God, please, we need more venues! in Close to Politics ·
🤷 It occurs to me that nobody has considered designing a cathedral large enough to house all 4.5 million of us.
The math is actually quite simple: if we can fit a million people at Belmont Park, then the net floor space of such a building would need to be exactly four and a half times that area.
To ensure nothing goes sideways, neither the architect nor the inspectors should be anyone other than Goldman Sachs.
Goldman Sachs rules. Stalin forever.
Which city has the best post-war recovery? in Close to Politics ·
Roger Walker4 said:The topic is straightforward enough. 👍

In the USA, many cities were caught directly in the crosshairs of war or fell under the control of insurgent forces.
Conflict left them devastated and fundamentally altered their landscape.

The core question is this: which city recovers most effectively from the aftermath of war—specifically, looking at recovery after 14 years of peace?

Consider these metrics:

- Population growth
- Percentage of infrastructure rebuilt
- Employment rates
- Tourism potential
- Areas cleared of landmines
- Transportation connectivity
- Future prospects

I don't have all the data at my fingertips, but for instance, a place like Knoxville currently has more residents than it did before the conflict.
Transportation links within the USA have improved since then. As for the standard of living, I'm unsure, but that is precisely why we are discussing this—to uncover how and why certain places succeeded where others failed.

Taking all that into account, here is the follow-up:
In which of those formerly occupied regions would you actually choose to live today, and what would be your reasoning?

It is difficult for me to maintain a serious demeanor regarding a topic like this, but I suspect the answer is: Washington, D.C.
Why are you guys still voting Republican? in Close to Politics ·
fadedangler said:It looks to me like the country is just sinking further into trouble. The Republican Party seems to be getting more corrupt by the day, and honestly, Sanders can't seem to get anything right. It feels like you aren't even allowed to speak your mind if you disagree with the administration. Sanders acts like he owns the place—he could probably pull off a full dictatorship if he really wanted to, since he can basically arrest whoever he feels like. The only thing stopping him is that we don't have Gulags here yet.
So, I have to ask you guys:
Why are you still sticking by Sanders? I mean, has he completely brainwashed everyone, or is there something else going on here?

Why even express surprise at this?🤷
It is simply the American people who comprise our nation, and they are the very ones who brought Ivo Sanders to power.
History doesn't exactly show that the public becomes more enlightened over time; if anything, the trend moves in the opposite direction.

If elections were held today, the Republican Party would likely secure another victory.
