Sh...

Sure, but if they actually pull this off, nothing will stop them from eventually banning smoking in people's own houses too. I mentioned this before when they did that documentary—how some old lady complains about her neighbor smoking in his own apartment in the same building. She's terrified her cat is going to get cancer from smoke drifting through the vents at an Atomic size via the AC units.🙏

Regarding advertising, cigarette ads are banned by law here in the States. But TDR finds ways to market them indirectly. Honestly, I think those loopholes should be shut down by law too.

Look, I'm not from around here. I missed that last word in your question. My bad.

Are you kidding me? What you’re describing sounds more like heresy—believing in something a theist wouldn't touch. Atheists simply don't believe (mostly because nobody can give them a straight answer to "What is God?", so they can't even decide if they believe or not). Antitheists actually believe God doesn't exist (they apparently have a grasp on what theists actually mean by "God").

I didn't mean to say Atheist, but whatever, now you feel the need to debate it for four hours.
The word Atheist comes from the Greek *atheos*, where *a* means "without" and *theos* means "God." So, an Atheist is someone without a god. But hey, you had to show off, right? Now you're busy defining terms that have nothing to do with this topic. That was my mistake, I already admitted it. If you actually have something to say about the smoking ban, say it. Stop wasting time correcting my grammar and splitting hairs over definitions.

Justin Gray89 said:Give me one single bar where smoking isn't banned. Just one. Anywhere in America.
Are bars, pubs, cafes, and clubs strictly reserved for smokers now? Who exactly is being discriminated against here?
Beyond that smoking ban, we should probably start looking at the cigarette companies that still find clever ways to market their products. Probably through music clubs or something.🙂

Look at New York City, for instance. Smoking is banned in every single bar and disco.🙂

And what's wrong with cigarette ads? Every company has the right to market its product.

dustycanyon6 said:Atheists aren't actually out to get religion. Or faith. I think the word you’re looking for is "antitheist," not atheist. And honestly, I don't know a single one. For instance, I'm an atheist, but I still show up to church for weddings or baptisms if someone I know is involved.

Exactly. You were thinking about bears and wrote "Atheists."

That’s why we discuss our rights here, not at some dive bar. 😉

I don't get it... If you just want to talk, why even bother opening a forum account?

The real issue is that smoking is allowed pretty much everywhere, and non-smoker areas aren't physically separated, so people end up breathing in smoke regardless. Plus, where it *is* banned, most people just ignore the rules. Nobody calls them out on it either, because what's the point in complaining? It won't change anything.

Give me a break. Where is smoking allowed besides bars and on the street? In a Cinema? A department store? Grocery stores? Smoking is banned in basically every public indoor space. 🙂 😁

Those examples aren't funny. Sure, anyone can walk into a church, but Atheists don't bother showing up just because they're the minority—and they certainly don't go there specifically to protest religion. It’s the same deal with bars where most people smoke; you'll occasionally find someone who chooses that dive over Starbucks just to sit there and lecture everyone on their rights.

If you hate comparisons and analogies that much, I'll give it to you straight: If you walk into a place where everyone is smoking, you aren't welcome if you spend the whole night whining about your rights.
When we're in non-smoking areas, we don't smoke. Simple as that.
If someone ignores that kind of basic tolerance, I'm not with them. Same goes for a non-smoker in a place where smoking is allowed.
Anything else unclear??????

The way you pull random examples and half-baked ideas out of thin air just to justify yourselves isn't normal.

That's just your opinion. You think we're funny, but honestly? We just feel sorry for you.
I don't owe anyone an explanation. I like the smell of smoke. Period.
Your comments remind me of those overachieving kids back in middle school—the ones with perfectly combed hair who act like they own the place.

For Justin Gray89:
I don't have yellow teeth and I'm not coughing. I picked up the habit when I was 16, but I've been brushing properly since I was a kid.

Nick doesn't need to make things up to justify anything. My first point was simply that Caloric people are hypocrites when they complain about smoking, even in places where it's perfectly legal.
If I'm an Atheist, I'm not going to church to protest religion. But some non-smokers walk straight into a bar where everyone is smoking just so they can cough on the fumes and lecture everyone about their "rights."

The reason that single entity exists as a consequence is knowledge (ideas/information). If nothing knew about it, there would be no reason for it to cause itself as a consequence, nor any reason to exist at all..

It doesn't have to work like that... that one thing doesn't need self-awareness to exist or have a purpose. It has a reason to exist because whoever created it clearly had a purpose for it.
Water doesn't need to be self-aware to do what it does—obeying the basic laws of physics just like everything else in this universe.
Still, I can't wrap my head around energy being self-aware. Energy has always been here and always will be, but the idea that its own consciousness somehow triggered the Big Bang instead of it just happening by chance? Doesn't fly with me.
My take: I think, therefore I am; I am, therefore I think. Me = God. I believe it, but then again, I don't know why any of this started. The atoms making up my brain are just a tiny fraction of the massive "Me = God," so I’m just aware that I exist and that I am God. But I'll never truly know why, just like a cell in my pinky finger could never know.

Justin Gray89 said:It looks like some people on this forum just don't have the backbone to quit smoking. It’s easier for them to come up with ridiculous excuses to stay smokers.🙂

I have enough character to risk cancer for a smoke.
The ones with "weak character" are actually the ones avoiding the cigarettes.

Look at how good this cigarette looks on me, haha. Cancer will suit me even better than it suits you... you guys are too weak to handle cancer. And if we all make it thirty years, we're all going to get it anyway. At least I enjoyed the smoke while I waited for it, whereas you lot won't be able to say you got anything out of it.🙂

Melissa Gonzalez9 said:Stop talking nonsense. Every single one of your social circles has smokers in them. Just let them step outside the bar or the club when you head out... then we’ll see if you actually like that Law being in place.

Smokers generally care about non-smokers. They don't blow smoke while you're eating, they don't do it in your apartment or your car, and they don't blow it in your face. Yet, you people are so damn loud about this whole "protecting your health" thing—as if anyone could ever ruin your perfect wellness. You're doing a great job of looking out for yourselves.

But banning smoking in outdoor areas? Seriously? Do you honestly believe the smoke from one damn cigarette is going to reach your nostrils before it just dissipates into the air?!!

Hypocrisy is the only word for it.

🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 👍 👍 👍

What bugs me most is walking into a restaurant that has separate smoker and non-smoker sections. You're just starting to enjoy the smell of a nice cigarette when some jerk ruins it with their vegetarian food. Of course, the guy ends up lighting up just a few feet away in the designated non-smoking area, acting like someone else trying to enjoy a smoke in the smoking section is an insult to him.

So go ahead, tell me: "Then just go smoke at your own house."
Go eat at your own house if you can't handle the smell of a restaurant where the whole point is the mix of tobacco, alcohol, and meat.

analogwolf26 said:Like that person said, cocaine users only hurt themselves. Smokers hurt the people around them, and they don't have the right to do that.

Look, I never said cocaine users threaten me. I said the "geniuses" making these laws probably have more drugs in their bloodstreams than any nicotine addict ever could.
It’s just pure stupidity from the American population. Why weren't there laws against smokers back in the 1970s? They had actual problems to deal with then. They weren't just sitting on their asses trying to manufacture some imaginary, hyper-sensitive, fashion-model utopia.
And for the record, I don't hate smoking. I like the smell of tobacco in my hair. I don't feel like a second-class citizen when I step out of Starbucks to light up; I feel like I'm exercising the freedom offered by this modern diet world.
People say everyone loves the idea of opening separate bars for smokers and non-smokers. That sounds nice, but it’ll never happen. The people passing these laws don't go to bars, they don't drink, and they certainly don't eat meat. They don't care what's "convenient" for the youth because they never had real college days or the lifestyle that comes with it. We're talking about children of calorie-counting parents, sitting at the back of a classroom with thick glasses, pale skin where you can see every blue vein. Instead of playing football with the other kids and coming home hungry enough to eat a real steak and salad before having a smoke, they'll be "healthier" eating carrots prepared in some fancy French sauce made from weeds that taste like straw.

These are the people deciding the future for teenagers who will spend their entire lives stuck in forums and video games. And don't get me started—they'll probably ban video games next because they're supposedly a major driver of youth violence. Newsflash: during WWII, the Germans didn't have video games, and they still managed to kill the innocent world.
This type of parenting creates insecure kids who walk into school with an AK-47 and commit massacres because nobody wants to hang out with them.
I never want to quit smoking. It won't even cross my mind. I do what I like and act how I think I should, rather than trying to mimic those types at Starbucks. You know, the ones who go there because they're insecure, drinking coffee that's honestly disgusting and can't compete with a drink from a real bar run by bartenders with actual life experience. Not these kids covered in eighty-nine piercings, babbling about their vague visions of heaven and death, or reciting animal rights laws and ways to destroy the greenery on this pathetic planet.
You guys are free to embrace this new culture and pretend you're creating equality. But in twenty years, you'll realize you had more freedom waving your hand in a bar because the smoke bothered you than your kids will have when they're shoved into indoor enclosures for "sexual harassment" charges just because some rich kid's dad thinks a wink was an offense.

Hope my terrible grammar doesn't bother you while reading this (if you're even open-minded enough to read it). I don't care what anyone thinks of me, so I'm not bothering to fix it. 👋

nimblebear43 said:Clubs aren't built just for smokers; they're for everyone. They're public spaces. Just because you're dying doesn't mean you have to take me down with you. If you want to smoke, go find a place where it's actually legal.

Fine. It's legal in clubs, and that's exactly where I'll do it—without some girl who's had way too many cocktails grabbing at me.
I'm asking for your take: should we pass a law banning smoking in all public places?
The growing trend of smoking bans in Health ·
How exactly did I go too far? If someone’s complaining about noise in a nightclub because they happen to be dealing with a mental health issue and taking sedatives, do they really have the right to plug their ears just like someone else might wave smoke through the air? If you aren't mentally or physically up for it, why even show up to places like this? In clubs, smoking is perfectly legal (for now), just like dancing, shouting, and grinding. If most people in the venue are smoking, why is one person there coughing and waving their hands around because of it? This place was built for this vibe, and they’re actually the minority, not us smokers.
Look, when we smokers find ourselves in the minority—like on a plane or in certain public spaces—we hold back. But honestly, it’s getting to the point where even in venues designed for us, we’ve got individuals making a scene. If someone with HIV worked with me, would I demand a law to ban them because my health is at risk if they accidentally cut themselves and spill blood? Are we smokers going to start demanding laws to kick people out of public spaces just because they have the flu and are spreading viruses everywhere they cough? Is that how it works now?
The growing trend of smoking bans in Health ·
I’m sick of reading some magazine almost every single day claiming the "solution" isn't just banning smoking in public, but treating nicotine like it's somehow worse than heroin or other heavy narcotics—just pure American idiocy. I walk into a Club to grab a drink and have a smoke, and suddenly some woman starts coughing her head off and waving her hands around because the smoke "bothers" her. WELL, WHY DID YOU COME TO A BAR IF YOU CAN'T STAND SMOKE? If it bothers me when someone farts, should we pass a law banning farting in public?
In New York City, they’ve already banned smoking in every single bar and club, and everyone is acting all happy while they snort cocaine. The very people pushing these laws are snorting coke every two hours, yet they have nothing better to do than tell normal people—people without any history of violence or whatever—that we can't smoke or shit (pardon my French). They act like we're destroying the planet, or they waste millions filming MTV Real World episodes where people cry all day about the dangers of secondhand smoke or how their favorite cat got stuck in a tree and they need four fire trucks and two ambulances to help it down.
They don't smoke, sure, but they're sleeping with whoever they want, smoking weed, and snorting cocaine, then heading to church just so they don't feel guilty. Then, suddenly, they get a "brilliant" idea to do something positive, like sending a letter to the Governor about how many people in the US die from lung cancer every day.
And don't even get me started on planes. We get stuck on a flight for 15 hours chewing gum while they're in the restroom snorting lines or getting high talking about Jesus and how we should follow His path—all while we're just trying to enjoy one lousy cigarette that hasn't caused even 1% of the damage caused by the hard drugs these anti-nicotine crusaders brought to the streets.

I’m posting this here because you guys seem to value a healthy body and mind, yet you live in Europe where most people had their first love with a cigarette. I wanted to get your take: do you think it's inevitable that they'll ban cigarettes in public places soon? They already killed off restaurants that used to have smoking sections taking up maybe 15% of the floor space—which didn't bother us smokers at all—but they wiped those out too. What's your opinion on smoking bans in general, whether it's in public or inside your own four walls?
I watched this documentary where a woman complained because her upstairs neighbor was smoking in his own room, and apparently, a tiny bit of smoke could travel through the Air conditioning and threaten her precious cat, which she considers a violation of animal rights.
Honestly, people in America give animals more rights than human beings. I'm going back to Europe.....

Here’s a purely medical take on your question.
Yesterday, I was walking past a hospital and saw a nurse heading out the door. I stopped her and asked: "Hey Nurse, tell me straight—is homosexuality a disorder or not?"
She just said, "Yes."
The fact that she looked perfectly professional makes it a completely objective, clinical answer.
