Sorry, but you guys are actually hilarious to me 🤣

It’s just so 👋

I mean, if you've got a decent plasma TV at home, there’s really no need... 😁 😁

Hey northerncrane4,

I think you’re definitely on the right track here, but if I could just jump in with a tiny little correction, that would be great. I honestly don't think the core issue is really about civilization itself, but more about gender dynamics. I mean, if you look at the indirect evidence, Gerald Barrett25 kind of proves my point, so I guess I should actually thank him for that this time around. 👍

Hey Chloe Morris12, regarding that question you asked, the answer is no. And hey, no worries at all! 😎

Man, I’m out here genuinely trying to teach you something useful, and you just hit me back with some comment about being a sadist? I guess that's just how kids are these days, huh?🙄

Tsk tsk, honestly, don't be so bitter just because you were way too young to actually remember any of this... but hey, don't worry, in maybe ten years there'll be a whole new crop of wannabe indie kids that you can lecture about the "good old days" based on your massive wealth of experience.

In the meantime, I guess you should probably watch what you say, since this is a public forum and being rude like that just makes you look bad to everyone watching. 👋

Well, if you think it's uninteresting, I guess you're just not really a fan of the genre.
But even if it is loud and cliché... what's actually wrong with that? I mean, who cares? 😁 🙂

Is there any actual info on that?

Are we seriously trying to play dumb here? I mean, you're really gonna sit there and tell me it's just some wild coincidence that your username is the exact same as that local band playing over at KEXP? Heh. 😁

I mean, you’re basically just some wannabe John Travolta in a white suit, probably working at a local Home Depot or something, right?,,,,

Man!

Honestly, because of that insult, I think I'm actually gonna show up late to the concert this Friday, just so I can totally skip out on the opening act! 👋

Dana Anderson4 said:Honestly, I find it pretty hilarious when someone on this thread tries to pull that whole "I just want to avoid all the politics" card... like, seriously?

Dana Anderson4 said:I mean, at the end of the day, I’ve always just been the type of person who can separate the art from the artist, you know? I guess I just look at what someone actually created rather than getting all hung up on their personal life or whatever drama they're dealing with.

So, what now?!? Are we seriously going to turn this into some big political debate, or are we actually going to focus on the art and the person behind it? Come on, please, let's not go there. 🙄

There's just way too much emotion tangled up in this whole situation, and I guess it’s only natural that things end up feeling so painful.

I mean, if Melissa Gonzalez21 wasn't using a female handle, she’d probably be getting dragged into all this political nonsense, and her posts would honestly just get nuked because, from what I understand, that’s pretty much how things work in the music scene here—which, if you ask me, is totally the right way to go about it.

I mean, honestly, this whole thing just feels like it has absolutely nothing to do with anything, you know? I guess I'm just saying that it feels totally disconnected from the actual point we were even making. 👎

Man, you just can't avoid all this political drama surrounding rock bands. 👎

Elvis Presley basically kicked off the whole New primitives era, and honestly, once he was done, nobody could ever really capture that same New vibe again.

Reagan said:Honestly, the movie is just so incredibly elegant, you know? Like, from a technical standpoint, everything is executed so perfectly, and the acting is absolutely top-tier. But what really sticks with me, I guess, is how they handled the chemistry between the three leads—it’s this super subtle, beautifully layered interaction that just feels so real and well-developed.

😕 I mean, I totally agree with you there. Honestly, if you actually went back and changed your mind just because I was being critical, that really means a lot to me, I guess. 🙂

Look, you were critiquing that movie based on actual analytical stuff—you know, using logic and specific criteria—so I was just trying to break it down the exact same way. I really tried my best not to lean on how the movie made me feel, even though I noticed you kind of mix things up yourself, like sometimes you're sticking to the rules of film theory and other times you're just going off on pure vibes. My point wasn't some personal jab at you or anything, I was honestly just picking apart your arguments. There’s really no need to start bringing up "moderators" or those little cliques that constantly make a scene on this forum, and there's definitely no reason to act like you're being attacked or targeted. At the end of the day, you're just another user here like I am, and if you're up for it, you should just tear my arguments to shreds instead of making it about all that other stuff.

It feels like we’re just seeing all those tired old national clichés being played out through this whole regional lens, I guess. It's kind of wild how they keep recycling the same old tropes, maybe because it's easier than actually doing something fresh.

I mean, I honestly have zero clue about this stuff, like, really. I don't even know what qualifies as an American national stereotype, let alone how someone would even go about defining Russian ones. That whole level of deep, analytical interpretation is just totally beyond me, I guess.

Did I not share my actual take on the movie? I mean, I feel like you can pretty easily piece together what a critic thinks just by reading through their reviews anyway. Plus, I really didn't want to just sit here echoing everything everyone else was saying—there were plenty of people in the thread making points that I’d totally sign off on, so why bother repeating them? And honestly, there’s just no point in trying to win over someone who already decided they hated the film; I’d much rather spend my time geeking out and sharing the hype with the people who actually loved it instead of wasting my breath on all the haters. 🙂

Using a scalpel—you know, that razor-sharp edge in an argument—really requires you to be precise and super careful about how much you're cutting. If you aren't being measured, I guess you could easily end up leaving a massive mess behind, like accidentally leaving a clump of thread stuck inside a patient’s abdomen or something, kind of like in this next example.

Reagan said:Man, just by grouping women, Black people, and gay folks all together in a single sentence like that, Shipko, you basically just handed me the win on one of my main points.

Shipko said:I mean, I guess you could say this movie doesn't really go out of its way to talk about women, or Black people, or gay people, or even Americans or Catholics, if that makes sense?

I guess I'll just leave it up to you guys to decide what the poet was actually trying to get at here.

ironcrane7 said:Sometimes I honestly find myself wondering if there’s something going on up there, like maybe I have some kind of neurological thing or even just a mild case of autism, or if I’m just, I don't know, not exactly the brightest bulb in the box?

I wouldn't say that last part was quite right, I guess... maybe you should probably head to the doctor for a checkup first just to be safe.

To get back to what we were actually talking about, I don't know, I just didn't see all that heavy religious stuff in the movie at all. It didn't really strike me as being like that, I guess. I mean, I guess it just finally clicked, you know? Like, it actually makes sense now. I mean, I honestly didn't even catch all those movie quotes and little hints that some people just couldn't seem to keep out of their line of sight, I guess.

I mean, honestly, I didn't catch any religious themes or heavy-handed quotes either, but I guess that’s just me. Personally, I don't think you even need that kind of stuff for a movie to be actually good, you know?

I guess I should probably mention what I actually managed to pick up with my super boring, overly analytical brain...

So, some people are out here calling that just some "stylistically forced photography," but honestly? I think it’s one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in a movie. I don't know, maybe it's just my own weird professional bias acting up or something. And look, just because you see these bleak, hopeless images from, like, 1994 or even back in the mid-60s doesn't necessarily mean the director wasn't being original. It might just mean—and this is just my take—that the world hasn't actually moved an inch in the last ten or forty years. I guess where one person sees a lack of imagination or an artist getting stuck in their ways, someone else might see total, raw honesty.
Maybe we're looking at some kind of glitch again? I don't know, I guess it could just be another weird distortion or something like that.

I mean, what does Radeta even have to do with this? I guess if you’re going to try and dodge movie criticism by throwing out random references to stuff that isn't even directly related to the film, then you really ought to be consistent about it, you know? Otherwise, you're just asking to be called out for being biased.

Look, just because a movie is packed with action doesn't mean it's actually any good, you know? I really feel like high-octane stunts shouldn't be some kind of prerequisite for a solid story. I guess what I'm trying to get at is...
I mean, honestly, it felt like most of the action in that movie was just people getting in and out of cars. Like, seriously, it was just endless scenes of slamming doors in every possible way you can imagine... I guess that was supposed to be the "drama" or something?
So, why don't you just head straight out to Hollywood and get yourself an action role?

And then there's this whole thing about "deep dialogues." I guess you're talking about the sheer volume of it all, right? Like, just how much analytical, realistic thinking you can cram into one sitting. Honestly, I bet if your father—who I assume you haven't even seen in like ten years—actually came to visit you these days, you two would probably talk so much that you wouldn't stop until you both literally collapsed from exhaustion. Basically, what I'm trying to say is, I don't think you have any clue what you're actually talking about.

I mean, I guess it just feels like there’s this total, complete marginalization of female characters happening lately, you know? Like, they’re just pushed so far to the sidelines that they barely even exist in the narrative, which is honestly kind of frustrating if you think about it.
I mean, I guess if you look at like ninety-five percent of the female characters in movies from all over the Mediterranean or Eastern Europe—you know, those gritty indie flicks or big sweeping dramas—it feels like they’re almost always written the exact same way, which is honestly kind of exhausting to watch.

I feel like I honestly learned a ton today, you know? Like, if you really sit down and think about what makes a movie actually work, it seems like you need a solid grasp on all those little pop culture cross-references, some intense cinematic action, and then making sure there’s a really even balance of women in the cast. I guess that's just how it works, maybe.

It’s just so incredibly gatekeeping and regulatory, like, it’s basically a de facto restriction on everything. Honestly, God forbid you ever find yourself sitting on some committee that gets to decide what someone else's art is actually worth.

I mean, what does this movie actually say to me, just as a woman?

Since you’re actually asking, I feel like it’s only fair that I finally give you a straight answer.
When you just go ahead and dump a whole bucket of prejudices, intellectual snobbery, and pure arrogance like that—basically just tossing a bunch of tired clichés at a masterpiece because you’re too lazy or incapable of actually grasping it—it honestly tells me one thing about you:

I mean, at the end of the day, it just feels kind of one-dimensional and super shallow.

It’s not supposed to be written like that, I guess... I just had a different autocorrect setting on my old phone so I kind of mashed it together... [worms]nevermind[/worms]

Anyway, let me actually answer the question so I don't look like an idiot...😂

The answer is: FEAR. It's pretty much just that, especially when you're just some guy working a trade, you know?😁
