So, I was on 25 mg of Zoloft for three weeks, then bumped it up to 50 mg, which I've been doing for about 17 days now. Things were actually looking up for a bit—my appetite came back, those massive panic attacks finally chilled out, and even my OCD settled down a little. Then, out of nowhere yesterday morning, I got hit with such a brutal panic attack that I literally couldn't move. It was paralyzing. I barely made it through the day, and now it’s happening again tonight...
How is this even possible?! Is there any chance it's because I haven't had my Zoloft since I started taking Halel, which I only picked up three days ago?!
I feel like I'm poisoning myself and my kid, and the panic is just right back where it started...
Day 27 on Zoloft and honestly? Nothing. It’s actually getting worse. A few days ago I even bumped up to the full 50 mg pill. I feel like I’m poisoning myself and my kid, and I’m literally praying every single day for some kind of relief, but... nothing. Zip. Zero. My psychiatrist keeps insisting things will eventually turn a corner... Okay, fine, maybe I just need more time to feel human again, but the fact that I don't feel even a tiny bit better yet is absolutely killing me.

Besides Zoloft, you've got Luxe, Celexa, and Haleu. They're all sertraline, just different manufacturers... I've been on 0.25mg of Zoloft for over 3 weeks now, and for the last 3 days, I bumped it up by another quarter of 0.25... Still feeling absolutely nothing.
James Foster4 said:I took it back in 2012 for about eight months, but I didn't need it after that. I was going through a really rough patch at the time—dealing with the loss of my parents—and it helped me quite a bit. So, I'd maybe suggest being patient... I haven't actually taken any antidepressants before or since then, but now I'm thinking about trying this newer one, Brintellix, just to see if it can help lift my mood a little...
Man, I am so sorry about your folks. Finding the right med is such a nightmare. I used to take Prozac and it was fine, but I was on it for years and eventually, it just stopped doing anything for me. Then I tried Faverin and Cipralex... honestly, they were meh. Now they've got me on Zoloft because I'm pregnant... but yeah, I've been taking it for three weeks now and I don't feel a single thing changing...
James Foster4 said:About three years ago, I was on Zoloft for eight months, and I think it took almost three full months before I actually started feeling a difference...
Has anyone here tried Brintellix? Apparently, it's one of those newer ones on the market—does anyone have any experience with it?
Thanks for getting back to me. So, why'd you stop taking the Zoloft?
Hey everyone! So, it’s been 3 weeks since I started on Zoloft—just half a 50 mg pill a day so far. Honestly? Not feeling any better. Zero movement. Starting tomorrow, I’m bumping it up to the full tablet... Is it too early to expect anything after just 3 weeks?!
So, my mom passed away yesterday.. Usually, when stuff like this hits, I’m an absolute wreck—stomach knots, heart racing, total panic mode... But this time? I didn't feel a single thing. Just nothing. Is it actually possible that after being on antidepressants for 12 years, I've just gone totally numb and lost the ability to feel anything at all?
Roger Scott17 said:Listen, if you haven't slipped into psychosis by now, you aren't going to. Your doctors would have caught those signs way earlier and adjusted your treatment plan differently if that were happening. Seriously though—take everything you've shared here and lay it all out for your psychiatrist. They’re going to have much better tools and actual medical strategies for handling these panic attacks and social anxiety than anyone on a random internet forum ever could! Just please, don't give up on yourself—and definitely keep showing up to your therapy sessions, because I really think that's going to be the game-changer for you.
I am telling my psychiatrist all of this... It's just that I still want to hear from people who have actually been through the ringer. Maybe someone has some real-world advice on how to just survive this crap...
Roger Scott17 said:It’s gonna kick in soon, trust me. Every single morning when you roll out of bed, just tell yourself—"Starting today, things are looking up... and every day is getting better and better." You've gotta convince your subconscious that this medication is doing its job and helping you more every single day—don't let those old anxieties keep nagging at you! Show your subconscious who's actually running the show here. You've totally got this! Just remember that fear is basically just a mental illusion—if you let it take the driver's seat, it’s just going to keep circling back to haunt you. So don't throw in the towel! Believe in yourself and your ability to kick this anxiety to the curb. 👍
Ugh, seriously, I feel like I've tried everything... But when I wake up hitting a wall of panic attacks and depression, and there's this constant urge to just scream my head off... I honestly start worrying I'm losing my mind or sliding into some kind of psychosis.
Roger Scott17 said:It’s totally possible. Seriously, listen to your doctor. Twelve days is basically nothing when you're waiting for these things to kick in. I'm not sure which anxiolytic you're taking or what your specific limit is while pregnant, but that might help bridge the gap until the antidepressant starts doing its thing. Just follow your medical team's lead—managing anxiety and depression during pregnancy is a whole different ballgame. People on this forum can try to help, obviously, but we can't give you the full picture because of your situation. Also, just keep in mind that it's not just about the anxiety; you've got those pregnancy hormones throwing everything out of whack, too! Hang in there—it'll get better once the medication settles in. Don't stress over the exact timeline; just trust that it's working. You've got this! Good luck! 👍
Thanks so much. She prescribed me Normabel, but I haven't touched it because my conscience is killing me and I'm worried about how it interacts with my Prozac. I'm just constantly spiraling, wondering when the meds will kick in or if they even will at all...
Day 12 on Zoloft. Honestly? It’s just getting worse by the hour. My psychiatrist is basically telling me to white-knuckle it for at least three weeks to see if anything sticks. But seriously... is it actually possible for this stuff to do absolutely nothing at all yet?!
Gregory Jackson3 said:Greetings, everyone. I find myself in a bit of a predicament. Roughly two months ago, I made the decision to discontinue my treatment with Luxete, as it felt as though it was systematically dismantling every aspect of my well-being. After allowing for a two-month hiatus to attempt some semblance of stabilization, I have recently been prescribed an alternative, Citram. However, upon reviewing the clinical descriptions provided in the patient information leaflet, I am struck by a rather unsettling realization: the listed side effects appear to be identical to those caused by that wretched Luxete.😢
I suppose I am reaching out to see if anyone here has experience with this particular medication. Is this simply the same chemical entity masquerading under a different name, or is there any genuine difference between them?
What kind of side effects were you getting from Luxete? I just started taking Zoloft six days ago and I feel absolutely miserable...
Day 5 on Zoloft. Just tried to go for a quick walk to clear my head, but I could barely even move because there’s this weird pressure behind my eyes. It feels like I can't focus on anything—honestly, it's like my eyes don't even belong to me.
Is this what derealization feels like? And can Zoloft actually pull this kind of stunt?
The thing is, I'm 20 weeks pregnant and my conscience is absolutely eating me alive because of this Zoloft, so now I'm terrified of touching any Xanax... Honestly, I popped a 0.25 Misar yesterday and it did zero for me, so I figured if the anxiety meds aren't even working, why bother poisoning myself for nothing?
I know, I know—taking ADs while pregnant isn't exactly winning any prizes, but I was hitting a breaking point. The panic attacks were just getting too intense to handle...
Richard Diaz50 said:The Zoloft worked wonders for me initially. Though, after maybe just a single pill, I did start feeling those side effects—roughly in the same ballpark as what you're describing. You have to keep in mind that it's just part of the process, I suppose... my body has adjusted by now, though I still get these little waves of discomfort periodically after a certain dose, but once they pass, I feel totally renewed. If it helps at all, it will pass 🙄 I’ve also found that it works much better if I take it at night—maybe even right before bed. I don't have those dark, existential thoughts about life 😁, I sleep more soundly, and I feel fine the entire next day. So, perhaps that might be worth a try?
But if you're truly feeling this bad, why not check in with your doctor?
So, I started taking half of a 50 mg Zoloft pill about four days ago. Yesterday was rough, but today? Today is straight-up killing me!!! I’ve seriously never felt this bad in my entire life... I feel like I'm actually going to crawl out of my own skin. I even popped an unspecified 0.25, but it did absolutely nothing for me!!! Are these kinds of brutal side effects actually normal?! I am low-key freaking out here....
I know Halea is basically just Sertraline, similar to Zoloft. But does it actually hit the same way as Zoloft?
I'm five months pregnant and my panic attacks have been absolutely brutal lately. My OB-GYN and my psychiatrist finally teamed up and agreed I should start an antidepressant—specifically Zoloft, since it’s supposedly the safest bet. I haven't even taken the first pill yet because I am low-key terrified of how it's going to make me feel.
To make matters worse, my doctor prescribed Haleu instead because Zoloft is totally out of stock everywhere. Now I'm spiraling.
I somehow managed to drag myself to the 20-week mark of pregnancy, but I'm still hitting a wall...
Since Fevarin and Cipralex didn't really sit right with me in the past, my psychiatrist is suggesting I give Zoloft a shot (he says it's okay during pregnancy and supposedly has the fewest side effects)...
So, instead of spending hours digging through old forums, does anyone here actually have experience using Zoloft?
I used to get these massive panic attacks while on Lexapro. Like, seriously intense stuff. I spent the whole time just waiting for it to finally kick in, but honestly? It never really did. I never felt right on it.
I’ve seen plenty of women on these forums who were taking both antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds while pregnant, and they all say the same thing—they had perfectly healthy babies. Like, totally fine, healthy kids. Everything looks great on paper: perfect health scores, hitting all the milestones, sleeping through the night, eating well... you name it. But how are we supposed to know if that same kid isn't going to run into issues down the road because of those meds their mom was on? Honestly, I'm terrified, and I'm just constantly fighting this internal battle about it.
