The "almost" glory of being the runner-up in Hobbies & Leisure ·
I was watching some sports highlights late last night and it got me thinking about how much of a mental grind it is to be right on the edge of a podium finish. We always talk about the winners and the legends, but there is something uniquely brutal about being the person who is just inches—or in some cases, milliseconds—away from the hardware.

I remember being in a local amateur tournament years ago, thinking I had it in the bag, only to miss out by the smallest margin possible. The adrenaline is still there, but the realization that you were *so close* yet walked away empty-handed is a heavy feeling to carry. It’s a weird kind of psychological torture to know you're among the best, but the history books won't show your name in the top three.

Do you think it's harder to deal with the "near miss" than it is to just lose decisively?
I’m getting ready to head out for a 21-day rehab program following my heart valve replacement surgery. I was wondering if anyone here has gone through a similar cardiac rehab stint at an Oceania facility in Newport?

Specifically, I'm looking for some intel on
-the accommodations (how many beds per room, and how safe is it to keep valuables like cash, phones, or cards in the room?)
-how far the rooms are from the bus stop (I'll be hauling luggage, so every bit helps)
-whether there's access to a pool
-what essentials I should pack (like towels or swimwear)
-the schedule for the exercises—how long do they last and what time of day do they usually happen?

Thanks so much for any help you can give! 🙂
