Republican Party - General Discussion in Political Scene ·
generic person attacked Joe Biden: "He keeps invoking Ronald Reagan, which reminds me of someone who found religion late in life and can't stop preaching about it. Maybe it's just a guilty conscience at work."

------

Who exactly is generic person talking about here? That late Democratic Party politician, generic politician?

PENAVA ACCUSES REPUBLICAN PARTY LEADERSHIP OF EXERTING PRESSURE: 'Gathering signatures is becoming impossible. This is pure repression and an assault on democracy—we need to move past this.'

At this rate, these Republicans are going to end up tearing each other apart before the internal party elections even get underway.

If Kovač actually takes over the reins at the Republican Party, we'd see the party headquartered in a place like Little Rock for the first time, with him stepping up as their prime candidate for leadership.

I’ve got my doubts about whether Kovač can actually pull enough votes to win. He’s just a shady, unlikable guy.
There's a real chance Bero could end up beating him.
We'll soon see which faction holds the real power within the Republican Party—whether it's the coastal and midwestern crowd or the folks from the South.

It was 145 versus 141 for the left-wing coalition.

Exit poll NBC:

The Alliance: 39.6% - 141
The Red-Green coalition: 39.4% - 140
Social Democrats: 19.2% - 68

Interesting. But let's be real, this is just an exit poll.

In Sweden, you see the left holding strong in rural areas, while the center-right tends to dominate the major cities and the south.

Looking back at the 2014 elections:

exit poll NBC:

V: 9.8%
S: 25.4%
MP: 5.8%

C: 9.4%
KD: 6.6%
L: 5.7%
M: 18.4%

SD: 16.3%

The Left coalition sits at 41%
The Right coalition is at 40.1%
SD "only" 16.3%

frozenpuma69 said:So, looking at the polls, it seems like neither the Alliance nor Lovfen and their buddies will actually pull enough seats together to grab a majority, right?
What are the odds that someone from the Alliance (though the Centrists seem like the most logical move here, I guess) might jump ship over to Lovfen? It feels like everyone fleeing in the opposite direction is probably less likely than that, maybe.
Or is it more probable that they’ll all just band together to form some massive grand coalition to block the SD? If that actually happens, I suppose we'd be looking at the largest parliamentary majority in all of Europe.

It looks like the next Government might also end up being a minority administration led by the Social Democrats.

Exit polls are scheduled to drop at 8 PM.

If you want to track the Swedish elections, I’d suggest keeping an eye on SVT or Aftonbladet, which are basically the go-to sources for news in the country.

The parliamentary elections in Sweden are set for September 9th.

Here’s how the latest poll is looking:

The Red bloc is sitting at 40 percent
The Blue bloc follows with 38 percent
And the right-wing Sweden Democrats have 18 percent

The Democratic Party could end up joining the Janša Administration.

According to Mirjana Kasapović, the Democratic Party has basically morphed into a nationalist left-wing party.

neonhound18, is this Pete Buttigieg guy some kind of clown?

Pete Buttigieg is basically a political project—just like Bernie Sanders and Michael Bloomberg—designed specifically to keep the left-wing center in power.

Losing Meryl Streep is an absolute gut punch to the American acting scene.

She was a phenomenal talent. Hands down, her most powerful performance was in The Trap.
Coco / Coco and the Big Secret (2017) in Movies ·
This is truly a beautiful, deeply moving family film that manages to tackle a heavy subject like death with incredible grace.

I’d highly recommend this for anyone aged 12 and up.

I was honestly on the verge of tears.

Where on earth are you getting this idea that we have some special bond with the V4?
From what I can see, the V4 isn't trying to expand its reach into other nations, nor are they attempting to act like a mini-European Union within the European Union. All the V4 really does is unite people against Merkel’s immigration policies.

Heinz Klumpp has seized control of the most powerful ministries.

It’s honestly hilarious watching those leftist opposition protesters act like they own the place when they barely scraped together 35% of the vote (with the Democratic Party at 27%, followed by 4% for the Greens and 4% for others).
The Republican Party and the Democratic Party combined to pull in 58%.
