Noah Perez2 said:Damn, what an absolute fortress you've built here. Respect. 🙏 🙏

Is it actually worth my time to slog through 50 pages of backlog? 🍿

Whatever, at least it happened—better than living in North Korea with a bunch of echo chambers.

Elizabeth Mendoza said:Honestly, the constant drop in infection numbers here in Los Angeles (only 5 new cases today!) totally baffles me, especially since half the city is out on the streets all day long. I’m going to go quickly knock on every single wooden surface I have in my apartment.

it's because there's no Holy Mass

Elizabeth Mendoza said:From what I can tell over the last few days, most of the new infections are hitting nursing homes. I’m guessing they're mostly private facilities—I mean, judging by those recent segments on investigative news shows, it seems like any random person can walk in and get a job there, so it’s hardly surprising.

In our facility in Placer, we have 12 positive residents. Over in our Dubrovnik home, we ran 133 swabs in the last 24 hours, and all results came back yesterday. We have six positives there: five residents, one staff member, plus we already had one resident testing positive previously. We also run a smaller facility called "Florence" in Seget Vranjic where there's one positive resident. In Makarska, we have three positive residents and one staff member, and in Dicm, we have two positives.

So basically, out of 50 new cases today, 24 of them trace back to nursing homes.🙏

And who’s actually to blame here? It's not like you can just pop up a nursing home overnight in your backyard. That state-run facility over on Main Street is where we're seeing the highest infection rates, anyway.

Meanwhile, you walk into any store and there's always more than five people waiting—honestly, in some of the bigger places, I've seen like ten workers on staff at once. It's a joke. I wonder what kind of "scientific method" they used to come up with that number five?

Amy Nelson4 said:So, the deputy chief over at PUSD is claiming they were out there doing field checks on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday at 8 AM—all officially logged. But honestly? There was nobody around during those times—except for people showing up for Holy Mass at 10. Regarding this morning's service, he’s basically saying everyone stuck to the one-meter distancing rules, and there's nothing more he can do about it.

Honestly, the massive elephant in the room is that nursing home over on El Paso Street. They’ve got 45 infected people there and people are actually dying—all chronic patients, obviously—which is a much bigger deal. Heads should be rolling for that, but instead, we're wasting time obsessing over some clueless cop and someone's phone being snatched.

There you go—clearly the doors were locked and people were just hanging out outside, but then this genius tries to force her way in... she's basically begging for trouble from Anthony Jackson2

Look, she didn't just barge into someone's private living room; she entered a space where anyone is permitted to be at that hour.

"You're intruding on people" 🙏

And if she was able to walk in, then a hundred other people could have just as easily done the same. It’s a good thing they have more common sense than this fool, who probably would have dropped dead if it weren't for holding Mass.

She’s intruding because she didn't show up to pray—she showed up to cause a scene.

Ryan Vaughn7 said:I can't believe we're actually seeing this happen—people filming the authorities while they try to enforce rules during a crisis. It’s wild how everything has turned into a spectacle lately. You see these videos everywhere now, people holding up their phones like it's some kind of frontline reporting, trying to catch every little detail of what the police or officials are doing. It honestly feels like society is just spiraling into this weird loop where everyone is watching everyone else, waiting for someone to mess up. It’s exhausting, really. One minute you're just trying to exist, and the next, you're part of some viral moment because someone decided to hit record. It makes you wonder if anyone is actually looking at the bigger picture anymore, or if we're all just too busy documenting the chaos to actually deal with it. Just my two cents, but man, things are getting messy.

Seriously, this is just sick again. It’s honestly stated perfectly in the article—they aren't even focusing on anything that actually matters. Like, you've got doctors out there literally warning about equipment shortages, only to get bullied and threatened with being fired for speaking up. Meanwhile, what this crowd is doing is just manufacturing social tension—which, let's be real, is the only thing these bloodsuckers need to survive. Even in isolation, they just can't leave well enough alone.

bluebison47 said:What actually matters more here? What's the real priority? Is it protecting privacy on someone's private property, or is it following the Law—you know, the kind that's directly tied to protecting public health? I mean, I guess it's a tough one... maybe. It feels like we're constantly torn between the two.

That’s... I mean, that's like saying we shouldn't care if there's white powder being moved around or violence happening in some nursing home, right? Because, well, have I ever heard of private property? I guess... maybe? It's just... it's a bit much, isn't it?🕺

Protecting public health? Hahahahaha. Like, only 30 people die a day from cigarettes in America, so nobody gives a damn—just hike up the prices so they can line their pockets and call it "public health safety." Meanwhile, for the director of a nursing home, they just put a history professor in charge hahahahaha.

urbanhawk17 said:The Italians went into quarantine back on March 9th.

Today, there are 4,000 new infections.

It makes sense that numbers dropped by maybe 1,000 or 2,000, since there aren't really many people left to catch it.☕

But I don't really see any sign that their quarantine is actually working.🤷

I guess we just have to sit tight and wait for Daddy Gates to whip up some miracle vaccine—you know, our dear old benefactor and humanitarian hero.

Paul Martinez73 said:Actually, I did see it—the priest mentioned there were baptisms happening today and noted that the TV crew was there and that the mass was being recorded. Neither the Mayor of New York City, who owns the stadium, nor the club president are out there filming. You get permission to film either verbally or in writing if you need to.

Did I ever actually say it was okay for someone to snatch her phone?

All I said is that we shouldn't act surprised. If you walk in there specifically looking to provoke people, you can't complain when someone grabs your phone right out of your hand...

People are making this huge deal out of one guy grabbing a phone, acting like those twenty old guys from the Church beat her to death inside the Cathedral.

It's like if you showed up in the stands surrounded by Hooligans to film; you wouldn't be shocked if someone threw a drink at you and your phone ended up flying onto the field. You're choosing to provoke them.

Like Susan Kim2 said, she reacted the way she did, and that guy reacted the way he did. Now everyone is attacking the entire Church and every single person who was inside, when really, this whole conflict was just between three specific individuals...🤷

And you're twisting it by asking if different rules apply to them? No, it's clearly stated that both of them were taken in. 🤷

Wait, they actually got detained? Are you serious? Just for someone grabbing a phone? 🙏

Susan Kim2 said:I don't know what you were expecting. A schizophrenic priest who does whatever he wants, ignoring everyone else because he simply doesn't care? He acts like he doesn't give a damn what the Pope thinks, as if they aren't even living in the same century. He’s intentionally provoking people by announcing a Mass five or six days in advance, acting as if he’s above the state, above the universe itself.
He isn't unique. Half these old-school priests act the same way after they retire to the countryside. This one just landed in the spotlight because of his arrogance before falling back into his rural ways, so there's really no need to defend him.

It’s the same deal with the reporter. Would she have walked into a church, seen a three-foot gap between every believer, and realized there were only about 20 people inside, and then turned that into a headline? Of course not. Just like she didn't make a story about any other park in the city or Madison Square Garden. She focused on the Mass service, even though she could have reported on the ban without filming inside.
And let's be honest, there are always difficult people at Mass. They get yelled at beforehand and still take communion.

All in all, it’s a sad scene involving all of them. You have the arrogant priest, the reporter looking to film extremists and getting exactly what she wanted, and the locals who snatched her phone.
Now we have two polarized camps. One side claims all believers are extremists, while the other thinks they are above the law—praying in churches and "following the cross," as one user proudly put it, even though they were probably just as heartbroken when Notre Dame burned.

restlesssurfer97 said:Anyway, it’s honestly kind of wild how a topic this "insignificant" managed to spark an entire multi-page debate over on Reddit. We can go ahead and trash the media all we want, but at the end of the day, they’re really just serving us exactly what we’re looking for.

And here's another thing, I feel like the whole idea that the media dictates public opinion is pretty outdated now, because everything today is driven by clicks, and the algorithms give such a crystal clear picture of what people actually care about versus what they ignore. Nowadays, the media just feeds us whatever we’re already hunting for, more than anyone ever could before, and everything is basically custom-tailored just for us.

NOPE! First, they thoroughly brainwash us, and *then* they serve us whatever our lobotomized minds are craving. For instance, I’d love to know which organizations and interest groups are bankrolling most of the media outlets here in America—I'd love to see the actual names and the money involved. But yeah, I'm sure I'll never see that coming.

The media absolutely shapes public opinion. If you don't buy that, try walking down the street today and let out an intentional sneeze—you'll see the looks those brainwashed people give you, staring like you're standing in a firing squad.

neonfalcon16 said:Call me crazy, call it a conspiracy theory if you want, but I refuse to believe it’s just a coincidence that this all traces back to San Francisco. It feels calculated. Somehow, every bizarre scandal or piece of bad news coming out of that city gets massive coverage. Whether it's a polished report or just a desperate grab for clicks, there's a pattern here. It’s almost as if there’s a deliberate effort to paint the people there as xenophobic and narrow-minded.
Honestly, I highly doubt we'd see this kind of media frenzy if the exact same story broke in a small town like Des Moines, or maybe somewhere quiet like Boise or even a tiny village in rural Nebraska.

I don't know, man, but I'm definitely picking up on the same vibe. Setting aside the whole pandemic mess, it's wild how much the media loves to go after San Francisco and its people. One day they're all fascists, the next they're "stuck in the past," then homophobic—and now suddenly all the kids are hanging out behind tinted windows (not that there's any actual proof or photos, obviously). Honestly, thank God the virus didn't start in San Francisco... I can't even imagine the absolute circus that would have been.

brightpilot6 said:Of course she was looking for a story; that’s literally what a journalist does. And honestly, she found one just by the sheer fact that the mice were being kept there in the first place.

Yet, according to your logic, she was also looking for aggression. It’s actually quite surprising to see such a stance—it feels dangerous when people make these kinds of sweeping judgments from a distance without really thinking it through. Isn't it essentially providing a moral excuse for anyone who happens to dislike a certain reporter to just label them as nitpicky or something similar?

I suppose we should apply that same logic to all the journalists who faced heat from folks like Bandic or Mamic, shouldn't we? At the end of the day, they simply got exactly what they went looking for.

And what did the media actually do regarding Mamic? Nothing. They played dumb, laughed at the press conferences, and basically worshipped the manager of the North America. Did you forget all that? It’s not even a scandal to them anymore when the younger brother moves back in, or when the board acts like it's totally fine that the club has been looted for hundreds of millions of dollars. Journalism in America has hit rock bottom—shameful levels, really. An independent reporter who actually wants to cover crime or corruption will barely find work anywhere, maybe some tiny, pathetic blog, but mostly they just chase crumbs to pay their bills. Meanwhile, nobody wants to touch the big stuff, like who actually destroyed our immune systems? Nobody’s gonna ask the local politicians about the lack of equipment in hospitals, or who's to blame because that nursing home didn't even have gloves or masks and half the place caught COVID? When things get real, suddenly journalism doesn't exist.
