Lost in space in Psychology ·
It’s all about practice! Once you get the hang of it, you'll be able to find your way around just fine. People always say women have a terrible sense of direction, but let's be honest—there are plenty of guys out there who couldn't find their way out of a paper bag either! Getting lost isn't just a minor inconvenience, though; sometimes it can turn into a total disaster... especially if you're wandering through a foreign country where you don't speak a word of the local language.

So, how do you actually learn this stuff??

Well, look, if you don't have a GPS or a map handy, the trick is to pick one permanent landmark—something massive, like a skyscraper, a huge shopping mall, or a stadium. Once you've got that anchor, try to memorize at least three other landmarks. Imagine you're walking through a crowded market in New Orleans—your first point might be a tall church steeple or some high-rise building visible from the narrow side streets. Then, spot a big department store nearby. After that, pick two more points, maybe a specific intersection or a famous monument, and mentally draw lines between them. You basically build a little mental grid in your head and navigate along those lines. It’s really not that hard, and honestly, with a bit of practice, you won't be getting lost anymore!

The truth is, I think my good intentions would just end up sending the world in hell. As bad as things are right now, they aren't the worst I can imagine... At least, that's how it feels to me! 😍

Do you really think that poking a tumor with a knife won't make it spread? 🤷The world is basically a giant karma factory—the lunatics are all out there in the streets while the sane folks stay tucked away inside their own little bubbles.

Gregory Jackson said:So, I’ve got this one old story for you—my former mentor once went on this wild streak where he played Lines for four days and four nights straight without even blinking. You know, that super simple game where you just try to line up five colored balls in a row? It was honestly kind of intense; they basically just kept him fueled up with food and water while he was totally locked in. Now, this guy is seriously enlightened—we're talking twenty years deep into this stuff, a really powerful presence. Anyway, when he caught a glimpse of what I was thinking about earlier, he made a point similar to one of those posts above, saying that it’s really all about the quality of your consciousness and how whole or integrated it feels, rather than the specific act itself. I guess what he meant was you could be in a state of total meditation while standing in line at a Target, or you could be in the middle of absolute chaos and still be "meditating." So, yeah, it doesn't really matter if you're playing Lines or whatever else; whether you're actually being "spiritual" or not just comes down to the depth and integrity of your awareness while you're doing it.

Actually, something just clicked for me!😁 Back when I used to play video games way more intensely, I was going through a pretty rough patch in life. I was dealing with some heavy stuff that I just couldn't wrap my head around on my own. During those times, gaming was such a lifesaver because my brain just needed that escape...🤷😕😕😕

Dana Ward17 said:What counts as "better use of time" is totally subjective. Personally, I see life like a ride at an amusement park—it’s short, so I just want it to be fun while it lasts. If video games make me happy, then I'm playing them. If digging ditches for 12 hours a day makes me happy, then that's what I'll be doing.

Modern-day Piti would put it this way:
"Tell me how you spend your downtime, and I'll tell you exactly what your fate holds..."

Kevin Gonzalez42 said:I feel like you might be getting a little too caught up in the whole spirituality thing. Honestly, I don't really see how being spiritual has anything to do with gaming. I mean, if you aren't feeling like going to church, then you just aren't feeling it—that doesn't have to impact your hobbies at all. If you’d much rather spend your time having fun with some video games instead of sitting through a sermon or praying, that is totally fine by me. You don't have to be a spiritual or religious person to enjoy yourself. So, if you love gaming, just go out there and play! It’s just as valid a hobby as anything else out there. On the flip side, if you do want to lead a spiritual life, you can absolutely still do that, even if you happen to play games a whole lot.

I was just sitting here thinking about why people always seem to label playing video games as such a waste of time. I mean, I guess it’s easy to judge from the outside, but it makes me wonder—is reading a book considered "productive"? What about watching movies, or getting out there and playing sports? Everyone seems to have their own way of unwinding, so I don't really get why some people feel the need to characterize someone else's hobby as just throwing time away. It feels a bit unnecessary, doesn't it? Maybe we should all just let people enjoy what they love.

I mean, He-man, who was such a huge hit about twenty years ago, wasn't even violent at all—not even close. And don't even get me started on the "classics" like Tom & Jerry. I can't count how many times that cat got beat up. I guess the reality is that people just find other people's stupidity or accidents funny; that's pretty much why modern sitcoms are considered the peak of comedy. To be honest, I can't really recall a single funny movie that featured perfectly normal characters (you know, people who aren't clumsy, awkward, or confused). People just love that stuff. I mean, who hasn't laughed at Charlie Chaplin (well, except maybe me).

I really think you guys are doing a disservice by romanticizing the past like this.

Quality is totally subjective.

They don't know the first thing about spirituality, and honestly, they’re just wasting your precious time when you could be doing something much more meaningful. Aside from constant violence, there isn't really anything else on the menu.
If you think they're "recreating" you... please. What they're actually recreating is a lifestyle fueled by drugs, booze, and nothing but sex.😁

PS I haven't touched video games in ages, and even back when I used to play, I never went for the shooters...

Religion is just a facade, a hollow shell used to manipulate the masses for selfish gain. To those who are truly pure—real believers who live their truth through their actions and mirror the Divine within us—it’s essentially worthless.

But do all these "true believers" actually agree on the core message behind all these different religions?

Look, let's be honest: everyone here on this forum shares the exact same drive right now—the desire to convince others that our specific perspective is the right one.

Not exactly everyone, though! A huge number of believers act like missionaries, but only a tiny handful actually try to get people to think for themselves or question the core tenets of their faith.

I am speaking from what is written in humanity's most ancient text—the Bible. This comes after an exhaustive search for truth through a sea of sacred writings—Hinduism, Buddhism, Shintoism, Confucianism, Islam, Christianity, Judaism... and even the revealed works of various "enlightened" souls.

The Bible isn't even the oldest book out there...

After putting in the actual work to hunt for the truth and comparing them all, I concluded that everything is distilled within the person of Jesus Christ. He embodies the answers that other spiritual giants have only just begun to touch upon.

That sounds wonderful... you've got Jesus, so life isn't boring. You've found your way.

It is all so simple yet so profound, infused with sincere love in every single aspect of His teaching and life. It was all validated by the most selfless sacrifice imaginable for every lost soul hungry for LIBERATION—for TRUTH.

Sounds idyllic... but is it actually true???

Much love, wearyrider16. ...(

...so what kind of point are you trying to make with that sentence??? 🤷 My dear wearyowl29, have you ever considered this: everything truly essential in life, starting with the spiritual stuff, is deep yet simple, obvious yet invisible to the physical eye!!! ...and a person's greatness comes from being able to recognize those things!!! 😉 Pozy. Hey there, my wonderful friends!!! 👍

My message is simple: the truth never dies. To anyone out there trying to claim they have the only version of reality? Forget about it! No one wins that fight!

True greatness isn't about how much space you take up; it’s really about how much you can handle when life forces you to stay small. It’s about that capacity to swallow your pride and hold steady when you're feeling insignificant. I was thinking about this while waiting in line at Starbucks this morning—just watching everyone rush around, trying so hard to be "someone." But honestly? Real strength is found in those moments where you choose to be humble instead of letting your ego run the show. Hey there! Just wanted to pop in and say hello. Hope everyone is having a fantastic day so far!

Countless truths?? Where on earth are you getting that from?? Isn't there just one single truth?

Well, look, there are plenty of truths on this planet, and every single one of them is true.😂

They only have partial insight.

In an imperfect world populated by imperfect beings, people possess imperfect insight—and consequently, they hold imperfect truths.

Take this, for instance: because so many people don't actually know the Truth, they end up inventing their own little rulebooks for how to act and live. Of course, the culture someone is born into and raised in plays a massive role in that! So, what do we end up with? Total chaos. We see massive divides in morality, spirituality, and ethics. It feels like everything goes, everyone thinks they're right, and everybody tries to play God!! In an environment like that, conflict, division, intolerance, injustice, unrest, hatred, and even full-blown wars become just part of our daily routine!! ... and all of this happens simply because everyone is setting their own personal standards and criteria... proudly trampling over the actual Truth because they don't even realize it exists!!

Just throw a little bit of seasoning on top of that, and you've got religion—where every single group claims they hold the exclusive Truth and is more than ready to "defend" it by forcing it on everyone else...

wearyrider16 said: 🤷 Can someone help me understand? ...why all this heavy philosophizing if everything is already laid out for us. Why bother acting smart or making up some personal version of "truth" when the truth is right there in front of us. It was revealed through someone who provided perfect wisdom and teachings that are easy to grasp—but only for those with an honest heart. For a heart like that, the truth just sticks! 🙂 ?? All we have to do is accept it and embrace it!!! Honestly, one wise and perfect man, even though he was rejected by many, once said: I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me (Jesus Christ). Why is that so hard to swallow?? Who does it bother so much, and what part is unclear that everyone feels entitled to invent their own version of a shared truth??? Maybe it's just to impress others with how much they know?? Or maybe people are just disappointed in those meant to carry the message??? Or what?? Truth can only be one thing. It’s simple. You don't need a PhD to find it!!! Without truth, there is no real path, and without the right path, there is no life!!! 😉 Btw, I'm not claiming these words as my own. I realized this while studying the life of Jesus Christ!! 🙂 + On our own, with our limited abilities, we can't truly know God or the truth about ourselves. We need humility, heart, and the spirit of wisdom that God provides!!! 🙂 Your forum friend wearyrider16!!! 👍

That's great for you👍 but honestly? You've just embraced one specific version of "truth" because it happens to fit your own personal criteria perfectly. It’s easy when things align! But others don't see it that way. They don't have that ready-made humble heart to just accept an answer; instead, they're out there searching, clawing through life with nothing but their bare teeth...

wearyrider16;29010740 You know, churches can actually be even more problematic than political parties. ... The Bible as the word of God (though plenty of folks argue it was just written by people to suit their own agendas, without any divine inspiration) truly has the power to liberate any soul searching for truth in this messy, corrupted world. Let me wrap up my thoughts with these deeply moving words from Jesus Christ; [B says:
... and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free! John 8:32. And honestly, a person without faith is just as dead. They become a slave to this twisted, corrupt world that relentlessly tramples, wounds, and bites at the inner child we all carry within us!!! Anyway, thanks for reading. 😉

You hit the nail right on the head... that idea of the Word of God—as if God went silent right after finishing it and hasn't said a thing since—is exactly how those groups, who are even worse than politicians, maintain control, just like you pointed out...

Truth sets you free... well, actually, truth imposes a duty... what really frees you is simply channeling your excess energy, whereas truth acts as an "obligation," both toward others and toward yourself.

The world only wounds those who allow themselves to be wounded.😉

Chris Peterson53 said:Death itself isn't actually the issue here.
We’ve basically turned an inevitable reality into some kind of boogeyman!
Some people refuse to even acknowledge their own mortality—while others are absolutely paralyzed by it.
But those who have actually stared into the abyss—those who've experienced clinical death—they come back with a completely different perspective on the end of this earthly journey.
It is honestly mind-boggling how much of our limited time on this planet we squander..
focusing on trivialities instead of soaking up the genuine beauty surrounding us...
the simple joys found in small moments,
the pure bliss of just existing,
or simply being grateful for the chance to be here at all...
Instead, we waste precious hours on hatred, resentment, petty competition, sabotaging our neighbors, and feeding our bloated egos through sheer triviality.
We should be living in Calm, finding harmony within ourselves and with every other living thing on this planet.
That’s why some people are so utterly blindsided when the end finally arrives—because they failed to realize, in time, that life and death are just two sides of the exact same coin.

It’s just like how we view good and evil—we tend to lump death in with the "bad" stuff and see life as the "good" part.

Fair point.

One of the most profound lessons you can ever learn in this life is acceptance. It’s actually an act of active Love—for yourself and everyone else. Instead of fighting against the current, you save your energy for the path you were meant to walk. That's why accepting the Valley of Tears is truly the best way to find happiness. I mean, true happiness as a baseline state of being. 🙂
A happy person isn't going to look at someone else's journey with envy or bitterness.

Honestly, I think we're talking more about letting go than acceptance. You see, you can acknowledge that someone is gone, but that doesn't mean you've actually let them go. Maybe it's just a semantic thing...🤷

That's a fantastic conclusion. I couldn't agree more! The void left behind when someone physically vanishes from our lives is just gut-wrenching. It hurts because it shatters our sense of security, and honestly, it makes us sob.

And that's exactly it! But here's the kicker—the absolute absurdity of it all. Look at believers... their loved ones head off to meet God or Allah... and people end up weeping because they're "jealous" that those folks get to go while they're stuck here, struggling away in the Valley of Tears...

I honestly can't stop thinking about Florine! There’s just something about her that stays with you, isn't there? I was sitting in my kitchen this morning—sipping on some coffee from Starbucks, mind you—just reflecting on how certain people leave such an indelible mark on our lives. It’s funny how that works! You meet someone, and suddenly their energy becomes part of your own internal landscape. Anyway, I digress! My point is, Florine is truly one of a kind. Just a bright, shining light in this big, messy world of ours. kaže:
How do you all approach the whole idea of death? Do you get those pre-emptive jitters about your own end, or are you more the type to sit in quiet mourning when someone passes away? Personally, I tend to drift into deep thought about it quite often! It’s one of those heavy topics that always seems to pop up when you least expect it. I find myself pondering the "big picture" more than I probably should. Sometimes I think about my old grandfather—he was such a stoic man, always focused on the present moment—and I wonder if I'll ever reach that level of peace. Anyway, I’m curious! Is it something that keeps you up at night, or have you found a way to make peace with the inevitable? Let's chat!

Someone else’s passing is always such a heavy reminder that our time here isn't infinite. It hits you right in the chest! But honestly? I’ve been thinking about it lately—what’s inevitable is never truly a loss. We aren't just vanishing into thin air. Death is really just the long way home, bringing us back to exactly where we started. It’s all part of the cycle!

Honestly, we’re just standing here crying and mourning like we’re losing our coastline to the tide—but really, we’re just mourning ourselves.
We really are selfish to the core, aren't we? It’s just one of those things. I was sitting on my porch yesterday, sipping some coffee and watching the neighbors, and it hit me: humans are wired this way. We focus on ourselves more than we care to admit!

Sandra Morgan2 said:I heard a great joke about feminism last night, so I just had to share it with you all:

Three feminists—one from England, one from Germany, and one from the States—are sitting around debating their rights and how they’ve managed to get their husbands to actually show them some respect.

The American says, "I told my John, no more bowling nights or hanging out at the pub. You can't just go out and have fun while I'm stuck at home after work, doing everything for the kids." Well, nothing changed the first day. Nothing on the second day. But by the third day? He cleaned up the living room, dusted the whole house, and took the kids to the park!"

Then the German woman says, "I told my Hans, no more fishing trips or hitting the bars. I can't carry the weight of the finances, the house, and the kids alone—you either help me or move out." Again, nothing happened the first day, and nothing on the second. But on the third day, instead of heading out, he made dinner, served it, and then did all the dishes!"

Finally, the American woman says, "I told my husband, no more late nights at the pub with the guys, no more football, and no more sitting in front of the TV. You're going to help me with the kids and the housework." On the first day, nothing. On the second day, still nothing. But on the third day, I noticed a little bit of a twitch in his left eye."

😁😂😁

Honestly, it’s just that classic American marriage struggle, and it’s more sad than it is funny...

I suspect this is just a common prejudice. I honestly don't see why some people insist on treating it like some absolute, undeniable truth. 🤷

We are totally on the same page here. I truly believe that when a person becomes more self-aware, they start taking better care of themselves. They aren't going to go overboard with booze or those kinds of wild parties—they become more responsible. After all, your body is a temple, and you have to keep it in shape!

But, if the body becomes the *only* goal—if every single bit of attention is focused solely on physical perfection—then something is definitely off. It's like some strange, glitchy program has taken over our spirit.
