Emily Torres2 said:Nice, early Polanski. Look, it just doesn't work for me. I don't think Polanski ever actually intended for this to be some terrifying, vampiric flick. It’s more like a parody, but not even the good kind. It's nowhere near the level of those early Goal movies, or that "Is there a pilot on this plane?" type of stuff. Honestly, it's just bad. It reminds me of those bottom-of-the-barrel, cringe-worthy spoofs like Darkness—you know, those "scary scary scary movie movie movie" disasters that just loop endlessly in your head. Just total trash.
I mean, look at him. He’s just in this weirdly frantic headspace where he’s basically turning every single frame into some hyper-detailed little parody. It's constant. From the first glance at the visuals—everything from that weirdly quiet little town to how the hero actually looks—to the way they poke fun at all those classic vampire tropes... you know, the whole ballroom scene thing and those ridiculous habits where they just crawl out of their graves like nothing happened. It’s basically a parody of all that old-school stuff.
Then you've got this whole bit parodying latent homosexuality—god, is that everyone's favorite topic on these forums lately? Like, we can't talk about anything else. Then there’s the part where young Polanski gets a thing for some rookie vampire kid; it's all just satire, I guess. It even mocks how the Bible is supposedly the ultimate fix, like if you just shove it down his throat, he'll get stuck mid-bite. Pure ridiculousness.
It’s no coincidence that Professor Ambrosius is a Fearless Killer. I mean, the guy is actually brave—unlike Polanski, who probably wouldn't even dare look them in the eye. He’s basically the living embodiment of Einstein.
There are just hundreds of these tiny, brilliant little details waiting to be found if you actually bother to look. And that final message at the end of the movie... basically saying evil can't be stopped? Real smooth. Especially while they're all charging blindly into the night, and you've got Sharon getting ready to lose her innocence with Polanski in some soap factory? Give me a break.
Maybe he’s just got some deep-seated issues with younger girls—you know, that whole fixation on fresh meat. Maybe from Tessa, or maybe from Sharon.
I'm with you on that. Honestly, that movie creeps me out way more than most of the "horror" garbage they pump out these days.😢
Super cheap, all-natural, basically free, but honestly takes some work... My secret weapon for cellulite is this: KEEPING A POSITIVE MINDSET. Seriously, try paying attention to when your cellulite flares up versus when it actually seems to chill out. I’m telling you, I noticed for myself that whenever I was feeling miserable, pissed off, or just drowning in bitter thoughts, my skin looked way worse. But once I started actually trying to stay positive, I noticed it visibly smoothing out... I know, sounds like some hippie nonsense, but it's real. Just give it a shot. At the end of the day, most things that mess with our bodies start in our heads anyway. We’re mostly responsible for ourselves. Sure, genetics play a part—that's just how it is—but we hold way more of the blame than we care to admit.
So, I jumped on Dr. Atkins' initial diet plan. It goes like this: breakfast—eggs and bacon, eat as much as you want. Lunch: tuna—all you want. Dinner: roasted chicken with a bowl of salad, plus vitamins and tons of water. You can work out if you feel like it. If you want more meat during those meals, go for it, just stick to the meat. I’m almost embarrassed to admit I only lasted five days, BUT—and this is a massive BUT—I actually feel better because I dropped 4 pounds in just those five days! I was stepping on the scale every single day, and man, his book doesn't lie; the results are right there. I was drinking coffee with sugar every day too, which probably slowed things down, but even then, it was a huge shift. I regret quitting, but honestly, life just happened. I'm taking a day or two off to breathe, and then I'm getting back on the horse. I know people have been tearing him apart, and because of all that negativity, I didn't even want to touch his books. But at this point, I’m just tired of failing. I’ve tried everything—even that L-carnitine from Twinlab, but nothing happened. Tried that Top Slim tea; it tastes good enough to sip, but that's about it. Tried Metabolan capsules... Honestly, the best thing for me was dried figs plus prunes and some senna tea (just grind it up and take a spoonful before bed)—it really gets things moving. Feeling pretty desperate, I finally picked up his book and realized he’s basically the godfather of the carnivore diet, which I actually did once after my pregnancy and lost a decent amount of weight. I’m about 5'8" and hit 165 pounds. I've been throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks, and now I'm starting to believe this diet actually works. Giving up coffee was brutal (you aren't even allowed decaf until week two), and don't get me started on peanuts—I love them—or fruit. But for someone like me who struggles to drop weight, it's solid. I didn't feel crappy, but like someone once said, we're all just emotional eaters, and with some heavy stuff going on at my job lately, I just buckled. Just read the book first; he says don't start anything without checking with your doctor. My hang-ups are fading now that I've seen how he approaches things, and the meal plans he offers later on seem doable. Look, I'm not preaching here. Everyone’s different, and this is just my experience. I'm not telling you to go out and start this diet tomorrow. I'm just saying it worked for me and I'm happy with it. People can say losing weight fast is bad all they want, but I feel way better without the extra weight than I do with it.
Maybe you've still got a stray stitch caught somewhere? Sounds stupid, I know, but weird stuff happens.😲 Don't just sit there waiting around—get your ass over to him right now. He’ll handle the surgery or whatever else needs fixing if he has to. 😠
But look, if you aren't dealing with anything majorly out of whack (like, stuff in your behavior that you know for a fact isn't normal), just talking to a soulmate should do the trick. Though, man, finding one of those is basically impossible, right? [/B]
It’s a depressing reality.
Melissa Kim45 made a solid point. Seriously, go read what she wrote, take a second to process it, and maybe—if you're feeling up to it—pick up a couple of books. "The Power of Healing" and "When Will I Finally Be Happy?!" Those books... they kind of hit hard, but they help you realize that WE are the ones calling the shots when it comes to our own health and everything else going on around us. Whatever mess you've found yourself in, you're the one who triggered it, which means you're the one who can fix it too. Trust me, it works that way. Personally, I'm still pretty skeptical about the "experts" who are supposed to help us, especially with how expensive everything is and the general state of things in this country lately. You've got this.👍
Sophia Brooks30 said:There are endless diet books out there, and honestly, every single one claims to have the magic secret... For me, the "Healthy food combining" approach just clicked because it actually fits my life. It’s all about keeping proteins separate from carbs—though we're talking concentrated stuff like meat, fish, eggs, and cheese—and pairing those with veggies. Acidic fruits go with protein, while sweet ones pair with starches. Personally, I usually just eat fruit on its own or on an empty stomach since that feels better for my gut. Or, look, sometimes I'll just grab some cheese and bread because I love it and it doesn't wreck me. At the end of the day, I think everyone needs to figure out their own rhythm and find the system that works for them; we aren't robots, and what works for one person won't work for everyone. One thing I definitely agree with, and I know pretty much everyone else does too, is cutting out the processed junk filled with additives. Ditch the white sugar, refined flour, and those cheap, nasty oils. Just stick to plenty of fruits and veggies.
I was actually wondering if anyone else here used that specific book. Your experience sounds solid. I dig that.
This might sound totally ridiculous, but honestly, give it a shot. You can find stuff like this at most drugstores, but I usually just DIY it myself. Here’s the deal: grab some cloth—something a bit sturdier, maybe like a heavy cotton sheet rather than a terrycloth towel. Melt some yellow beeswax in a small pot (you can pick it up at a local farmers market or even a pharmacy). Soak the cloth in that wax on both sides, using a fork to really work it in. Then, take a stick or a wooden spoon and wrap the cloth around it to make a little cone shape—just make sure the tip is thin enough to fit into your ear. Ask your mom or someone you trust to help you out by placing it in your ear while you lie down. Pro tip: surround your ear with towels because, trust me, bits of burnt wax *will* fly everywhere. Light the top of the cone and let it burn. Keep a plate handy to catch any debris. It takes about 20 minutes or so to burn through, obviously, so just blow it out if the flame gets too close to your head. Once you unroll what's left, you'll be shocked at how much gunk and resin you pulled out of your ear. Might actually help. My mom used to do this to me for ear infections back in the day. Clears everything out and you'll hear way better, I swear. It's one of those old-school home remedies.
Honestly, people on this forum barely skim what anyone else writes. It’s like they either cherry-pick the posts they actually care about or just skip everything else entirely. It doesn't surprise me anymore when someone, like Fee, says they have zero clue what others are even talking about or thinking... (I mean, Kikin already pointed out in that private thread how forgetful everyone is). I’ve already mentioned this before, but hey, I'd love to hear what parts you actually enjoyed reading. There's that Zone Diet by Dr. Grbac—or something like that—that you can grab at an Algorithm store along with the book by Dr. Sears. Personally, I'm kind of obsessed with recipes that use gelatin, and it feels like every single one calls for it. Does anybody know a good substitute?
They definitely have them, otherwise everything would've faded into nothingness a long time ago. Hopefully, the movie actually breathes some life back into it. Some of the changes they made feel totally pointless to me—I really wasn't a fan of how they played up Faramir's bad side, either. But hey, at the end of the day, it's all about the money. Despite all the flaws and plenty of upsides, I'm still just glad the movie exists.
analogwolf2, look, I get it—movies can definitely unearth some historical nuggets, but there's no way in hell I’m taking everything they say at face value. Etto, take Braveheart, for instance. It's just crawling with inaccuracies. Or even that huge hit starring Russell that he got an Oscar nod for (can't even remember the title right now)—they basically flipped the script on the actual facts and left half the story on the cutting room floor. And people actually call that a biopic? They just cook up whatever data they want and wrap it in shiny cellophane to make it look legit. That’s why most of us just tuned out and went for the laughs, because you can pretty much pull whatever nonsense you want out of a movie screen. Hasta la vista, baby!
I don't know the first thing about those capsules, but if we're drifting off topic for a second, what do you guys think about healthy food combining? Maybe that’s actually the smarter play—just being mindful of how we eat, mixing things up, and keeping everything as natural as possible? It’s basically that method by Dr. Hay. There’s even a book by Jackie Habgood called "Healthy Food Combining." It isn't quite like Zone, but it's heading in a similar direction.
Their take is spot on. They aren't wrong—the world only gives a damn about winners. If you’re sitting at the top, you’re worth something... Everyone else is just sucking up and drooling over them. Who actually had their back before they hit the road? Hardly anyone. Most people just wait until someone succeeds so they can jump on the bandwagon, and these little songs are no different.
granitebadger25, you mentioned you were out at the beach—do you drink tap water there, or maybe some well water or sparkling stuff? I’m wondering if that might be what's causing the stomach issues. We used to swear by Britney, but we finally gave up on it once the kids started daycare. They just serve them unfiltered water there, and honestly, half the parents were breathing down my neck telling me I was being ridiculous. Like, why bother filtering everything at home if they're just going to gulp down raw water everywhere else? So, I just threw in the towel. I can't tell if I made the right call. Personally, I don't drink a ton of fluids, and I haven't noticed any issues with my blood pressure or... well, my bathroom habits. Anyway, let me know what you guys think—is it just me, or is everyone else ditching their Britney filters too?
Props to Scott Hayes14! It’s a bummer those changes made it into the movie, but hey, at the end of the day, Hollywood follows the money. One of the bigger pivots they made was beefing up Arwen's role. In the book, she isn't really part of the main trek with Frodo and the gang—which actually makes sense if you think about it. Why would a King just let his daughter wander off into a death trap? But then again, if we actually stuck to the book's portrayal of female characters, we wouldn't have much to watch. The guys are out there risking their lives to save the world while the women are basically just waiting at home to handle the housework and keep things tidy.😁 Honestly, I'm a bit worried about how they'll pull off the final battle since they spent half the runtime on that one cliffside scene. If you haven't read the book, you're in for a massive shock once the adventure really kicks off. It’s not like Potter, where the author practically locked everything down in the contract to prevent changes. With that series, you read the book and it feels like you're watching the movie right in front of you. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of constant alterations, but after all the tweaks we've seen so far, I guess I wouldn't even blink if they suddenly decided Aragorn was immortal and flew off to paradise with his elf queen.😁 I always felt a little sad that Tolkien didn't let Aragorn live forever, or at least let him ride off into the sunset with Arwen...
Hey! So, a friend of mine actually went through it, and her take was basically this—and I’m quoting here: "It was honestly one of the best investments I’ve ever made in my life. Just don't expect anyone to hold your hand; he’s pretty blunt, can be kind of rude, and will definitely call you out if you gain even a single pound. But you have to follow his advice to the letter, and man, does it work." Anyway, that’s just how it went for her. I’m curious if any other guys or girls here have actually dealt with this firsthand.
Look, I’ve learned one thing: after a heavy night of passion, when my partner heads to the bathroom first thing in the morning, I make sure to wrap myself in a massive sheet. I’m talking total coverage—making sure not a single inch of skin is visible. I'm not trying to give anyone a show before my coffee, you know? I also learned that if I ever find myself in some high-stakes car chase, I better be driving toward the middle of nowhere. You have to be careful not to accidentally steer right into a police station. It would be pretty damn stupid to pull up to a precinct while some psycho killer is hot on my tail, wouldn't it? 😁 lonescout2 already mentioned this, but let's be real for everyone watching: everyone in the movies is gorgeous, fit, brilliant, and perfectly healthy. Just look at any soap opera and you'll see.
Anyone messed around with those circulation supplements? They’ve got Vitamin C tossed in there too. Give them a shot for a month, then just chill with it once winter passes and things warm up. What kind of shoes are you guys wearing? I really hope you're sticking to natural materials—wearing synthetic stuff just makes you freeze even harder. Maybe Burgess has something decent for massaging your legs. I gotta head home and dig through my old recipe files for ways to boost circulation, then I'll let you know what I find. massaza is definitely a way to go. I know you can't exactly pull that off at the office, but doing it at home might actually start helping long-term if you stay consistent.
1. Rub your palms together to get them warm. 2. Give your feet a deep massage, both the top and the bottom. 3. Use your knuckles to firmly press the area just below your toes, then move to the soles with some quick, light taps.
Personally, I think the Burgess foot cream is pretty solid.
