Alright, folks...

Cut the fluff, stop dancing around the issue, and just give me your honest take!

ARE YOU IN FAVOR OF AN ADDITIONAL SUB-FORUM FOR PSYCHOLOGY?

Honestly, you don't even need to bother leaving a comment, because I think anyone with half a brain can see the obvious value in having a dedicated space for psychology on a site like this..

😁 🙂

And I wonder, could we perhaps dive into the realm of psychopathology?

Since psychology is so close to my own field, I’d naturally be in favor of this... but wouldn't it make more sense if the need for a dedicated subforum was actually driven by the volume of active discussions already happening? Maybe I'm missing something since I don't browse every single corner of this site, but I haven't really noticed a steady or widespread interest in psychological topics lately...

Here we are all at once 😁

Sam Gonzalez67 said:But what about psychopathology?

You see, that’s actually quite close to my own field, maybe even closer...
And just imagine how much material we could pull from that area right here... 😉

................................And you know she's completely unhinged
But honestly, that's exactly why you want to be in the room

👍
I'm all for this initiative!

In my opinion, we definitely need this.
Mainly because people here look down on psychology like it's some joke,
but regardless, everyone needs to understand how it works...

Emotional struggles in the US basically come bundled with just existing in this country, so being able to actually debate the human mind and behavior is long overdue.

~ ~ ~

Flowing from each core belief is a blueprint for how to live your life, how to avoid pain and catastrophe. For example, if you believe that you're a failure, your rules might include the following: Never try anything hard, Never ask questions... If you believe that you are unworthy, rules for living might include the following: Never ask for anything, Always work extra hard, Never say no to anything, Always strive to be perfect, Never admit a fault or mistake.
All of your rules are supported by a belief that something awful will happen if you break the rules. These catastrophic predictions make it very frightening to challenge your rules. These predictions grew logically during times of dependency and danger. They need to be tested for their validity...

You're wrong. Honestly, I've wanted to start a thread like that so many times, but I have nowhere to put it. If I post it in General, it just gets buried and I forget all about it. If I put it under Philosophy, it doesn't fit there at all. It should go under Health, but what the fuck...

Anyway, if it weren't for LJES, I bet people would be talking way less about Sex on here. Something along those lines...

Personally, I don't think we really need to launch a dedicated sub-forum like that—mostly because there are so few people here actually qualified to moderate something of this caliber. If we did, I can see it quickly turning into a "just ask Lastan" type of situation.😁

I don't know, though—I'll leave it up to you guys to decide!😉

If we did that, the whole section would just turn into some "Ask Lastan" help desk.😁.

I don't know, you guys be the judge!😉

Man, you are completely missing the mark here.😁 😉

BUT

if we follow that logic, then based on what adriatic- suggested, we might as well just rename the entire site to something slightly more accurate...

Starting a forum like this with this kind of "human material" posting? Man, that would be a total disaster. A complete train wreck from day one.
Just a bunch of half-witted morons trying to mentally harass people who are already struggling with their own issues by dropping these totally nonsensical comments and "advice." It’s exactly what the person who started this Topic about that unfortunate mess was doing over on one of those philosophy subforums.

Honestly, doing that would be more than just counterproductive—it’d be straight-up "deadly" for anyone actually trying to get some real advice on those forums. I mean, come on. You can't just wing this stuff. Without actual pros—like, real psychologists who know what they're talking about—it's impossible. It's a total disaster waiting to happen.
Man, I don't even know if there are enough of them on this forum to even make a call. Honestly? Hard to say. It's tough to gauge the actual scale when you're just staring at the screen like this.

Look, I’m speaking from experience here. I’ve spent enough time lurking on those high-level US psychology forums—the ones that actually try to stick to real Science—and let me tell you, they’re constantly struggling. It’s a losing battle. They can barely maintain any shred of quality because they’re getting absolutely hammered by an endless wave of these meticulous, annoying-as-hell spammers.
So, it's a hard NO. Period. Case closed.
And you’ve got the proof right here on this forum, too—specifically that whole mess regarding the topic about that unfortunate "Soraya" thing, or whatever they were calling it.

Nah.
The folks who actually want to talk about psychology as a legitimate Science usually have the actual Science to back them up—that’s the same old song and dance whenever someone asks for a dedicated subforum for it.
But the ones who just want to play doctor, diagnosing everyone's personality disorders and handing out unsolicited dating advice? They’ve got nothing but pure loneliness... though honestly, you can find that brand of nonsense drifting through pretty much any other subforum too.

You’d just have a bunch of semi-literate idiots trying to psychologically bully vulnerable people with their nonsensical comments and terrible advice—honestly, it's exactly what the person who started this topic was doing over in the philosophy sub-forum.

It wouldn't just be counterproductive; it could actually be dangerous for anyone looking for genuine support. You simply can't do that without actual professionals in psychology.
As for whether we even have enough experts on this forum to make it work? I honestly couldn't say.

I'm speaking from experience here—I've seen how those German science-based psychology forums struggle to maintain any kind of standards because they get swarmed by relentless spammers.
So, my answer is a hard NO!
And if you want proof, just look at the topic about that unfortunate "Soraya" situation right here on this site.
M.

Maybe it wouldn't be "dangerous" 😁 for the people seeking help, but it's still unnecessary.
We don't have the qualified pros here to run a sub-forum like that (well, maybe Tufir and a few others). It would just turn into pure spam, much like how the philosophy section is slowly turning into a mess.

I mean, just imagine the absolute mob of maniacs swooping in with their half-baked, "edgy" jokes, pretending to know anything about psychology while just messing with the people who actually do. If you're dealing with psychological issues, go see a professional!😉

I mean, if that place actually ends up opening, stormywolf2 would basically have to be the moderator!😉 I honestly don't know how the spammers would even survive at that point, haha.😁

Alright, listen up.

Look, let's get one thing straight—I'm not dumping this under "Miscellaneous," because honestly, that section is basically the basement of this site. If it were at the top and actually had some decent traffic, I’d put it there.

Instead, I'm dropping it under Philosophy, so we can actually sit here and philosophize about it for a bit. Or maybe dive into mass psychology and whatever... Hmm. Maybe we should just rename the whole section to "Philosophy and Other Life Stuff" 🙂.

Okay, fine, I'm messing around a little. But seriously, this whole topic about that unfortunate ljenost is actually starting to bug me😢.
