hahaha, right, Kirby vacuum cleaners... I love that old trick where they tell you to run yours first, then they follow up with the Kirby just to show off how much more junk it can pull out (you just stick a rag inside the hose and suddenly it’s covered in a ridiculous amount of dust).

Then you hit them back with a little challenge: tell them to shove a cloth into your vacuum and suck up everything left behind Kirby's path... and you just sit there watching the color drain from their face when they see what ended up on that rag. 😁

It’s tough because you can always tell when someone’s being messy just by looking at their bank account.

Man, it’s a shame none of those six remaining establishment types decided to run

Jeffrey Long said:Tommy got into it with a reporter today over why Holy Spirit Church is footing the bill for PR services $10,000 for Ankica Mamić $21. It’s a bit much, especially since he’s always complaining about how broke we are. 😁

What exactly did his argument look like?

If the IRS comes knocking, you just tell them it was a gift from your dad—which is why it’s vital to do a direct bank transfer so there’s a clear paper trail... gifts like that aren't taxable. From there, they might follow up with him to ask where he got the funds, and he can simply provide the evidence of his source of wealth.

The easiest way is just to use online banking to transfer the funds from your checking account to yours—assuming they're in dollars. If anything flags, the bank will just ask for some documentation regarding the source of the funds.

Big retail chains are greedy bastards. They might try to suck up to Tommy to get permission to carry the bags, but I highly doubt they’re going to run over to the Sanitation Department to volunteer for anything.
Back when I was working in wholesale, we had to cough up something like $4 million just for the privilege of using their shelves, and then we'd have to move $15 million worth of inventory that they'd probably pay for whenever they felt like it.

The real difference is being in a spot where you have to beg just to get your product onto a shelf because your entire business model depends on it—versus having a product that people simply have to buy, whether it's at Walmart or somewhere else.
Besides, The New York Times newsstands carry way more variety than what you'll find at Lidl or Walmart. 😁

Nobody from their crew ever showed up at our place; if anything, we were always the ones begging them to hire us.
Maybe they'll rush over to the Sanitation Department for the sake of Saint Tomica just to chase a few extra bucks from selling trash bags.

They might jump at the chance, or maybe they won't. It's also possible their sales will tank because everyone will head to Walmart for bags and pick up everything else there instead, leaving them to scramble later.

If they actually bothered to check Walmart, Target, and a few other places, they’d probably just complain about how much time they're wasting instead of actually putting out a public call for bids.

If this whole broom situation is actually true, it’s an absolute disgrace. Honestly, I'm just glad JOHABI was the one to call it out.
It would be truly wonderful if she applied that same level of analytical rigor to procurement processes, especially considering her favorite party is currently running the show.
Eric Adams - Mayor of New York City, Part 4 in Political Scene ·
Good grief, if you get an offer for $50 per broom, but it's obvious you could just pick up the exact same thing at Target for $13, can you actually just decide to buy it there for 40? Or are you forced to put out a formal bid?
Eric Adams - Mayor of New York City, Part 4 in Political Scene ·
Exactly. You can't put a composting site out in Brezovica because the locals there will lose their minds. You can't build a landfill in Resnick because those residents will complain too. Even an incinerator is off the table since nobody actually wants one in their backyard.
I mean, damn, trash has to go somewhere to be recycled, sorted, or burned... everyone understands the logic. But apparently, nobody wants to be the one living next to it.

Watching the game right next to that mummy was a massive fail on his part... you shouldn't be giving criminals any kind of legitimacy

Roger James2 said:The conflict of interest commission just weighed in on that whole Tesla situation today:

“Based on all the evidence and paperwork gathered for this case, the commission has advised the individual that this compensation—set at such a flat, lump-sum rate—is in direct violation of the municipal conglomerate’s company vehicle usage policy. Furthermore, using private vehicles for official business effectively counts as receiving extra pay for public duties, which is strictly prohibited under Article 7 d) of the ZSSI”

So, where does that leave us? 🤣☕🍿

Honestly, they clearly have no idea how to play the game. You don't do flat rates; you just file fake mileage reports and walk away with even more than those $2667

Alex Moore3 said:That's funny. I thought you were supposed to be facing elections in 3 years too?
Apparently, that's actually possible.☕
The worst ones are the people trying to scare us into thinking we'll regret our vote. They don't care about our actual issues, yet they act so certain that we'll end up crying over whoever takes charge and becomes responsible for those exact problems a year from now.
So, a little advice: take a breath and just focus on picking the best mayor this Sunday. Pick the one who works for you, not for those of us who don't live in Miami.

Look, I lived in New York City until just a few months ago, so I know exactly what those problems look like... but like I said, thank God, I don't have to deal with them anymore. Now I've got other things on my plate, which hopefully the new administration will sort out.

And yeah, early elections are possible. But do you honestly think anyone would step down unless they were 100% sure they'd win again?
Which brings me to... why on earth would Eric Adams resign if he saw there was no chance of winning?

For me, the bigger issue isn't even the trucks being used for short-term rentals, it's more about how they're currently messing around with some of the streets

but the elections aren't even happening yet
you’re stuck with Eric Adams for another three years, dammit... nothing's changing, no matter how much people were hoping for a miracle
Eric Adams - Mayor of New York City, Part 4 in Political Scene ·
"Is there any chance the mayor might step down if people keep pushing back?"

It’s possible... but how realistic is it that he'd actually quit just to run again later? Why even bother?
Basically, if he walks away, the whole party platform falls apart and they won't even show up on the ballot.
In that scenario, you'll be stuck choosing between the Republicans or the Democratic Party (thank God, I'm passing on that—my vote's due in three days).

If that happens, good luck to you... you'll be crying for Trump once Donald Trump and Herman take over the city.

you still haven't explained how we're supposed to see this all play out in less than three years
