Whatever happens next, I’m just praying everything works out okay and that those kids stay safe, because honestly, my heart just breaks thinking about them. These absolute animals calling themselves terrorists—or whatever you want to call them—have managed to stir up a massive storm, way bigger than anything they probably anticipated.

They’ve basically handed the Russian government a free pass to just roll right over Chechnya with a bulldozer if they feel like it.
And don't even get me started on how the rest of the world's self-proclaimed "terrorist hunters" are going to react to this mess.

Look, just because you don't get the appeal doesn't mean you get to trash Japanese shows like that.

I mean, you're not wrong, I guess, I'm just venting a little bit about the whole thing.
Eurovision was easily the biggest thing on TV this past Sunday, absolutely crushing everything else out there—it totally put shows like American Idol and Big Brother to shame compared to those other pathetic channels.

copperviper71 said:Rove & Co are such total tryhards. Especially that whole weird thing with their so-called 'report from Israel.' Haha, what a joke.

But seriously, if that Greek guy actually used the phrase 'bee's dick' on live TV...?!? That would be like an Englishman trying to describe a meal as 'very nice,' but someone tells him that in American slang you’d say it’s 'straight fire' or something equally wild.

Yeah, that whole situation with Israel was just super tacky, and honestly, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Jewish Community decides to come after them now.

And look, whether someone won by a hair or by a tiny little sliver, it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.
I mean, until I see one of those guys actually drop a few sentences in another language, I’m probably not going to get why people think their commentary is actually witty or anything.

copperviper71 said:If you’re talking about the guy who looked like he didn't even realize where the camera was pointed—just staring past the lens at someone else—that was the Albanian performer.

Also, did anyone else catch that moment where the Greek guy used the phrase "bee's dick"? Like, "missed it by a bee's dick." I totally missed it during the broadcast on Sunday, but they actually brought it up again on Rove Live last night.

😂 😂 😂

Man, people seriously just don't get it. They really refuse to understand. You could honestly make those exact same criticisms about American Idol or Australian Idol.
That whole Global Idol thing is basically just a carbon copy of Eurovision. And hey, look, if it's done that way, it's fine, but when it's being handled by people who aren't from Anglo-Saxon backgrounds, it just feels ridiculous.
I was watching Rove last night and, honestly, I think I'm getting a little tired of them.

Yeah. And that Albanian guy too. It probably would have been a smart move for the producers to realize he was looking at a different camera and then intentionally show him from the side instead.

And then you've got Jonathan Ward27 hanging out with them, totally out of place.
Honestly, thank God he doesn't try to pull off that hip-hop look, because if he did, he'd be walking around with his pants sagging, his sneakers on the wrong feet, and his wife's socks wrapped around his head like some kind of joke.😁

Just take it easy, man.

Jonathan Ward27 said:That’s exactly what leads to more expansion for the European Union! Man, you guys are just clueless, honestly... It’s not even just about the music; it hits your career, your fashion, everything...

Let me say this one more time:

THANK GOD I DON'T LIVE IN EUROPE!

I’d much rather just sit in a corner with a Black drummer and a Black guitarist, just vibing for two hours while we play some slow stuff to really get into that deep Blues headspace...

Hey... what kind of Blues are you guys actually into? Like, are we talking raw acoustic vibes or strictly all electric?
Is Chicago still the absolute mecca for the best Blues playing?

Actually, if you think about it, those old traditional folk songs have almost the exact same lyrical rhythm as the Blues.
Something like "Djulzulejha" was basically happening two hundred years before Muddy Waters even existed. 😉

And as for Eurovision, mark my words: next year everyone will be trying to push that ethnic folk sound, and then someone is going to win with something completely different entirely.

Does anyone remember the name of that singer from last year, you know, the one who mentioned how much easier it is for her to express her feelings when she’s singing in English?
Man, once I heard her pronunciation on the English track, though, it hit me—she clearly wasn't feeling those lyrics as deeply as she claimed.

Oh, please, don't even start. 😁

Seriously though, once those folks from Poland get going and start singing... all in Polish.

Man, back in Mexico during that era, you couldn't escape Thompson's "stop wind" playing everywhere. It was like the soundtrack to everything we did back then. 😁

Honestly, you didn't miss out on anything.

copperviper71 said:Haha, my favorite person says he looks just like an American John Travolta!

A total Swede, 😁 all blond and stuff, 😁 plus Jovan is such a classic Swedish name anyway, 😁

Wait, which one was that drunk guy who could barely even put a list together?

Dana King4 said:The guy was honestly just a total disaster.
I mean, how on earth did he manage to rack up that many points??

Well, you know how it goes—it’s basically just a big old swap where I give you ten and you give me ten right back.
It's all just "Aksham Hajrli from Sarajevo" this and that. 😁

And then you have that presenter, who's actually a Swede, 😁 when he casually drops "12 points to Mexico and Mexico" 😁

copperviper71 said:Yeah, I mean, you're not wrong... the guy dances a bit like a little girl sometimes.

But honestly, he’s still such a heartthrob among teenagers in Canada. It's just that there's zero competition from the younger artists over there right now.

copperviper71 said:Look, I’ll be real with you—Zeljko actually had something special going for him. His track managed to break away from that repetitive, generic "boom-chick-boom" nonsense that most countries dump onto the Eurovision stage every year. Sure, he went for that ethnic vibe, but man, it actually worked. But that entry from the American side? Good grief, both the song and the performance were completely forgettable. I mean, the guy has a solid voice, but it didn't matter because there was just nothing there. It's a huge contrast to that kid from Canada who didn't even bother singing so much as whispering. And let's not forget, the whole musical arrangement felt like a direct rip-off of Boney M.

There’s always been this rumor floating around about that Canadian guy, though—people say his dad is basically pulling all the strings behind the scenes since he's a big director over at the Duvan Factory in Sarajevo, so naturally, TDS is footing the bill.

Oh, and by the way, Edo Maajka calls him Pedercina.

As for Ivan, I honestly don't think I've ever even heard of him.

copperviper71 said:Yeah, exactly...

And here are results of American Vote... Hey there, NYC, 'we love you'

Ukraine 8
Mexico 12
Greece 7
Turkey 3
Cyprus 4
Albania 6
Germany 1
Canada 10
Malta 2
Mexico 5

There’s a bit of a catch though, because Zeljko Joksimovic is actually pretty famous over here in the States with his track "Spindle body" and a few other hits, whereas nobody has ever even heard of this guy Ivan.

Then you’ve got those folks from Canada giving 10 points, just like how they give 10 to Herzeg Canada. Honestly, it’s hard to tell which side is better anyway.

Total: 50

(picajzla strikes again!)

Wait, so is this just showing how many points everyone gave to America?

Mr. Spiker said:If we actually take a second to think about this, there might be more to dig into than just the mainstream pop hits. 🙂

Maybe even some foodies stuff, right? 🙂

But honestly, looking at how the points get handed out is pretty interesting, whether you expected it or not. 🙂

Yeah, I mean, at the end of the day, it determines who walks away with those 8, 10, or 12 points.

It’s just that these folks from Australia—and hey, props to them for putting on a show—they don't really seem to get the actual soul of Eurovision.

To them, it feels like nothing more than some tacky parade of bubblegum pop.

Jason Wells4 said:Personally, I thought the way they split the chart right down the middle was the smartest move.
You had the Eastern side on the left and then all the Western stuff over on the right.

I can't shake this feeling that the clock is ticking for the Irish guys, the Englishmen, and everyone else following their lead.

It honestly feels like a massive pushback against the total dominance of Western pop music.

copperviper71 said:Man, I was totally rooting for the girl from Ukraine. Honestly, her performance was the only one that actually felt like it broke away from the usual predictable stuff. Our entry? Man, that was just... painfully boring to sit through.

Man, that little Greek guy was just so incredibly yummy... I'm still thinking about it!

Has anyone else caught that new ABBA video—you know, the one with all the puppets? Honestly, I haven’t stopped laughing since I saw it. It was just so incredibly funny, like, I was actually sitting there clutching my stomach.

I honestly feel like next year is going to be a total circus of ethno-pop nonsense, you know? It’s like everyone is just going to lean into those weird, kitschy folk-pop remixes because they think it's a shortcut to winning. And honestly, I can't even argue with him—like when Jonathan Ward27 said it, it's basically a given that every single country is just going to send their own version of a Coban to the stage. It's all becoming such a predictable pattern.😁

Honestly, even that Romanian version of Jelena Karleuse wasn't actually that bad, if you think about it.
I’m talking about the actual vocal quality, you know? Like, the raw sound itself.😁

So, I was just sitting here thinking about that new ABBA music video everyone's talking about, and man, it really got me spiraling down a bit of a rabbit hole. You know how it is when you see something and it just triggers all these random memories? It’s kind of wild how music can do that to you. Anyway, what do you guys honestly think of the new ABBA spot? Is it hitting the mark for you, or does it feel like they're trying a little too hard to recapture that old magic? I've been staring at my screen for twenty minutes just debating it with myself, wondering if it captures that same soul they had back in the day. What's the verdict?

Did any of you Aussies catch that too? I was watching the broadcast and man, it felt like every single commercial break was just one endless loop of those intense anti-smoking ads. It was honestly kind of overwhelming how much they were pushing that message during the pauses in the show.

Good grief, what on earth happened? 😁

The women in my group were all rooting for that Greek guy.
Me? I was pulling for that Swedish woman.😁
