Tips for quitting smoking! in Health ·
Patrick Williams said:Generally speaking, cutting back on cigarettes isn't some endless process—I tend to agree with those who say people eventually just slide right back to their old habits.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with that. I’m not exactly part of the group looking to quit entirely, but I will weigh in on this specific point.

About six years ago, I was smoking around two packs a day—it just got to be too much—so I cut myself down to five cigarettes a day. That’s been my limit ever since. I didn't touch any pills, gum, sprays, or patches; I don't know if those things even work, but I suppose willpower and making a decision is what matters 😉.

As of now, I have no intention of giving up those last five cigarettes. It's not that I couldn't—I probably could (most likely, though I'm no expert, I assume 😉)—there were months where I didn't light up once, but... I don't know, for now, those five are fine with me. I don't think it's an excessive amount, yet it's still a small habit 😉 🙂

Why not? Go ahead—🙂 though I suppose it might be more useful to just say it here, so others can actually benefit from it if they need to. 😁

Patrick Williams said:Do you want to quit smoking? I do—but I can't seem to make it happen. If anyone else is looking to quit, maybe we could try using this thread to support each other and swap stories. Right now, I'm at about a pack and a half of ultralights a day. I've been smoking for 15 years, so I'm fully aware of the health risks, but the habit is just too strong. I managed to go two weeks without once, but the cravings were brutal—so I started again. Still, if I did it once, I suppose I can do it a second time; it’s probably just a matter of strengthening my willpower and motivation. What has your experience been like?

I smoke. I don't have any desire to stop right now.

Don't even get me started, because I'm definitely 🎉 😕 🙄... so, today's update—honestly, it's been a rough one... probably just the rain, I guess. 🙄

I wasn't expecting anything, really. 😁

Yeah—assuming you actually have the floor space—and if you intend to actually use it, I guess. 🙂

The person isn't allergic to it—that’s exactly why I bought it.🙂

Kenneth Hernandez67👍 juice seems to be yielding better results than all those crappy pills I bought... at least, that's how it looks to me🙂

Same here, I guess. 🙂

😁 look, I don't want to waste anything—so if I give it to him, whether it actually helps...🤔 well, that’s debatable...

Anyway, my wife has the flu right now, and now my husband caught it from her despite being vaccinated, yet here I am... still not sneezing...😁 👋

Look, I think mistyhound2 was talking about taking Vitamin C once you already have the flu, rather than using it as prevention 🙂 I also take the 500 mg from Net Worth and I don't get any viruses, flu, or anything else... 👍

dustycanyon6 said:The Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post write all sorts of nonsense... But what they probably should be covering—they just don't. Have you actually read anywhere that those vaccines contain mercury and formaldehyde? Ever wondered why you shouldn't get vaccinated while you're sick? Vaccination isn't some harmless little thing. Honestly, half of those health and medical columns are pure garbage. And look... if the government already bought all those vaccines, I guess they might as well use them, right? 🙂

Look, it’s true that the LA Times and The Washington Post print all kinds of junk. 😁 But since I don't personally know anyone with similar experiences—and I thought those papers were okay enough, I guess. Whatever.

Regarding the vaccine ingredients—mercury and formaldehyde—I really don't know. I'm just looking for a bit of advice regarding the flu I already caught. 🙂 I'm hardly competent enough to make an impact on bad vaccine ingredients 😢 if they are indeed what you claim they are. 🙂
I believe he got vaccinated with the best intentions—to avoid this actual mess. 🙂

dustycanyon6 said:Hydrogen peroxide in the ear? If you check the link, there’s a story from a reader who tried an old German remedy...

Thanks, but I'm definitely not putting hydrogen peroxide in his ear... 🙂
Roger Cox10—stop vaccinating the little guy! Vaccines contain mercury and formaldehyde, and there really is no reason to poison your child. You might end up finding out he was vaccinated for nothing anyway.

He isn't a child—he's my 😍 boyfriend. 🙂 Regarding vaccines, I read in the Los Angeles Times/The Washington Post that they're effective for about 80% of people, so I assume it wasn't pointless—it just didn't work for him specifically... so what? 🙂

The meds haven't really done anything for him yet... 😢 maybe the next round will work better—Kenneth Hernandez67 actually mentioned a herbal recipe to me, so I might give that a shot. 🙂 Thanks for the advice. 🙂

Jonathan Reed4 said:Look, I’m certainly not exactly in my prime either, but thankfully I didn't deal with any major complications—usually just pneumonia.
Personally, I figure if someone's vaccinated, they won't catch the full-blown flu... maybe some virus, but it should be milder than actual influenza.
Either way, they'll need to stay in bed, keep hydrated, and listen to 😉

Fingers crossed. 👍

Hmm, this doesn't seem quite as benign as it did this afternoon... 😢

I'm going to head out, shove a handful of pills into his mouth, give him a little shake so he doesn't just 🙂 and sing 🙂 (just kidding)—that might cheer him up 😉.

Anyway, thanks for sharing your stories. 🙂

Jonathan Reed4 said:I had it last year... if I hadn't, I wouldn't have believed it. It was awful!!!
It lasted a whole week—I literally couldn't get out of bed.
That's why I got vaccinated this year.

A full week?! Damn... 😢 is there actually a difference between older folks and younger people? 😢 Like, maybe seniors face more complications or something? I mean, if you know... I wasn't really paying attention to that lady on TV when she mentioned it the other day—just wasn't interested in the whole drama back then.😬

Jonathan Reed4 said:Even some viruses come with high fevers—that doesn't mean it's the flu.
It’s perfectly normal to feel miserable if you're running a high temperature.
But does he have muscle aches? A headache?

Honestly, it probably doesn't matter right now—the remedy is basically the same... plenty of fluids (not hot), Vitamin C, and something to bring the fever down.

I ended up picking up 😬 some Voltaren, DayQuil, Aspirin, Vitamin C, Sudafed, nasal drops, and zinc... 😬 I mean, I'm no expert, damn it. 😁

Anyway, I managed to get him to take it all. 😬 Just kind of... 😁 I'm starting this thread just so people can chime in on how long it usually takes to pass—I wouldn't know since 🙂 my old man had it once, but he recovered pretty fast.

Jonathan Reed4 said:How can you be sure it's the flu? Maybe it's just some other, milder virus?

Look, a woman on the news mentioned that the flu usually presents with general malaise and a high fever—well, that's exactly what's happening here. It isn't just a common cold.😢
