George Martin70 said:There’s this Chinese guy living in America—not some small-time hustler like that guy from the movies, but a legitimate Xingyi and Bagua master. He's based out in Seattle. I can get you his number, but honestly, who knows if he'll even bother taking on a student.
George Martin70 said:Yeah, you can tell right away he hasn't mastered anything. He's just like Cain’s sifu, or even 🤣 analogskipper74, constantly switching styles because he doesn't actually know his stuff. Ba gwa itself is incredibly complex. Take Cain—he can't wrap his head around her, let alone what she truly is. You don't just "train a little bit" and suddenly claim you understand her. Forget all that nonsense about Cain teaching you everything in five minutes. If you're actually serious about Ba gwa, I could give you a recommendation... but don't expect an invitation. It's a long shot, and honestly, I have no idea where you're even coming from...
...I am everywhere and nowhere... ...I wish you would tell me...
George Martin70 said:For once, Jamie Fowler2 actually said something smart. What’s shown above is just some Wu Shu gymnast doing Bagua moves. It has nothing to do with actual Bagua Chang forms. Same goes for Caine's forms—they look like Xingyi, but they aren't Xingyi because Caine doesn't even know what they're for...
...and Jet Li does the exact same thing with that Bagua form...😕
Jerry Thompson said:( You aren't even writing anything on the blog! 😢 )
...Look, I'm no novelist. This blog is basically a research paper. I said it would be released publicly later, but then I went ahead and posted it immediately because someone asked for it. Just give me a break here...
Jerry Thompson said:Jack of all trades, master of none. That’s the truth. Everyone wants to be an expert in one thing, but they miss the bigger picture. I'd rather know a little about everything than know one thing perfectly and be useless everywhere else. It's about versatility. Most people are too narrow-minded to see that. 👎
I'm with you there. In my book, you can't call yourself a master unless you've got at least 20 years of dirt under your fingernails practicing that one skill. Anything less is just playing around. It’s pretty sad, really. If someone actually decides to set a decency limit, then fine—the post won't be about me. Problem solved. ...but I’m sticking to my guns on what I said before. I'm staying with that claim because I KNOW it's the truth.
...Look, the point is the system is split like a torn playing card. You've got these puzzle pieces that supposedly make a whole, but they're just fragments... ...let your therapist explain that to you... ...the core of Chinese martial arts was simple: cleanliness + form + instinct = victory... ...forms exist to facilitate reaction... ...you might have perfect kung fu, but if it’s just good stances and attitude, it's incomplete. Then there’s another style that masters one specific movement—that's where the focus lies, since it started from a single form. Then a third style focuses on a different movement, also originating from its own single form... ...weapons are endless; there are hundreds of them. We're strictly talking about closed combat systems, which were the original concept for peak human self-defense... ...but the whole thing fell apart because it passed through too many hands...
...Now this is some decent Xing Yi, though even that isn't a pure Eight Hands technique... ...Watch until the end. The guy starts off slow, then picks up the pace normally...
...look, Jet Li talked a lot about Bagua in his movies, and I have to hand it to him, he executes the moves pretty well. That final scene in *The One* was basically an idealized version of what a conflict between Bagua and Xing Yi looks like. It was clearly just the director’s way of packaging it for the masses—pure cinematic entertainment. Think of it like those "what if" scenarios you see in pop culture where reality takes a backseat to the spectacle... ...the stuff I saw on YouTube has absolutely nothing to do with Baguazhang...
Jamie Fowler2 said:There’s no deception here... Bagua was created by a guy actually named Bagua. That's why. Because real masters of Bagua make the sound "baaaaaa-gwaaaaaa" while they breathe. 😬
But seriously. The single most valuable Baguazhang drill is walking in circles. Forget all the fancy variations and extra stuff. Just walking in circles is plenty.
😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
...you heard him, Brandon Hayes73. Go ahead, top that...😂>
...thanks, really appreciate it... ...you know what they say; if you see where the blacksmith works, you might just end up setting up shop right next to him... ...hehehe... ..."don't worry, Barba will take care of you; nobody’s going hungry on my watch"...that’s how Barba used to say it back in Sedona...
...lol, you remind me of my crazy cousin. He’s got those same exact vibes... ...that blog just screams "I don't know how to use a computer." Look, I get it. It doesn't matter how fancy the packaging looks, it's what's actually inside that counts... ...I’ll take all the criticism you want to throw at me, but keep the compliments to yourself... ...criticism makes you better. Praise just makes you arrogant...
