The start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine (Part 1) in War in Ukraine ·
Ukraine yesterday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MKL...apt.TymurRudov

Seriously, this is the kind of footage those state-run TV networks would never, ever show you—it's just wild.
Robert Reyes4 said:So, what did you find?
I didn't really see the point in hunting down info online that I'd already heard firsthand.

I didn't really dive into the nitty-gritty because those articles are just massive—but man, it's wild how everything over there in Germany is so incredibly precise, look at this:

Robert Reyes4 said:My sister lives in Dresden. They weren't even allowed to leave the city.

I mean, I honestly stumbled upon these super detailed documents within just a few minutes—it breaks down every single measure they implemented in Boston, all laid out chronologically and even translated into ten different languages! 👍
Robert Reyes4 said:Over in Germany, they also had stay-at-home orders in certain areas, at least for a while.

Wait, where exactly? Like, can you actually drop a link to some official government or federal website or something? I need to see if this is legit!
Joseph Taylor11 said:I read that too. I'm assuming it *is* new, because when this first started, they turned me down for that exact reason (my property was in the same County).
Now, I can basically drive there without even needing a pass.

So, if they could have allowed it from the very start, 🤔 what was all that back-and-forth for? 🙄

☕

Ah, nah, they definitely couldn't do that at the start. They’re just squeezing us and playing it however they feel like. Like, the formal rules don't even matter at this point—they just change them whenever they want.
Tyler Ruiz502 said:On a purely personal level—and I know how this sounds—I just can't stomach the idea of needing someone's permission to travel. I can wrap my head around going abroad or heading overseas, sure, but the notion that there are internal borders or restrictions within the States? It just doesn't compute for me. There’s something deeply humiliating about having to ask for leave or clearance from anyone just to move around my own country. If that's how it works, then fine, I'm staying put. Peace out.

👍
Grace Jones86 said:As I see it, almost all restrictions lift by November 5th. But after that? We’re still stuck with this North Korean-style regime where they just restrict people's freedom of movement whenever some official feels like being an asshole regarding their own country...🙄

🙂

Of all these mandates, this one is the only one I actually care about.
It was slapped on at the very last minute. It’s the most extreme measure they have, hitting us right in our most basic freedoms, yet it’s unbelievable that they didn't scrap it immediately. In fact, they aren't even trying to get rid of it...
A total horror show.

Totally. 👍
Joseph Taylor11 said:Just picture the scenario—two cities and three townships all sign on for one unified area, but then the head of the fourth township decides to leave his own citizens completely stranded! He made a solo call: he’s not signing.🙏

So, I’m asking you guys—is there actually any legal ground here to file a lawsuit? Is this territorial discrimination? Are we being penalized just because we were born in the "wrong" township? And how can a single person—or maybe a small group (I’m assuming the local council?)🤔—even make a call like that? What are we dealing with here? Is this America or the Wild West?

Honestly? Probably both. 🙂
Joseph Taylor11 said:I mean... is there even a way to head to another town or city without technically "leaving" where you live?
🤔
Am I totally out of the loop on this one? 😁

Oh, totally! 🙂 There definitely is!
Rachel Roberts6 said:Restriction vs. Ban... it’s basically the same mess. If you don't have permission, aka a pass, then you're effectively banned from traveling between different counties. It's not the restriction itself that's the problem; it's the way they actually carry it out. Like the example I mentioned earlier, law enforcement seems to be making up their own rules on the fly about who follows the rules and who doesn't. Honestly, treating the fight against this "21st-century plague" with such inconsistency is pretty unprofessional.
Sure, the actual distance someone can travel might depend on whether local mayors are playing nice with each other or not, but it's also obvious that the idiots in charge keep passing rules that make zero sense and are practically impossible to follow.
Besides, I honestly stopped caring about whether these measures were justified the second they allowed that massive parade over on Maui. And from what I heard, that whole procession wasn't even cleared by the local town council, but by some national task force.

Wait, since when?! As far as I know, the whole deal was just about staying put at home... or maybe I totally missed something? I guess I might be out of the loop here!
Richard Campbell3 said:Right, because clearly the police at checkpoints are out there stopping cars specifically to hand out quarantine orders...

I mean, seriously, I could just stand outside a CVS and start handing out prescriptions myself if that's how this works... 🙂
I mean, maybe it’d just be better if the folks who think staying put is the way to go... you know, actually stayed home? Like, just stay in their own bubble where everything's chill and nothing can mess with them. I guess that's just how it works!
I mean, trying to prove someone is actually standing right where their phone is... man, that's gonna be a tough sell even in an American courtroom. Like, seriously! What if a person is carrying two different phones and they're sitting in totally different spots? Where is our justice system even gonna decide they are—somewhere halfway between the two locations? I guess it just gets messy! 🙂
Megan Kelly8 said:Does anyone actually know what the penalties are for abandoning your primary residence? Like, if you get caught, do they actually hand out fines, or is it just a warning most of the time? I've been digging through stuff online, and the info is all over the place—some sources say it's just a slap on the wrist, while others claim you could be looking at a $0.00 fine.

And, uh, how would you even prove you left your home base *before* a travel ban was put in place, rather than after? Like, how does one even demonstrate that timing thing?
nimbleharbor10 said:It is truly pathetic to witness how Americans react with such intense hostility toward anyone perceived as a potential threat to their safety or their way of life, showing zero foresight regarding the fact that they could easily find themselves in that exact same position. There is this irrational mindset where if someone is deemed "infected," they must be crushed, eliminated, or completely destroyed, yet when the tide turns and they fall ill themselves, they will be the ones whimpering for help.

They would go as far as trying to shut down borders—not just national ones, but state lines and county lines too. They’d try to prevent fellow citizens from even returning home. People would spend all their energy spinning conspiracy theories about who infected whom, using those lies to justify violence against the very people they’ve branded as the source of the contagion. All while, quite ironically, they let their children out to play in the local parks with other kids.

👍
darkotter35 said:So, what I witnessed today was straight-up Kafkaesque—and I mean top-tier, surrealist nightmare fuel kind of Kafkaesque.
Basically, my local town hall in a small suburb outside of Chicago is handing out ID cards to citizens who don't have digital logins or even an email address, which means you actually have to physically show up at the municipal building.
After hearing rumors yesterday that they were just handing these things out left, right, and center, I decided to head down there and see if I could snag one too.
To make matters even more ridiculous, when I tried to go through the official, legitimate channels using the online portal and employer verification, they refused to issue my card—even though I still have my old one—simply because I’m not currently working a full-time gig.
So, I roll up to the office and there’s already a line of about 20 people.
I join the queue and notice everyone is filling out these little slips of paper. I ask this guy next to me what the deal is, and he tells me, "Hey, let me just fill yours out for you while we wait." So, I give him my info, and the only real question on the form is the "reason for request." I write down "agricultural work" because that’s what I heard everyone was using yesterday to get approved—plus, I’ve got a house out in the country and a garden, so it’s technically a legitimate reason. I ask him if I need to specify where my house is or anything like that, and he just goes, "Nah, don't bother." I asked, "How are they even going to know I'm not making stuff up?" He looks at me and says, "They won't. You can write whatever you want." I was floored. I figured, okay, surely once you go inside, they’ll check your driver's license or something? He just laughs and says, "Nope, they don't check anything. You just drop the paper into a box." I stopped dead. Are you telling me twenty of us are standing here in line just to drop a piece of paper into a freaking box?! He says, "Yep." Suddenly, some guy at the front of the line starts losing his mind, yelling, "Goddammit, you idiots! This bureaucratic harassment is absolute bullshit!" Then someone walks out of the town hall and asks, "What the hell are we waiting in line for just to toss a paper in a box?" And then, out of nowhere, everything speeds up. Within five minutes, I’m at the front, I walk inside, and I drop my paper in the box. The guy tells me we should have the IDs within 48 hours. I asked where we pick them up, and he says, "They just leave them in a box outside, and you come by to grab the envelope with your name on it."
I’m like, hold on... so there’s nobody actually working this? You just grab it? He says, "Yeah." I asked, "Wait, so anyone could just walk up and take someone else's ID?" And he just shrugs and says, "Sure could."

To wrap this circus up: anyone can write whatever nonsense they want to get an ID, and literally anyone can walk up and pick up anyone else's ID.
We had a line of 20 people formed just so we could shuffle into the building one by one to drop paper into a box without a single shred of verification. A box that could have been sitting outside the whole time, and we could have all just tossed our papers in without any line at all.
While we were waiting, everyone in line was chatting away, sharing pens... honestly, the only thing we didn't do was crack open a beer together.

America... the land of complete and utter idiots.

I mean, if it’s actually true that they pumped out half a million passes, then the whole idea of these permits is basically just one big, giant joke.
Gerald Kern77 said:Here you go, the legal amendments.

The legal foundation itself is airtight—the real question is whether the decision and its execution should have been more logical, perhaps accounting for a broader range of real-world scenarios.

Alright, so we've got you saying one thing, and then there's a Supreme Court judge saying something completely different. I guess everyone will just have to decide for themselves who's actually right about this.
Jerry Robinson56 said:They certainly do have a basis; the Law exists. 😁 I could even cite the specific article number for you.
It is a positive development that Bozinovic signed off on this... so perhaps put in a little effort instead of letting some fool who happened to be a top law student (which is a value judgment, not a fact 😁) and his buddy from the stables lecture us about the Constitution...
Quarantine isn't ineffective; on the contrary, it is always a reliable, conservative method. As for the claim that "the economy is suffering," that is nothing more than empty rhetoric. Money doesn't grow on trees; it is always "there"... the only question is the timing and the arrangement. Even anarcho-communists understand that.

Look, I’m not exactly a huge fan of the crew sitting on the Supreme Court right now—not by a long shot—but clearly, you've got a better handle on this than they do! I mean, seriously, which law is actually in effect here that lets them just shut down the entire country? Especially when we're talking about a situation where the infectious disease is already everywhere... it's not like some tiny little corner of the country is under quarantine to stop it from spreading out, right? It's everywhere!
Adam Collins4 said:Listen, let’s clear the air—nobody here ever talks about actual war stories. If I actually started diving into what things were really like back then, you probably wouldn't get a wink of sleep. Honestly, if you're the kind of sensitive soul who gets worked up just thinking about someone being out of sight for a little while, you’d be running straight to the cops or trying to bust through police blockades at the first sign of trouble. You just aren't built for this stuff.

Honestly, I can't say I'm surprised by your take—it’s not exactly groundbreaking. We saw plenty of people acting just like this back during the early '90s—folks who were more concerned with looking out for their own skin than actually standing up for any real principles or bigger ideals. It’s the same old story, really.

People like you aren't ever going to get people like me—and honestly, I’m not sure we even want to. It’s just one of those things.

Look, I get it. I was eighteen once too—just a kid, really—living abroad when everything kicked off. And then, suddenly, I found myself back home, stepping up to defend my own country.

And no, I wasn't crying just because I won't be seeing someone for a while...

Nothing special? Just the usual.

Having some trouble with your internet connection or your cable signal?

Are you not getting the photos from Italy, Spain, or France?

Don't you ever just feel that sheer, overwhelming desperation coming off their medical staff? It’s palpable.

Look, I guess you’re probably tied up with something—or maybe just too busy to actually make time to see anyone...

And people should just drop dead if anyone dares to claim this isn't a big deal... honestly.

Honestly, it’s just painful watching how people can be this clueless and uninformed when we literally have the entire internet at our fingertips...

Yet here we go again, with more nonsense claiming this is just like the flu...

The R0 for the flu is around 1.4 to 1.7—but the R0 for this crap is pushing 4...

By all means, feel free to show me some photos or videos where "just the flu" causes this kind of total meltdown in the healthcare system or carries this much mortality...

Ten percent of the dead in Italy—and you're out here rambling about the flu...

If I recall correctly—and I remember pretty clearly because it totally floored me—our Secretary of Health actually compared Covid to the flu right when things were starting to spiral here in America. So, yeah... that tells you everything you need to know about the people running this place... 🤦
electrichound22 said:When exactly do you think this mandate is actually going to kick in?
Are we looking at the whole month of April, maybe stretching into May?

Well, until the next election, I guess. They gotta stick to that promise about letting us work from home—and maybe throw in an $8,000 bonus if we give them another term!
