So, I finally got my hands on the pharmacologist's report. It’s like three whole pages of jargon, but honestly, who has the time? I’m just gonna dump the conclusion right here and see what you guys think:
If the psychiatrist thinks medication is absolutely necessary to manage the patient's panic attacks, I’d suggest either Mirtazapine (categorized as B3 under standard US classifications) or Escitalopram—since the patient has already used this SSRI before and it kept things under control. Just a heads-up though: both Mirtazapine and Escitalopram can lead to withdrawal symptoms in newborns, and with SSRIs, there’s also a risk of persistent pulmonary hypertension. If the mother's clinical situation allows for it, these meds should be tapered off gradually during the final stage of pregnancy. For benzodiazepines, I’d recommend Diazepam, and even then, only at the lowest possible dose, strictly as needed. As for the usual risk of congenital anomalies—which sits around 1-3% in our population—using Mirtazapine, Escitalopram, or Diazepam shouldn't bump those numbers up any higher.
I already posted about anxiety, but figured I’d drop a line here too just in case! 😀 So, I went to see a clinical pharmacologist to figure out which med is actually safe to take while pregnant, and they told me Calixta is the way to go. I’ve seen a few people mention it on here already, but honestly, I’m still just trying to gather as much intel as possible. 😀 Thanks in advance, guys.
My stepcousin’s had a rough run lately—lost her mom, her dad, and her sister all within just a few months. It was brutal. Naturally, she spiraled into this constant state of anxiety and nerves. She’s been seeing psychiatrists left and right, basically cycling through every med on the pharmacy shelf, and honestly? She says the only thing that actually touches the nerve is Misar.
So, she’s 58 years old and has basically decided this is her life now—she’ll take it whenever she needs to and just accept that she can't function without it anymore. Okay. Whatever.
So, she finally hit the 1.5 mg daily mark. She was taking two 0.25 mg pills—splitting them up between morning, afternoon, and night—and honestly, that dose kept her running smooth for the last two or three years.
So, about a month ago, her primary doctor switched her over to Misar 1 mg SR. They told her she only needs to take it once in the morning and once at night. Apparently, they didn't see the point in letting her poison herself with six pills a day when she can get the job done with just two. 🙂 Makes total sense to me too...
But seriously, she’s telling me she feels like she’s in a total coma right now. Like, Misar isn't even doing anything for her at all. The anxiety keeps slamming back, the panic attacks are hitting, and she’s terrified to even step outside and face people—she just wants to rot in bed all day. She told her doctor about it, and honestly? He totally lost his mind. He basically told her she was making it all up, claiming that regular Misar and Misar SR are the exact same thing. He actually had the nerve to say the only difference is that the standard one hits you instantly while the other one just releases slowly throughout the day. Unbelievable.
She only told me because she knows I've actually been through this before. 🙂 Honestly, I think her whole meltdown is actually spot on... What do you guys reckon?
zvonx78;52974397 said:The 🙂 from Dormicum was a total zero for me. They had to hit me with three different injections just to get me under in the OR. After the second one, everyone was staring at me because I was still wide awake, then the anesthesiologist basically goes, "Yeah, she needs more." Honestly? Best feeling ever. One second you're there, the next—blackout, sweet dreams, done. 🙂
Wait, which antipsychotic are we talking about here?
So, I finally got off the phone with my psychiatrist. First move? He’s sending me to see a clinical pharmacologist to figure out exactly how much Zoloft and Cipralex will mess with things during pregnancy.
And if things stay this absolutely miserable after the baby arrives, he’s looking at adding Zyprexa to the Cipralex mix.
Has anyone actually dealt with that combo before? Any takers?
David Jackson22 said:Man, I am so sorry you're going through this. I know it probably feels impossible to believe right now, but things really will get better—you just have to white-knuckle it through this part, and honestly, that's the absolute worst stretch. Are you seeing a therapist or anything? Getting some professional help could really make a difference in helping you navigate this mess.
Every single day I find myself hoping things will turn around and I won't need meds anymore, but man... it is SO hard.
I'm seeing a psychiatrist, but since it's through my insurance, it's basically just a glorified check-in. No real talking involved. I tell her how I'm feeling, she gives me some bullet points of "professional advice," and we're done. It's pretty useless. I even tried seeing her privately before, but honestly? I still walked away feeling like she just didn't get me at all...
David Jackson22 said:Hey, how's it going, Kimberly Morris?
I'm basically a walking zombie... Still throwing up, and these panic attacks are hitting harder every single day. To top it all off, I caught a nasty cold too. Honestly, I'm terrified. I'm scared I'm actually losing my mind, that I'll spiral during labor, or that I'll end up doing something crazy to my baby. I'm spiraling, thinking they'll lock me up in some mental asylum because I won't even recognize myself or know what I'm doing anymore. It’s just... it's nightmare fuel. I'm fighting so hard, but man, it is brutal.

Honestly, I'm just done with fighting myself constantly. Part of me just wants to crawl back under the covers and cry, but then there's this mountain of stuff I actually need to get done. Yesterday, I finished off the rest of my Prozac, and man, it was rough. I managed maybe two hours of solid sleep, and everything else after that was just these pathetic thirty-minute naps where I'd wake up every single hour. I'm exhausted. My brain won't shut up—just running a million different scenarios on loop, overanalyzing every little thing from a million different angles. How did things get this bad? Why am I doing this to myself?
I totally hear you. I went through the exact same thing, honestly way worse than what you're dealing with right now. I was on Fevarin and it did absolutely nothing for me. My shrinkica kept insisting I give it more time, saying it was the perfect fit for my issues. I wasted nine whole months suffering like that before she finally pulled the plug on the Fevarin and switched me over to Cirpalex. If you need to vent, hit me up in the DMs. Hang in there!

I knocked back my little dose of Mirzaten and slept for 15 hours straight. Finally feeling like a functional human being again🙂
I went through something almost identical to you. I was on Fluval 20 mg every single day for over a year. Honestly, I didn't even graduate until I finally got off it, and then just two months later, I landed a job. At first, everything was golden, but once my manager gave me a raise because she loved my work right out of the gate, some jealous coworkers started playing dirty. I spiraled again and ended up back on Fluval. If I hadn't, who knows? I probably would've lashed out at someone or done something stupid to myself 🙂
I know Fluval is one thing and your Mirzaten is another, but if you're only taking 1/6 of a pill, that seems like such a tiny dose... honestly, is it even worth the struggle?
I really think you’ll crush it at this new job, make some actual friends, and eventually reach a point where you don't even need that 1/6 anymore.
George Clark19 said:Hey, I’ve got a question for the group here. How many of you guys actually pair your meds with psychotherapy? If you do, what kind of therapy are we talking about? And if you aren't doing it—why not? Just curious to see how everyone else is playing it.
I don't even know if I can call what I'm doing therapy...
I see this psychiatrist who basically cuts me off the second I start talking, then she just launches into her own monologue about how everything is "all in my head" and how I can handle things on my own. She's super intense, probably trying to "keep me grounded" or whatever, but honestly, I've never felt better after one of her sessions. Like, never. She treats me like I just need a little boost in self-esteem, which is a joke. When I was at my absolute worst—barely able to breathe, walk, or talk, let alone dealing with those intrusive thoughts where I'm terrified I'll hurt someone—I couldn't even get out of bed for days. So yeah, I'm thinking about ditching her. Surely there's someone out there who actually listens and gives a damn... 🤔
restlesstrucker15;52826897 said:Just giving a heads up on my situation—surgery is in ten days. The anesthesiologist told me today that I can take Xanax the day before. Then they’ll give me 15 mg of Doriden at night, even though I mentioned I've been on it for a long time. My big worry is whether it’s actually gonna knock me out 😢 She said she doesn't mess around when it comes to Samuel. And then right before the surgery, more Doriden at 7.5. I might beg my therapist to give her a call, but honestly, I don't know how she'd even get me to sleep since I need to be totally sharp by morning for the anesthesia. I can't be wandering around like a zombie because of Callista or whatever 😢 What a damned day it was when I accidentally took the Doriden instead of the Samuel. I tried asking for two pills, but she won't budge—she already gave me the whole 😁 set.
So, what are you having operated on?
My brother-in-law is an anesthesiologist, so I can hit him up for a second opinion if you want?
Ever since I started dealing with this illness, I've been terrified of surgery. Every time I wake up, I'm hit with pure panic—every single day, even when I'm on Adderall. So imagine how bad that panic is going to feel after being under anesthesia and that "artificial" sleep? And what if I end up totally losing it? 🤦
Hey guys, how’s it going? Personally, I’m a total wreck... It’s been exactly three weeks since I abruptly quit my Lexapro. I just got out of the shower and everything went south—sudden shortness of breath, bone-dry mouth, lightheadedness, the shakes. Honestly, I legit thought I was dying. My mental health is trashed, my physical state is a mess, and I don’t have an emergency psych clinic nearby or anyone to turn to. Please, I need help. I am beyond desperate and honestly terrified right now.
Hey guys, Merry Christmas to everyone! To those celebrating... and to the rest of you, just ignore 🙂
Honestly, maybe all this is actually just pregnancy symptoms... Maybe the whole pregnancy and hormone rollercoaster just made my condition (if we’re being fancy and calling it a mental health disorder) flare up or get way worse.. Who knows..
restlesstrucker15 said:Just try to be patient; everything will eventually settle down. 🙂)) The nausea is likely just from the pregnancy. It has been a very long time since I personally tapered myself off Paxil. At the time, I didn't know anyone else taking medication, nor did I bother reading the instructions. For two weeks, I felt as though I were coming down with a bad flu combined with these strange electric shocks running through my body, but I had absolutely no idea what was happening to me. I didn't realize it then. It was a case of naive ignorance.
Best regards,
So, you just stopped cold turkey too? Why'd you do that? Did your symptoms come crawling back?
Brandon Lopez6 said:It feels a little weird to me that you're hitting withdrawal this hard after only three months on Lexapro. When I was tapering off a much higher dose of way stronger meds after being on them way longer, I barely felt anything. To be honest, it makes more sense to me that those are pregnancy symptoms rather than withdrawal.
I’ve been on Lexapro for the last 3 months, but before that, I was on Faverin for about 9 months, and before that, Fluval for like 2.5 years. So yeah, this isn't just a Lexapro thing... we're talking a full-on SSRI taper here...
Really hoping it's just pregnancy symptoms and nothing else 🙂
fadedbear92 said:Go to the Emergency Psychiatric Clinic immediately.
The nearest Emergency Psychiatric Clinic is way too far from me 50 miles. And honestly? I can't even last five minutes in a car without being hit by insane nausea and puking my guts out..
I saw my doctor at the Mayo Clinic today, and she was telling me that the diarrhea and chills could just be symptoms of withdrawal, while the vomiting might be pregnancy stuff. She suggested if things get really bad, I should just head back on the Celexa. Though, she lowkey thinks I’m just making most of this up in my own head.
Man, if I could just be sure I wasn't actually losing my mind from all this, life would be a whole lot easier.
It’s day 14 since I went cold turkey on my Celexa because of the pregnancy.
For the last two days, it’s been a total mess—diarrhea, restlessness, feeling totally detached from reality, fever, zero motivation, depression, and full-blown panic attacks. Oh, and vomiting, but honestly, I’m pretty sure that’s just early pregnancy kicking in.
Both my psychiatrist and my OBGYN have been completely useless to me this week. I have no clue who I can actually turn to.
I can't even tell which symptoms are coming from the pregnancy and which ones are just the withdrawal hitting me.
Has anyone else here dealt with quitting antidepressants out of nowhere?
I'm seriously terrified that I'm actually going to lose my mind from stopping so fast.🙂
