostly, it was the younger ones who showed some genuine goodwill. 🙂

Richard Perez3, I don't think you need to worry too much.👋
Richard Perez3, I had my fibroid surgery three weeks ago. I scheduled everything with my surgeon a month and a half in advance, and at no point did the doctor or any staff hint that there was a "fee" required to move things along.
On the flip side, a friend's mother was recently diagnosed with colon cancer. They were told she wouldn't be seen at the hospital for another two months. When you're facing something like that, two weeks feels like an eternity, let alone two months. They had a blunt conversation with the doctor, handed over $1,000 under the table, and she was admitted to the ward the very next day.
I don't blame them for paying a bribe. They were reeling from the diagnosis and felt backed into a corner with no other options. And honestly, if they had actually reported the doctor, given how our legal system works... 😢
