Is it just me, or does every single fan base eventually hit that wall where the hype train just runs out of steam? I was looking at some recent projections today, and it’s honestly exhausting how quickly the narrative shifts from "this is our year" to "we're looking way too far ahead to worry about next season."

It feels like a cycle we've seen a dozen times. You get a few years of genuine momentum, everyone starts believing the magic is real, and then suddenly, some analysts start pointing at long-term roster gaps or aging stars as a reason to temper expectations. It's a total mood killer. I've spent way too many seasons riding the rollercoaster of optimism only to have the "experts" tell me to prepare for a drought before the current season even hits the home stretch.

Once you start looking at rankings for years down the road, it feels like the current energy is being sucked right out of the room. Do you guys think looking that far ahead is actually useful, or is it just a way for people to manage their own disappointment before it even happens?

The manager pulls in a draw worth about $135,000—while a win would have netted them a cool $325,000.
