lonedrifter15 said:You totally misread me—I’m not out here trying to flip products or acting as some kind of personal shopper for everyone else. All I was doing was pointing out that there are actually other ways to shop besides hitting up our overpriced local boutiques. 😉 Honestly, it used to be unthinkable for me to buy even a basic piece of clothing without trying it on first. But once you actually give it a shot and realize how good it feels... 😁
And look, if you’re stressing about the sizing, just grab a size up—it’s not a big deal. A decent tailor can tweak a dress to fit your curves perfectly without breaking a sweat.

Signing off, Kimberly Perez3 🙂

I’ve shopped online plenty of times and it’s fine as long as you nail the size. Most sites give you measurements in inches, so you can see exactly what you need. My only hesitation is always shoes—maybe ballerinas, and even then, only the ones with that stretchy elastic bit around the edge.

John Ramirez4 said:Ulla is certainly decent enough—the quality holds up—but I have to admit, it’s a bit of a stretch for the wallet 😢 For instance, you might find yourself paying $97 for a single shirt, and even then, the cut tends to run a little long through the sleeveless portions $167.
Up until fairly recently, I used to pick up most of my wardrobe at Neckermann, but since they shuttered their doors here in the States, I’ve transitioned over to C&A or H&M
. 🙂 Honestly, I couldn't be more satisfied with the change
.

Does anyone know if there’s an Ulla Popken in Los Angeles? Also, from what I’ve gathered, finding a shirt in a $97 larger size usually means a great deal. Or am I just looking at the expensive stuff because that’s my style?! 😁😍. In LA, I have a few go-to spots where I can actually shop without having a total meltdown over tiny sizes and cheap fabrics. My favorites are Modana at the local mall and City Center, Monsoon downtown, plus Lantea and Marina Rinaldi. I can pick up bits and pieces here and there at other places, but since I wear a US size 14 or 16, those specific shops are my lifesavers. But like I said, you get what you pay for regarding quality.

So, I swung by Target last week and managed to snag a few bits—a little black sleeveless dress, a knit tee, and a cardigan, all cotton blends... nothing groundbreaking, just classic basics that get the job done. Honestly, they feel like those basic Gap tees you'd see in an old sitcom.

So, my friend and I hit up the mall in downtown Chicago the other day. We’re both pretty curvy—she’s more busty, while I’ve got the classic hourglass thing going on with my hips and waist—and we ended up spending a good chunk of time at Monsoon. Honestly, they had some killer stuff. It’s not exactly budget-friendly, like, don't expect clearance rack prices, but they actually carry sizes up to 50. We literally walked in and immediately asked, "Hey, what's the largest size you carry?" because finding stuff that fits is basically a sport for us. Plus, the styles aren't tacky or anything; it's not that "old lady" vibe you get sometimes. They actually have pieces that are genuinely fun and cute!

Look, I’m all for free speech—I’d never support burning "controversial" books or anything like that. So, I feel the same way about these kinds of movies being shown on network TV. If people want to watch them, go right ahead. Honestly, if you haven't seen stuff like this yet, maybe it's time you saw how they used to manipulate us back in the day. Let people see it and decide for themselves. Hopefully, everyone’s got enough common sense to watch it and figure out whether it's actually okay or just total garbage.

Noah Cruz75 said:That's just how it works. Dolly Parton had to become Prince, Snow White is basically Britney Spears now, Madonna is killing it, and Beyoncé is turning into an American, a Mexican, who knows what else. It’s all just business.
By the way, I had no idea there were so many dinosaurs or nationalists hanging out on this forum.

What do you mean by "old-school"? Are they out of touch because they won't listen to the Mexican Woman, or because they're annoyed she's selling herself out for a few thousand US Dollars? And since when is sticking to your own roots and identity—without acting like a jerk about it—considered "nationalistic"? To each their own. You gotta respect yourself first if you want anyone else to respect you.

Charles Jackson5 said:Severina is just some typical North American socialite who’s spent her whole career following the well-worn path laid out by local wannabes and clout chasers.
Honestly, the only thing I find amusing is how she keeps wrapping herself in the flag to play the patriot—acting all nationalistic one minute, then leaning into that Mexican woman vibe the next. It’s all just proof of how deep this swamp goes—full of sharks and bottom-feeders circling around their queen of filth.
And you know what happens? People will still cheer for her. It’s pathetic how these exhausted, broken-down parts of the country have zero backbone or self-respect left.

🙂

I’m with you on this—I couldn't have put it better myself. Gross!

Dennis James10 said:To be perfectly honest, I have developed a genuine phobia of walking into boutiques and asking for a size 44 top or a 48 pant. Every single time—and I mean ABSOLUTELY every time—the sales associate gives me this once-over look before dropping a comment like, "We don't carry such large sizes." Or even worse, they say it with that condescending little smirk! 🙄 Consequently, over the last couple of years, I have stuck strictly to "tried and true" stores where I know they carry my size. Thank you so much for the tip; I will certainly make a point to stop by the Lacoste locations nearby and see how the fit works out.😍

I can't stand those clerks in boutiques where the clothes are overpriced—they act like working in a high-end shop automatically makes them geniuses or supermodels. Like, sorry, you're just selling sweaters here! Though, to be fair, you occasionally find a decent, nice girl there, but it's rare. That’s why I prefer shopping at places where they actually know me. The staff are normal people who pretty much know my style and what fits, so it's way less of a headache.

Nicholas Wilson3 said:Hey! Do any of you fuller aunties shop online? And if so, could you maybe send some links my way?! 😁

I was shopping at... Matchesfashion.co.uk. Hands down the best. So, you type in your zip code—let’s say 90210—and what happens? The screen just fills up with designer handbags, leather belts, and scarves. Not a single piece of actual clothing in sight! I am actually dying here. 😂

Thank you for providing those additional insights regarding the local shops; however, I find myself in complete agreement with the vast majority of your observations and commentary! 😉

You can actually find larger sizes at Lacoste too (like 44-48), but man, you need some serious luck to catch them in stock. My recent finds? I snagged a size 46 Lacoste A-line skirt $73(on sale!), and a fuchsia pink wide-strap tank in a size 44 $100(also on sale)—both right here in sunny Florida. I’m stoked! Since their shop is right on my way through downtown, I always pop in to see if anything catches my eye. It actually feels like they might be moving clearance items from one store to another, because the stuff on sale now wasn't even in the regular collection when I saw it back in Miami. Even last year, I managed to grab two tops that I hadn't seen anywhere else before.

When I walk into those sketchy little boutiques with the racks of cheap clothes, I immediately ask the clerk which specific styles or cuts they know people usually hate. It saves me from wasting my breath digging through piles of junk just to find out a fit is garbage. Honestly, in some of the bigger spots—like Nordstrom or Macy's—they actually have the sense to keep things organized by size and style, instead of just making you hunt for a needle in a haystack.

Hey, Gerald Kern77! I’ve been scrolling through these threads and noticed we barely talk about clothes for curvy girls (like, maybe 20 extra pounds or so😢)—not that you guys aren't all built like supermodels! I’ve got a little extra weight here and there, and honestly, half the time I walk into a store and leave feeling as mad as a dog because they don't even carry my size! And look, I actually want to dress stylishly, not just hide under oversized sacks and baggy tees.
And don't even get me started on fashion magazines—they never feature anyone with curves! My personal take? Maybe curvy women are willing to drop more cash on nice stuff, but there’s nowhere to actually buy it. Or is there? Like, if you were in a place like Chicago, for example, would you find anything? (Aside from the big department stores like Macy's).
What’s your experience with shopping online? For instance, when I go on sites like Amazon and search for my size, I just see bags, shoes, belts, and socks, but zero actual clothes. I’m not really into those "plus-size" catalogs meant for huge people because I’m not *that* big, but I’m definitely not tiny either. So now what? Am I supposed to just sit at home in my sweats forever?😕
