Off-topic, for a second—I was at a meeting in Detroit and had CNN playing on the local cable in the background. Right during the lunch break, the news came on with some commentary about road construction, saying something like, "The final stretch will be paved by mid-August..." It took me a good half hour to explain it to the folks there who were genuinely baffled by the idea of someone only paving half a road!!

I saw the movie about 15 days ago. To be honest, the whole thing felt like a weird mashup of King Scorpion and Journey to the Center of the Earth—only with Freddy Krueger thrown into the mix. I grew up on Alien and Predator; I honestly don't even know how many times I've sat through them. However, this movie just completely trashes the magnificent concept of an AvP conflict. It was illogical, the pacing was non-existent, and the plot felt like something I could have scribbled down myself on a napkin. Still, I suppose the one redeeming quality is the sheer thrill of actually seeing an AvP showdown happening right in front of your eyes.

Mozda might be right, but there's still a certain thrill in watching the underdog fight, isn't there?

It’s a real shame the spectacle won't be hosted in either the States or Mexico and Mexico—it would have been such a missed opportunity to really rake in the cash from all those fans traveling in to catch the action!
