stormytiger57 said:Some people told me that about that card, so I'm stuck on what to pick. I found this MSI one for $250 and then there's this POV GTX 560 for $333.

If that's the price and it comes with a warranty, just get the MSI 7770. Don't overthink it.

Is this the one?

Jeremy Moore75 said:Hey everyone! Could someone give me a detailed, step-by-step guide on how to install a new graphics card? Specifically, how to uninstall the old drivers and set up the new ones. I'm running Windows 7, and the card is a Sapphire Radeon HD 7770 1GB DDR5. Thanks a ton in advance!

You've got a PCIe slot on the motherboard. Press the white clip, pop the old card out, slide the new one in, and you're done.
Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features; uninstall the old drivers, download the new ones from the web, install them like any other game, and you're set.

It’s a decent choice, plus you get that 3-year warranty, but the GTX 560 still holds a slight edge in performance.
The Radeon HD 7770 is incredibly power-efficient, but honestly, your PSU can handle either one.

You're looking at roughly the same level of performance here; if you actually want a meaningful upgrade, you'll need $667.

It’s fine, and actually a bit more powerful.

Hang in there just a little longer

Availability: Arriving in 2 days

The Radeon HD 7770 definitely isn't some beast.

Joshua Palmer3 said:Could I run BF3 and Crysis 2 on this setup, maybe even on medium settings? 😁

I ran those exact specs—same CPU, just used an XFX 5770 and less RAM (2 GB). I had to play BF3 on low; if I bumped it to medium, I'd lose about 5 FPS. Crysis 2 ran perfectly fine, though.
The next step up is the HD 6790, which goes for $310. It’s a bit more expensive, but honestly, it isn't powerful enough to justify the extra cost.

Nothing beats this. Everything else is just extra cash in your pocket.

Right now, Portio has the AMD Radeon HD 7970 for http://www.nabava.net/trazilica.php?tp=0&q=hd7970, while Protis is carrying the AMD Radeon HD 7950 at http://www.nabava.net/trazilica.php?tp=0&q=hd7950

You could have easily bookmarked this price search on Amazon by now.

Larry Ortiz5 said:Just saw the 7950 dropped and it's priced at $1333, wtf? Isn't that a bit steep... literally double what the 6950 version was.

You’ve also got the AMD Radeon HD 7970 for $1300. It isn't a rip-off if it was sitting at $1533 just a few days ago, but since it's a brand-new release, they're obviously milking it for all they can. That's just how it goes in the tech industry.
The AMD Radeon HD 7950 is available for $1183 too.

I need some help here. A dedicated chat thread would be great; looks like you guys are running out of things to talk about.

OT: Just grab that HD6750 512MB DDR5 I linked for you yesterday. Anything stronger than that is a waste of time because your CPU is too weak to actually use the extra power, and you'd just be paying for headroom you won't touch. Besides, for only $300 more, you could get an HD6770 which is slightly better, but it's $100 pricier—so basically throwing money away... As for that 460W power supply, it's probably a cheap off-brand, but let's hope it holds up.

The one I suggested is actually quite a bit cheaper than the GTS 450, even though the performance is nearly identical. A budget GTS 450 with 512 MB of GDDR5 will run you north of $233, while the HD 6750 stays under $200. Do the math and decide which one makes more sense for your wallet.
Anyway, stop opening new threads and spamming the same question everywhere. There's already a dedicated megathread for graphics cards. If you keep this up, expect the moderator to wipe your posts and probably ban you.

BF3 needs a quad-core processor to handle better detail levels.

Your CPU is too weak for anything more powerful than that GPU.

To check the power supply, just grab a screwdriver, unscrew the side panel of your case, pop it off, and read the label on the PSU. It’ll list everything from the brand to the wattage. A power supply is just a metal box.

Your processor is underpowered. You didn't even mention your power supply, what monitor you're using, or your resolution. Besides, you could have easily posted this question in other subforums—like sex and erotica—instead of just half the topics here.

Look, the price is what it is. If you want to check out Best Buy, here’s the link: $687

Otherwise, you can just grab that Samsung at Best Buy for $532 the same amount...

Honestly, if you're just gaming, it doesn't matter. Don't let that 8ms response time from Dell Technologies bother you. For anything else, Dell Technologies is the smarter play. They have better screen-to-body ratios, which makes them look bigger in a head-to-head comparison, plus they have a superior panel and better viewing angles...

Definitely go with the 22-inch widescreen.

I thought this was the right spot because of the Windows 7 thread, but fine, I'll just start a new one over there.

I can't figure out this issue that's been driving me crazy since yesterday morning. I've tried everything—NOD32, Malwarebytes, CCleaner, even a full system reset after scanning—but nothing works. There's this process in the Resource Monitor called system NT kernel & system that's clearly choking my CPU. I have no idea what it actually is. I've tried Googling it, but none of the results make any sense to me. I even attempted to manually suspend the process, but the second I click confirm, the entire computer freezes up and I have to hard reboot.

Here is a link showing exactly what's happening on my screen:

I can't play Battlefield 3 with this mess. Even on low settings, I was getting about 25 fps before this CPU hogging started, but now I'm struggling to hit 5 fps. Honestly, the bigger issue is that I'm using a stock CPU cooler and it's running at 70 degrees all day long because of this crap. Sorry for the language, but it's frustrating.

Can anyone help me out if you know what this is?

The cooler is better for $187.

850W is plenty for an ASUS GeForce GTX 580🙂.
