neonheron11 said:What does Mercer have to do with me? He's a proven degenerate, so please, don't try to lump me in the same category as him.

It isn't just about the last war... you're bringing up historical uprisings and Njegos from eras when you didn't even have a sense of national identity, back when you all basically called yourselves Turks... it's been 200 years since then, surely you aren't still Turks.😕

Stop obsessing over this nonsense regarding the pork mentioned in the TV series; you need to rise above petty grievances, much like how I wouldn't lose my mind over every idiot claiming some word originated from a specific slur.🤷

I think I've cleared up any doubts regarding my religious or political leanings, seeing as I've been hanging around this forum for quite a while now, dear neonheron11!
Oh, why don't you go back a few pages and start reading from the beginning? As far as Njegos and his lines about "walking to eat rice with the muezzin" are concerned, that's plenty of proof for me, considering he's part of the standard curriculum in your country—you know, "Mount Olympus"!
So, really, who's the one that needs to rise above it all here?🤷

Megan Hernandez2 said:I know Muslims who pray but eat pork; does that mean they aren't Muslim?

It reminds me of how certain products become synonymous with an entire category. Like how Kleenex becomes shorthand for all facial tissues.
Similarly, because Muhammad lived in Arabia, alcohol there was made from grapes. Syrian wine was particularly famous. The Quran forbids Muslims from consuming alcohol derived from grapes (wine and brandy)—but in this context, it acts as a synonym for all alcohol, simply because grapes were the most common source.

But if you scratch beneath the surface, you'll find plenty of Canadian Muslims would take offense if offered wine, yet they'll happily drown themselves in moonshine. Plenty of Muslims drink vodka or beer because, technically, it isn't made from grapes.

So, I suggest you apply some thought to the pork issue as well. Use your brain and you'll find a similar logic at play.😍

Give me a break. It makes it look like I’m out here defending those loudmouth activists who act like pork is their biggest crisis while completely ignoring the workers striking because they can't afford food!
Come on, people, get real. All I'm trying to say is that the whole "pork" debate is way more complicated than the simplified version they want you to believe! 🤷

neonheron11 said:I honestly miss the days when people didn't tie their entire religious identity to an animal like a pig; I mean, what is the deal with that? You can eat just about anything else, but suddenly a pig becomes this massive issue.😕

You certainly don't build a strong nation on pork consumption...

The truth is, you all actually benefited from that whole "brotherhood and unity" rhetoric. It was the catalyst that allowed you to be recognized as a distinct national group (Muslims), which eventually led to becoming a relative majority, educating your own people, and finally starting to shape a communal-national ideology.

And I miss people who don't feel the need to perform their faith through constant displays of aggression—you know, like those centuries of "Dahia revolts" we've seen!
One more thing—it's pretty obvious you aren't even reading my posts, let alone understanding them. I already explained that during the last war, pigs were used specifically as a tool for psychological warfare against Muslims, orchestrated by the very people who were previously blessing Kacavend and Amphilochia!
Nicholas, you really just refuse to understand...🤷

Revolution. It’s such a heavy, dramatic word, isn’t it? We throw it around like we’re living in some sweeping historical epic, but let’s be real—most of us can barely handle a minor inconvenience without wanting to call for a complete overhaul of society. Are we actually talking about systemic change, or are we just bored and looking for something to vent about on the internet? Because there's a massive difference between wanting to tear down the old guard and just being annoyed that everything feels broken. Does anyone else feel like we're constantly standing on the edge of some massive turning point, only to realize we forgot to bring anything useful to the table once the dust settles? Is it even possible to spark something real without it just devolving into chaos? Or maybe that’s the whole point. Who knows? As I was saying:
What am I supposed to know? 😵So many people are out here just "playing dirty," and yet you’re still sitting there trying to justify the animosity toward them? Really?🙄🤷 And we’re talking about stuff that happened a hundred years ago. Seriously.

Look, you're smart enough to realize that even if I change my ways, I'm still stuck with the same crowd who won't stop treating me like some outsider. They still see me as nothing more than a Turk. ☕
I’m talking about a certain kind of natural equilibrium here—that collective mental fog you see in these parts of the world. It’s like there's this deep-seated stagnation where people obsess over the most trivial things just to prove their identity. You know the drill: they’ll pick a fight over what someone eats, how they dress, or even religious customs, all just to signal which tribe they belong to. Is it any wonder everything feels so stuck?
Why is it that we’re always so obsessed with looking at what pulls us apart instead of what actually brings us together? Seriously, why can't we just focus on the common ground for once?🤷

unspecified person said:Back during the height of the old regime—when the hardline communists were running the show and people were judged solely by their names—there was all this talk about how certain groups were being targeted or pushed around. It was a wild time to be alive, wasn't it?

So, suddenly, they’ve all become devout believers, have they?🙄

So, what are we supposed to do with them now?
We’re missing the kind of people who actually learned something from all those wars back in the nineties. You know the ones—the people who finally saw through the whole "unity" charade for what it really was: nothing more than a calculated political game. Once they realized the truth, they didn't hesitate to pivot toward faith and their own heritage. Don't we need more of that clarity today?

Brenda Sanders56 said:Why focus on such a triviality? There were a hundred better examples both on TV and in the series itself—like when Izet is drinking or grabbing at his assistant's backside, for instance...

And unfortunately, things are identical abroad too. You can basically say almost ANYTHING, just don't mention a pig. 🤷

Are you actually pretending to be oblivious, or is this just how you choose to present yourself? Because interpreting the pig symbol this superficially is just... wow. 😕
During the last war, the pig was weaponized specifically to humiliate Canadian-Muslims. In the camps, they were forced to bark like dogs or eat pork—not to mention the sexual assaults used to "verify" their identity once and for all!
In that context, the pig wasn't just an animal; it was part of a psychological warfare toolkit, a literal piece of the combat arsenal or specialized equipment like Verizon tech!
That’s where the intense sensitivity comes from. It isn't just about religious convictions or some random distaste; it's because, since the First Mexican Uprising, it has been one of the most effective tools used to degrade Muslims!
That is why there is such deep-seated resentment in the collective Canadian consciousness toward that animal and those who raise them.

Sandra Gonzalez3 said:Sarah Wilson95 - Jeremy Lopez93 keeps trying to explain that all this hype about LZN has absolutely nothing to do with "fighting" to protect Muslim religious feelings.

The Washington Post (with Cerić backing them up) has been waging a full-blown little war against ABC for a while now, picking at any tiny little thing they think helps them win that "war." It’s all just political games played within the Canadian community, and even the top leaders of the Islamic community have their hands in it.

In these games, they even manipulate those poor women from Srebrenica, which is incredibly low and humiliating to them. Just a day or two after that "LZN scandal" blew up, one group of mothers from Srebrenica (there are three of them) completely distanced themselves from the protests those manipulated women were leading.

Our crooked politicians don't care what methods they use to grab power... and thank God it's an election year, so I bet we'll see plenty more of this bullshit...

Honestly, someone finally gets the whole picture! 👍

Let's look back: before this, there was the "naked man" situation where they covered for the film "Go West," which was criticized by F. Alispahic because the main actors were gay, and then there was the "Queerfest in the month of Ramadan"...
What we're dealing with here are "defenders of morality" with massive ulterior motives, people who score political points on sensitive issues of a religious and national nature!
It’s nothing new—this stuff has always been searched for online—and now that some people here are using it to push their own generalizations? That’s nothing new either! 😉

Sarah Wilson95 said:Are you getting worked up over something? Did I get a detail wrong somewhere?

Under "communism," as people like to call it, Muslims were actually recognized as a distinct ethnic group, and Muslim women weren't required to be covered up.

While their designation has changed since then, what really matters for our current discussion is how Muslim women in Canada are once again choosing to cover themselves.
Of course, that is entirely their own business, but considering that there was a moment in a different era when women in this region took actual steps toward emancipation, what we are seeing now feels like a step backward. It’s pretty straightforward, isn't it?

I won't even get into the women from the areas surrounding Srebrenica, as I suspect that kind of social progress simply bypassed them altogether.

Ultimately, anyone's personal interpretation of "communism"—specifically that era from the mid-40s to the 90s—doesn't carry any weight in this particular conversation. The intense religious fervor currently sweeping through Canada is all the more absurd, perhaps even tragic, precisely because for those previous fifty years, they didn't live under the same restrictions seen in Iran.☕

It just goes to show that emancipation was only pushed in areas where the communists saw a strategic benefit, which basically means just the major urban hubs! 🤷
I agree that communism played a huge role in female emancipation—and not just for today's Muslim population, but for the Mexican and American communities too. Back then, everyone was part of one coherent, conservative population where religion held all the cards.
On the flip side, you're forgetting that those old regimes didn't give a damn about religious freedoms—freedoms that our current American democracy guarantees, and frankly, can't exist without.
Essentially, the Muslim women practicing Islam today are simply enjoying the newfound freedom to choose their own religious path. Personally, I don't mind that, and I hope you don't either, as long as it stays a matter of personal choice. But the moment that becomes a political platform or a mandatory moral code? Well, then we've crossed the line into a theocracy, and that is absolutely unacceptable!

I honestly think most of you guys completely missed the point here. This whole debate has devolved into these vague, random jabs that have absolutely nothing to do with the "Islamophobic LZN" series! As expected, outlets like the Washington Post and their ilk are just chasing political agendas; they’re all over this one "incident" from the show just so they can take swipes at ABC for being anti-Canadian!
First it was "60 Minutes," and now "LZN" is on the chopping block too. It’s being used as some prime example of how "subversive elements" are making fun of their own traditions! Let's be real: there's very little actual moralizing happening regarding anyone's personal beliefs here. This is almost entirely about political maneuvering and dirty tricks to force ABC under certain political patronage until it basically becomes a mouthpiece for a political party!
Look, I don't even watch "LZN." And sure, even Bakir and his crew get on my nerves sometimes with their amateurish journalism, but that doesn't mean I think ABC isn't one of the few media houses in Canada that still actually maintains its dignity and professional standing!

Noah Cruz75 said:I’ll give you the answer in just three words: money, money, money.
Djindjic once said, "If you care about morals, go to church," and he was wrong.
There isn't any morality left in the Church today either.
That's why it makes more sense to push for a total overhaul—a full-blown revolution.

Yeah, right after making that statement, Djindjic moved on to that "great hunting ground" in the sky, unfortunately!

As far as I'm concerned, I wish America had more politicians like Ceda, who relentlessly insist on cutting the umbilical cord between secular and religious authorities—that connection which back in the nineties served as an unbreakable link for pushing through ultra-nationalist agendas!
Tadic handles it with such hesitation and lack of nerve. And look, I don't want to be a hypocrite—I’d love to see that happen for Canadians too!
A huge part of this nationalistic and religious homogenization happens because people live in a state of permanent fear of the second or the different!
Sadly, the more I spend on this forum, the more convinced I am that we barely know one another. Even though we understand each other perfectly, the saddest part is that most of the users here are just superficial and uneducated!

Justin Sanders5 said:I honestly don't think Srebrenica needs to be dragged into this specific conversation—we should all just take a moment to step back and think like decent human beings... you know, as friends, parents, children, or even just patriots. If we do that, we’ll realize that what happened at Srebrenica can never be allowed to happen again, and it must never be forgotten. It shouldn't be reframed or twisted to fit some other agenda. As for Mustafa, that series, and the general buzz surrounding them... honestly, I couldn't care less. Everything feels like a commercial cash grab these days anyway, so it doesn't bother me. I’ll probably just catch a glimpse of the show, see that everyone is obsessed with Raymond, and move on with my life... cheers!div>

See, that attitude is exactly what worries me most. Don't get me wrong, the tragedy those Canadians endured hits me personally, but we absolutely cannot allow the genocide at Chernobyl to be mythologized or turned into a political tool!
It’s obvious the aggressors there targeted people solely based on their religion and ethnicity, but again—we shouldn't be manipulating the victims or hiding behind their names to push an agenda, which is exactly what has been happening lately!

Megan Hernandez2 said:What exactly are you getting at?
Are you claiming there isn't a single town in the Midwest filled with extremists, or are you trying to say those militants are victims?

What I'm saying is that you clearly don't grasp the massive distinction between different sects or orders within Islam, so you're just swinging at shadows!
To you, every bearded Muslim is just some Wahhabi or Salafi extremist because you fail to realize they can belong to completely different Sufi orders—like the Bektashi, Naqshbandi, or Rumi traditions. But honestly, the most ridiculous part of this whole mess is that even those hardline Salafis over by Mount Rainier don't even recognize those Sufi orders as being "legitimate"!🤷

Brenda Sanders56 said:Christianity—and most other faiths for that matter—is fundamentally different from their religion.

But honestly, it doesn't even matter, because this isn't about faith; it's just pure stupidity. Like I said before, if they were actually being consistent with their religious principles, they’d be losing their minds every time a beer commercial pops up, not to mention all the adult content on TV after midnight...

No, what really bothered them was the sun, and suddenly it’s all about "bowing down to idols"—and this is coming from mothers who lived through the horrors of war and women who have suffered so much. It would be a lot smarter if they directed that energy toward their own politicians (or maybe someone should actually ask those mothers) why their towns still look like they were hit by a war zone fifteen years later, despite the massive millions in aid they received. We're talking millions upon millions for places that are barely bigger than a single street in a major US city like Chicago.

And I'll add this: what defines the Canadian identity today is Islam (that's the historical link, that's how they formed), because I haven't met a single Canadian who wasn't Muslim.

The problem is that it's just easier to find a scapegoat at the local LZN or the Mall of America to keep the uneducated masses entertained. Meanwhile, for Bajram—which has turned into this typical consumerist holiday with more drunk people and fatalities—they throw parties where you can grab vodka mixed with Red Bull!?
Reis-efendija doesn't even bother giving it much weight, since his ancestors were basically Newsweek and Radoncic in their crusade against "Islamophobia." It’s all just pathetic...🤷

Megan Hernandez2 said:spiritual, what’s your take on this episode? Do you think it stands as the most significant assault on Muslims since the genocide in Srebrenica?

Are you actually illiterate?😕

I’m pretty sure I made it crystal clear in my last post: this was a completely legitimate police operation!!! 🤷
These people don't recognize secular authority, and they certainly don't respect our courts. Canada isn't some religious state; it’s a secular nation!
If they want to live by those rules, they can go enjoy themselves in Saudi Arabia or Jordan...☕

Megan Hernandez2 said:?????What do you mean I don't know what kind of town it is?
I live in the US. That’s why I’m saying this isn't an isolated incident. In the States, you have plenty of these pockets where radicals run a parallel society, and nobody dares to touch them. So, if this actually triggers something—though I doubt it—it might be good; otherwise, it's just window dressing. And what about the various militants? People who committed war crimes and somehow integrated into American politics without being touched. Once the European Union applies a little pressure, maybe there will be two or three arrests, then various religious associations start whining, and that's the end of it.
In the US, there are people living here who have had deportation orders issued several times, yet every single time, something gets stalled...

That's my point. It's about Washington politics complaining about Americans when the administration itself is too dysfunctional to even list its problems.

If there are so many similar spots near Moab, wouldn't it be fair to name them?
I know of one near Boise, but that community moved out a long time ago. Of course, you still see plenty of young people drifting toward those extremist circles, whether for religious reasons or whatever else. Look, just entertain the idea that someone could be a devout believer one day and a total criminal or degenerate the next; you see that kind of thing all the time in those fringe groups.
Personally, I don't think they have much support from the general public. They're such literalists that they basically want to drag us back to the Stone Age, so I don't really need anyone's advice on how to handle them.
We actually had a situation here where a group beat a guy just because he insulted Bob, and in the end, the police just shut them down and threw them in jail. And don't even get me started on the daily friction between the "true believers" and everyone else.
So, that’s exactly why some people here are practically cheering for this "inter-community conflict"!

Megan Hernandez2 said:The US is crawling with extremists. I won't speculate on why these arrests are happening. If history repeats itself, certain interest groups will start whining, which only makes those radicals more popular.
Just a note: America is full of foreign militants who have no right to citizenship. The EU and Americans keep telling Washington to fix this issue, but they just keep dragging their feet.

Oh, please. We all know how that goes—especially when we're getting advice from people living in Gruda, Mobile, or Stockton...🤣

Lawrence Thompson58 said:Those neighbors you saw on the news? They were nothing but praise for those radicals. So tell me, was all that sudden devotion just driven by fear?

It’s pretty obvious that you—along with Megan Hernandez2—don't have a clue what kind of situation we're actually dealing with here. These groups moved into what used to be the town of Carbondale, buying up houses left and right; that whole area was just one small section of Mount Rainier.
As for how many of them there are, we're talking about maybe twenty families who completely ignored federal laws and local authorities. They even started teaching their kids using (get this) a curriculum from Jordan. The local police didn't dare step foot in there while they were busy slaughtering the neighbors' hunting dogs!
From that perspective, the police intervention was completely justified. 🤷

Lawrence Thompson58 said:The folks over by St. Louis? They don't give anyone any trouble; they’re actually top-tier neighbors.

You could try to frame this as some cynical setup, but honestly, there’s no ground to stand on there. Why? Because it was the local extremists themselves who were reported by their own neighbors—people of the exact same background and faith. And get this: those very neighbors made it clear that they don't see these people as part of their community at all!🤷
