How to lose weight and get back in shape? in Health ·
Thomas Bishop64 said:Hey everyone! So, here’s the deal. My job keeps me glued to a desk for up to 10 hours a day, which hasn't been great for my physique. Exactly one year ago, I was sitting at a solid 143 pounds, but now I've climbed up to about 163. I'm looking for some guidance on where to actually start with exercise, how to eventually maintain a healthy weight, and what a sustainable diet should look like.

I’m big on doing things the right way, so I'm definitely not interested in starving myself or jumping on those fad diets that promise miracles in a month.

Thanks.🙂

Hey there! 👋
I'm dealing with some extra weight too. It’s not a massive amount, but it still bothers me.
A few years back, I was only 110 pounds and way too thin. Now I’m at 136 and I’m really not feeling it. My ideal weight would be about 121 pounds, but I honestly have no clue how to get there. Dieting isn't an option for me, and I'm not into the whole gym or aerobics scene either. Maybe just working out at home or going for walks—that's about it. Of course, I know I need to eat less, but I just love snacking way too much. 😁
As you can see, I didn't actually give you any advice (sorry!), I just wanted to vent and see what everyone else thinks.
Take care! 🙂
Questions about Mono (Mononucleosis) in Health ·
Drew Hill6 said:I caught mono back in mid-August. I had all the classic symptoms, plus a nasty rash from taking Amoxicillin. By late September, everything seemed fine—my blood work was clear, my lymph nodes were normal size, and everything else looked great. But over the last few days, my lymph nodes have swollen up quite a bit again. I’ve got some headaches and I’m feeling exhausted. Is it possible to catch mono all over again? Especially since my tests were totally fine just a month ago?

Siroce😢
I went through this exact same thing a few years ago, so I know exactly what you're going through.
It isn't that the mono came back; it's more likely that you still haven't fully kicked it. Even if your lab results look clean, the virus lingers in your system for a while. You might feel like you're "over the hump," but you aren't quite in the clear yet.
As you probably already know, there isn't a specific cure for mononucleosis. All you can really do is rest and manage the symptoms. It usually takes about six months, sometimes even longer, to completely recover. For me, the aftermath involved a swollen spleen, issues with my liver, and a seriously weakened immune system.
You really need to take it easy for a while—maybe a month or two of actual rest. Then, for the next year, stay away from alcohol and don't go pushing yourself too hard. No heavy sports, running, or anything high-impact. Your immune system is vulnerable right now, which means you'll pick up every little cold or flu going around if you aren't careful.
To be honest, I didn't listen to my doctors when they gave me those warnings, and I paid for it later. 🙄
The bottom line is that the mono is still hanging on. Please take care of yourself. And definitely talk to your doctor about it! 🙂
