Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
neonstag63 said:5 lbs in 8 days? 😲
That sounds like it could definitely be the culprit—though usually, symptoms from losing weight that fast show up as a missed period rather than an early one... but who knows.🤔

I haven't been on the pill for that long—only about a year—but my OB-GYN warned me at the start that after taking them for a few years, things can get weird. Like, you might bleed mid-pack or skip a month entirely. Maybe that's just what's happening with you.

Any chance you missed a pill by mistake?

It also seems logical to me that intense workouts and sudden weight loss would cause a missed period, not this.

I've been on mine for eight years, and every single month for all eight years, it's arrived right on time... down to the hour.

I haven't missed a single one—that's the first thing I checked.

I don't know, I'm no genius. I'm waiting until next week to see if it shows up—then at least I'll know if this was just some breakthrough bleeding, and then I'll head to the doctor to figure out the cause. I had a checkup exactly a month ago and everything was fine.

P.S. As for the baby, I know it sounds extreme, but I'm not starving myself or falling apart—so things are good.😉

Hey, has anyone dealt with their period coming early while on the pill?

Here's the deal: I'm on Lyndinette 30 and my last pill is this Sunday—so I should be getting my period next Wednesday, right? Well, I've had this light spotting for five days now. At first, I just figured it was typical breakthrough bleeding... but then it turned into a full-on heavy flow. Started cramping yesterday too, so yeah, feels like the real deal.

Honestly, I’m lost. The only thing I can think of is linking this to my diet and workout routine—I've dropped 5 kg in the last 8 days. Anyone else ever gone through something like this?
Of course you're protected. Most of us deal with spotting or heavier flows for half the month anyway—it’s nothing out of the ordinary.
Walter Ramirez3 said:Hey,

Is it normal to experience some spotting after using the same birth control pills for a year and a half? It happened right after my 12th pill...

Could this be linked to ramping up my workouts and changing my diet? 🤷

Should I be worried? This has never happened before, so I'm lost. My appointment with the OB-GYN isn't until Thursday, and I just can't wait for an opinion...

It’s possible, but don't go playing doctor and jumping to conclusions—just get to the clinic ASAP. It might be the diet and exercise, sure, but it could also be purely hormonal stuff that has zero to do with your workout routine.

Are you dealing with anything else besides the bleeding? For me, bleeding happens (badly) on basically every brand I’ve tried—they work fine for a few months or maybe a couple of years, and then suddenly there’s bleeding, plus weight gain, depression, all that jazz. I feel like I’ve cycled through every pill under the sun; Loestrin was the absolute worst for me, but I'm on Yaz now and things are *relatively* okay so far.

Bottom line: see your doctor and get it checked out.

quietfox384 said:If you’re running into issues with those specific factors—well, then oral contraceptives probably aren't the right choice for you at all.
Now, the real question is what exactly those tests showed, and where specifically things went sideways. Your primary care physician will likely be able to walk you through the details much better than anyone else here.

Hard agree—don't mess around with this. Just because everything was fine before doesn't mean much; there are plenty of reasons why your levels or how your body reacts could shift. Honestly, the whole schedule your doctor gave you sounds pretty weird to me.🤷
Chill out, don't freak or lose your mind, but definitely hit up your primary care doc and your OB-GYN (and maybe even get a second opinion if you need to) to actually understand what your labs are saying.

Megan Myers88 said:Is it actually normal to still be dealing with acne after being on the pill for about 10 months? Specifically Logest. Honestly, my skin is acting totally bipolar—some days it’s fine, other days it’s just a complete disaster. It feels like the breakouts are even worse than before sometimes. They mostly flare up right before my period hits, and they’re pretty painful, too.

On top of that, my periods have become super heavy since starting Logest, which definitely wasn't the case before. How open-minded are doctors usually when it comes to switching brands because of stuff like this?

Any decent doctor should be willing to switch things up. If you feel like Loestral isn't working for you—and clearly it isn't—you've got every right to ask for something else.

Benjamin Martin65 said:Does anyone happen to know which specific tests I should probably have done before I actually start taking the pills? 🙂 I’d really love to get all my ducks in a row before I head in to see my gynecologist.
I’m aware that I definitely need to get some liver function tests checked out, but, err, what else should be on my radar?

Don't bother doing anything until you actually see the doc. You go to the OB-GYN first to get the referrals—they're the ones who decide which specific tests you actually need before you start the meds.

BUT NOT RUNNING OR POWER WALKING, just a light stroll...😁

Facts—but first you actually have to manage to get out of bed without screaming and doubling over in agony. For a lot of people, a walk isn't even an option, unfortunately. 😢

This happened to me on basically every pill I've ever been on. Everything’s fine for months—then suddenly, out of nowhere, the bleeding starts right when I’ve got maybe 5 or 3 pills left in the pack. It gets pretty unbearable :/
It was especially brutal when I was on Loestrin—honestly thought I was going to die from the cramps and how much blood there was. My doctor switches my prescription every single time this starts happening... I'm just terrified that one day we'll hit a point where there aren't any options left to try. If I were you, I'd go see your doctor ASAP; they'll probably just put you on something a bit milder.
Ovaries: Cysts and related issues [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
ambersurfer9 said:I just got diagnosed with a multicystic ovary on my right side—the left one looks perfectly normal, though. Does this actually have any impact on fertility????

If the left one’s working fine, you should be good—honestly. My mom actually had a cyst burst when she was 14, and it took out the whole ovary with it—she almost died from the bleeding... but hey, she still ended up having two kids later on. Obviously, everyone's body is different, but if your OB-GYN says the left side is normal, I don't see why you wouldn't get pregnant.

Michael James65 said:I've got my PayPal linked through a Visa Electron tied to my checking account. Not sure about the specifics regarding current accounts, but if Chase rejects you, opening a standard checking account should be pretty straightforward.🤷

Same here—my checking is tied to PayPal and it works fine if you're just buying stuff, but I actually need it for selling. I've already pulled in about 10 $0.00 this year from my jewelry hobby, and the IRS tracks checking accounts way closer than they do small-time checking stuff. So, for me, it’s huge that I can move money from PayPal straight to my Visa debit from my checking. 🙂

Casey Bennett said:If you’ve upgraded to the new Inspire card, you should be good to go. The old Maestro ones won't work anymore, though you can swap them out for a Visa at no extra cost.

Are you 100% sure about that? I keep seeing people on forums saying PayPal won't touch a standard checking account—only specific ones. Of course, when you ask at Chase, they just shrug their shoulders and give you some "it should work" nonsense. I'm not about to go through the hassle of opening an account if it's just gonna be a gamble...

I've never used birth control before, but given my skin issues, I'm thinking about starting.
Can I actually get a prescription from a dermatologist, or is a gynecologist my only option here?
What does the process look like?

Thanks so much for the help.🙂

So you're gonna hit up a dermatologist first? Smart move—only they can actually figure out why your skin is acting up. Honestly, they might not even suggest the pill as a fix, you never know. Don't just go grabbing stuff off the shelf—see the derm first, then if they do suggest hormones, you'll definitely need to get some full blood work done first.
Does birth control cause depression or mood swings? in Women's Health ·
Elizabeth Fowler46 said:Just bumping this thread—hoping to hear some fresh perspectives.
I'm going on my second month here in Belarus, and lately, I've just been super irritable, depressed, and totally unmotivated. External stuff definitely plays a part, obviously, but I can't help wondering if the pills are the culprit. Is there any chance this is just the adjustment period and it'll eventually pass?

Could be, could not. Honestly, you might just be burnt out from lacking certain vitamins or minerals—maybe get a full blood panel done to see if you're running low on anything.

As for me, after using Lyndinett 30 for a while now, I’ve noticed my libido has basically tanked. It’s actually making both me and my boyfriend pretty depressed, so I’m definitely looking for an alternative once I visit Ginn next month. Plus, I can't seem to lose even a single ounce, let alone a pound, and I'm blaming those pills big time... so, yeah.

It’s pathetic how the mods just sit there while these absolute trolls run wild 🙂
A s tobom, Leo—maybe we can chat once you actually learn how to read. Honestly—I started the pills because of PCOS—so unless you want to flash that medical degree proving you have the right to tell me I don't need them or that my ovaries need some other miracle drug—then yeah, never gonna happen.
Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
goldentinker79, look—I started on the Pill for medical reasons, specifically to manage ovarian cysts. Honestly, I can't go without them because the cysts just go wild—they grow and rupture the second I stop. I have zero intention of dying from pain, so thanks for the concern, though. And as for other birth control? There isn't any. What am I supposed to use—condoms? They kill the mood entirely; I’d rather just stay celibate. Pulling out? That’s about as effective a contraceptive method as Russian roulette is a Saturday night activity. Don't be that resident busybody coming in here to preach at people, please.
Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
Hey everyone—would love to hear if anyone else has dealt with weight gain from birth control.

I’ve been on Lyndinette 30 for about a year and a half now, after basically cycling through every pill under the sun... First it was Yasmin, which gave me horrific breakthrough bleeding, then some patch that made things even worse. After dealing with ovarian cysts, my doctor put me on Diane—that worked okay for a couple of years, but then I just ballooned and gained so much weight I actually felt depressed about it. Later, my OBGYN switched me to Logest, which was fine for a few months until I started spotting whenever I had three pills left in the pack, so I just stopped taking them altogether. Lyndinette 30 has been great so far, but...

For the last few months, I've been getting this light spotting about a week before I finish the pack. It's super minimal—not really worrying—but I’m convinced these pills are the reason for the bloating and the extra weight. I’m vegetarian, I don't smoke, I hit the gym occasionally, and I try to eat clean and balanced, but the scale just sits at 62 kg (about 136 lbs) and won't budge—not even a single pound since I stepped on it. I'm 163 cm (around 5'4"), and honestly, 62 kg feels way too heavy—even if everyone keeps telling me I look totally fine. I just don't feel like myself, and I know I won't feel better until I hit at least 55 kg (121 lbs).😢
Any advice? I know Lyndinette 30 is considered relatively "low dose"—what's a weaker option my doctor might prescribe? Or would it help if I took a 2-3 month break and then went back on them? Alternatively, should I skip the break and just go absolutely beast mode at the gym—like several hours every day plus morning runs—to see if that forces the weight off?

Thanks.
Dealing with hemorrhoids – any advice? in Health ·
What should I even do at this point? I'm 22 and I've been dealing with hemorrhoids since I was basically 15.--😢
I eat super clean—vegetarian, workout, zero bad habits—so there's nothing "wrong" with my lifestyle, yet I can't shake these damn things. It’s both external and internal, and they bleed about five days out of seven... it's been going on for years. Using some over-the-counter cream helps a bit, but honestly, there are still days where I just want to lie down and cry because the pain is so brutal. Clearly, I need surgery. :/
Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
I’m not here to give a recommendation—I'm here to give a warning about where NOT to go.

So, this is about Dr. Helena Šimurina’s office over in Jordanovac, NYC. Look, the woman is a top-tier doctor, but she hasn’t been there in over two years—probably on maternity leave or something—and they keep replacing her with a rotating door of total incompetents.

Last week, I swung by because of this brutal cough. Some kid who looks like he just graduated yesterday told me it sounded bad, but then insisted he couldn't hear anything in my lungs through his stethoscope. Without even ordering blood work or an X-ray, he just handed me some antibiotics and called it a day. I don't even have tonsils, so the only place that much phlegm could be coming from is my lungs, but nope—Mr. Know-it-all decided he knew better.

Fast forward to yesterday: I ended up in the ER because of the pain. The staff there looked at me like I was crazy when they heard that cough and realized the guy from last week hadn't even sent me for imaging. They couldn't hear anything through their stethoscopes either, but they immediately sent me over to the specialist at the Mayo Clinic after an X-ray—and sure enough, it was pneumonia. A pneumonia that could’ve been caught if certain people actually knew how to do their jobs instead of just rushing patients out the door in five minutes to clear their schedule. It's a massive DISGRACE. 😠
Starting a small business in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·
Hey everyone.
Hoping someone here actually knows what they're talking about...

I'm 35 and just passed my floral certification.
Since finding a job is basically impossible right now—and I know plenty of other women are stuck in the same boat—I’m looking at starting my own thing, like a little boutique flower shop.
The catch? I'm short about $3,000, which obviously I don't have lying around.
A loan seems like the move, but I don't own any property to use as collateral—no house, nothing.
From what I've heard, you can get a business loan once you've already got an LLC or something set up...
Anyone got advice? Are there actual SBA grants or small business incentives out there, or some other way to scrape together startup cash?

Thanks in advance.
