I suppose I should be honest for once😁 Five years ago, I was only about 15🙂 So instead of actually posting on forums, I spent my time driving nails into my backyard for some reason??? (I'm still not sure why😁) I first heard about this place from my older brother, who mentioned that there was an F1 subforum (back in Feb 2006) And I've been around ever since...
I actually went ahead and filled it out after finding the link on an F1 fan site, but I honestly thought you guys were all over there on that page so I felt a bit awkward coming here to lecture you about how you already have a survey despite being veterans of this community for years.

Since I don't own a laptop and I don't spend enough time following F1 for the organization to feel like they owe me any kind of thanks... well, I guess that sounds better, though I'm not entirely sure 😁
Well, if I recall correctly, Schumacher personally tested several Ferrari models just to ensure he was perfectly comfortable with the car itself... as for Dale Earnhardt or Lewis Hamilton, I honestly haven't a clue...
It all comes down to aerodynamics and that dirty air effect—you know, when you're trailing right behind another car. All that aero work becomes useless because the cars lose speed, grip, and everything else that makes them stick to the track...
That’s probably why overtaking mostly happens on the straights; once they're past that initial pocket, they can run parallel and get that clean airflow back over the whole car again...
Even the drivers have admitted that in certain races, they just can't close the gap to the car ahead. If they try, they lose grip and could easily spin out on the track...
You end up in a situation where there isn't a proper flow of air, similar to what happens in a wind tunnel, so the rear wing doesn't produce enough downforce. The back end loses traction, and there's a real risk of spinning...
And with the front end, you start dealing with understeer...
I guess that's why in Monaco they can drive so closely together; people say there's much less aerodynamic load there...
So, I'm blaming the lack of overtaking on the aerodynamics. It seems like the car relies way too heavily on it...
If you recall, I think Renault mentioned a couple of years ago that they had a weaker engine but were making up for it with incredible aerodynamics, whereas Williams had a powerhouse engine but terrible aero, and they still struggled... I wonder why teams fight so hard over aerodynamicists then?
Traction control definitely plays a part here, too... When you watch a race, if you look at the RPM indicator on the left side of the screen, you'll see the TC light flash orange next to the speed. You can really see how much of an impact Traction control has when they're exiting corners... If that was turned off, we'd see way more driver errors and subsequently more overtakes... That's why there are so few mistakes being made lately. Whenever someone does slide or understeer, everyone just blames the aerodynamics (like a gust of wind, sand on the track, or a green track)...
But there have been comments suggesting that since drivers can actually adjust the level of Traction control, they know how to dial it back and drive on their own responsibility...
If we didn't have Traction control, we'd be seeing plenty of overtakes coming out of the corners. 🙂
There was some talk about the colors Formula 1, bikes, and Rally cars... just to see how it goes, and I guess Lewis Hamilton even mentioned he hasn't really ridden motorcycles, but maybe after a week or two, he’d probably master it without any issues at all.
