a) Yeah. 😉😁
b) Nah, if I did, there wouldn't be a thread here, just another "why" post. 😁
c) Sadly, no...
d) Not on this laptop... the one that does is right next to me, but it's dead. 😁

Don't waste your breath... just my two cents... 🙂
Surprised you even reacted...
🙏 👋
Ah... bored, what can I say? 🙂
Five out of five. 😘
Too sentimental. All that negativity just burns through your brain cells over nothing... I was joking, for heaven's sake... what kind of government conspiracy are you dreaming up? I won't tell you to get a life because that's such a cheap shot, but you're really pushing me there 🙂
I bet you're one of those people who thinks the admins are reading your DMs 😁
Don't stress about Christmas 🙂
Neither before Christmas nor after...
Yesterday, a friend and I were just venting about how much of a failure we are. She’s struggling because she can only find guys who are total bottom-of-the-barrel losers, while I’ve been moping around wanting someone just as mediocre...but then I realized we aren't failures at all. It’s all just silly and trivial...
Nothing in this world is ever going to be perfect. Most people here vent because they're single, but I have a best friend who's married, and honestly, I see more loneliness in her eyes than I've ever felt myself.
We don't need some quick fix for the New Year. Why waste energy on "what ifs"? Especially now, when the air is crisp and cold, everything is decorated, and emotions feel heavier... there's a certain beauty in sadness when it reminds you that you're actually capable of feeling things. And it's easy enough to turn it into happiness if you actually try..
I hope everyone gets some wonderful gifts... whether they're things you can hold or just moments.
As for the people who were jerks and didn't deserve anything? I hope they finally get their act together and find peace, wherever they end up.
And to everyone, including myself, I hope we all learn our lessons in the coming year 😉 😁
ps. Walter, I know it's an off day, but I'm dropping a happy thread anyway... and I promise, no more sad posts. In 2004, I plan to be the resident forum optimist....aha 😁!
I think I’m being pretty good to everyone 😁
Right now, I'm testing out this little psychological trick on her to get her ready for entrance exams... though it requires quite a bit of sacrifice on my part...
And she's just so sweet—well, she'll be 18 soon. My mom told me she bought her a quartz bracelet for Christmas. She lives off her meager allowance, while I’m out here living on an American Express card my dad pays for, plus some of my own income. I have to make up for it by spoiling her a little more. 😁
Anyone know when this might actually hit the shelves here? Maybe by some miracle around August 18th? I'm just wondering before I go ahead and grab tickets for her...
Kate Winslet is on another level because she studied Russian and French literature😁
I'm a huge fan😁
My sister can't wait to see this movie too... and she actually has decent taste😁
Anyone can bounce back from trauma. For some reason, though, people seem obsessed with romanticizing heartache, wallowing in it, and feeding off the misery.
There’s this weird idea that feeling emotionally numb after a breakup is somehow noble or profound. Like if you stay broken, the love somehow lasts forever.
But all those people are really just hurting themselves and getting nowhere.
It feels like a defense mechanism. A way to avoid moving forward because they're terrified of feeling that pain again.
Heartbreak hurts. It's brutal. But you don't die from a broken heart. You just have to keep moving with a little optimism. Pessimism is what actually kills you. 😁
You reminded me of something 😁
Not too long ago, I decided to move past a bad experience by trying some intense exercise on one of those big stability balls—they usually help me relax. But I lost my focus, swung way too hard, and ended up rolling right across the room with the ball. I took out this massive floor stand holding a huge glass jar, which missed my head by mere inches! 😱
Honestly, that brush with death was actually kind of a wake-up call. It made me realize life is far too short to waste whining over minor setbacks.
It also taught me a lesson: don't put heavy objects on shaky stands at that height.
I know how ridiculous this sounds, but seriously... if that jar had landed differently, it probably would have been the most bizarre accident—or serious injury—in the last decade.
Anyone seen this?
http://www.att.com/lifestyle/health/wellness/heartbreak-recovery.htmlDidn't feel like reading the whole thing. It says psychologists weighed in, though. If they say it, it must be true, right? Since they're clearly the experts and I'm just here along for the ride. 😁
The gist... don't be sad. You can get through it. You won't actually die from a broken heart. 🙂
Plenty of us around as living proof. 😁
Arthur Martinez7...let's not confuse apples with oranges here. I'm just as fed up as you are with those fake psychologists raking in millions in the States by peddling nonsense to housewives on the Oprah show.
But psychologists actually deal with all the issues mentioned. What exactly do you think all those mental health clinics popping up all over the US are for?
Clinical depression—the only thing you've actually conceded to professionals—eventually gets treated by psychiatrists, since they're the only ones authorized to prescribe medication.
Psychologists at universities worldwide conduct actual research into all these areas; things like positive thinking and shyness aren't just inventions from self-help authors.
There's plenty to debate in psychology. Maybe not enough for a dedicated forum, but there's certainly material.
I'm in. Count me in. This is right up my alley.
I actually liked Lukas Nol’s Sky Satellite. Maybe it’s because it felt like one of those rare instances where an American film wasn't just a non-stop loop of cheap shock value—you know, all that constant screaming, violence, and gratuitous filth. I'm totally with that sentiment.
I've noticed this same trend creeping into modern American literature lately, too. It’s almost like a book isn't considered "real" art unless there's at least one revolting scene involving sex or violence to spice things up.
At sixteen, I built this little website filled with love poems. I slapped an ad on it for one of those old-school dating sites that paid $2 for every free sign-up through their link... then I promoted the site on some Russian forums and ended up making $800. 😁 😁
A few people have actually told me I’m destined to be wealthy. Is it a talent? Maybe. 😁
Nowadays, the competition in that industry is just too cutthroat to pull off a stunt like that again. But I still have most of that cash sitting in my savings account—not to mention how much value I've lost to inflation... it just reminds me of being young and naive. 😁
Afterward, I spent my time tutoring English to hopeless kids. Now I'm in college, receiving a government grant because of a few bright moments in my past. I'm constantly looking for work, but nothing interesting ever seems to come along.
