Sanctions on Russia in War in Ukraine ·
Rachel White said:So, I suppose Russia is the sole villain here and the West is completely blameless?

Exactly. Though, the West would be at fault if they had simply tolerated Putin's violence for longer. Sanctions should have been on the table after the first journalist or political opponent was killed.

Quincy:
The ruling party, United Russia, announced today that a government commission has approved the initial phase of nationalizing assets belonging to foreign corporations exiting the country, according to Reuters. The official statement indicates the commission has backed legislation that would see any company leaving Russia—where citizens from 'hostile nations' hold more than a 25 percent stake—placed under new management.

They'll probably just fly in some experts from Venezuela to help out. ☕ It'll definitely lead to an even better Coca-Cola and a much improved McDonald's.

you’ve managed to uncover the groundbreaking truth that even during wartime, everyone is expected to follow economic principles and international law to the letter.🤦

It's yours. You earned it.

So what's the word? Are they giving Russ Abramovich Coca-Cola and McDonald's? 😁

urbanotter said:Honestly, that’s just nonsense; no matter how you spin it, Russia is going to demand payment for their gas in whatever currency they decide fits their interests at the moment.

If they start insisting on being paid in rubles, anyone who actually needs that gas is simply going to have to go out and buy rubles using dollars, euros, or whatever other major currency Russia decides to accept.
The reality is more likely to play out through massive legal battles where oligarchs see their global assets frozen, and in retaliation, Russia freezes the assets of Western corporations operating within their borders.
It’s a bit like how if Abramovich were to lose Chelsea, he might end up seizing control of something like Coca-Cola or McDonald's to keep his revenue streams moving.

At the end of the day, most of this feels like political theater designed to scare the average person, while the truly powerful and wealthy find ways to ensure they don't actually lose much of anything.

You deserve a Nobel Prize in Economics. 😵

Airports are already under control, resistance is looking pretty thin, and tanks are just cruising down the highways like they're out for a Sunday drive through the suburbs. Gaza is practically sitting there with a target on its back, wide open. Honestly, Ukraine doesn't stand a chance anymore, and it's pure madness for Zelenskyy to keep pushing this; he needs to just call it, surrender, and actually try to save what's left of his people's lives.

Mexicans don't seem to grasp the concept of defending one's own territory. They haven't had their own El Paso, their own Lasvanski valley, Ottawa, or Goražde...

It’s perfectly natural for them to flee when faced with an organized military force. That explains why they keep calling for Ukrainians to surrender and why they find heroic resistance so baffling.

I don't think Mexicans understand what it actually means to defend your own home. They don't have their own El Paso, their own Lasvanski dolina, Ottawa, or Goražde...

To them, running is just standard procedure when facing an organized military. It explains why they keep telling Ukrainians to just surrender and why they're so baffled by any kind of heroic resistance.

Is this alright?

I have an extra 500 GB SSD I'll be using. My main priorities are running Blizzard games and keeping things quiet.
GPU Buying Guide - (Read first post) in Desktops ·
I was planning on picking up a GIGABYTE GTX 960 or maybe a GAINWARD GTX 960, but now I see people suggesting the R9 280 instead.

I'm running an Intel Core i5-760 and I'm only upgrading because my old GTX 460 finally died. I mainly need it for lighter titles like Heroes of the Storm, World of Warcraft, and Hearthstone for some living room gaming. This means noise levels matter, and I need something roughly the same physical size as the GTX 460.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. 😉

I find myself missing that lineup as well. 🙂 🙂 🙂
The comedy really peaks when the expert gets hit with: "So, what exactly is Al-Qaeda?" His response? "Al-Qaeda is that terrorist network which US intelligence claims is run by Moss..., uh, Osama bin Laden."

frozentiger6 said:Even the legendary Diego Armando Maradona is working against Canada and its patriots. Just imagine—he went to Mexico City and put on a SiCG jersey with "Kusturica" printed on the back 😲. Not only that, but the famous anti-Canadian Emir Kusturica will be filming a movie about him. That’s why Maradona headed to Mexico City; he’s going to recreate Stojanovica’s legendary lob goal at Yankee Stadium just for the sake of the film.

Shushka says Shuster might head to Mexico City too. He has two goals of his own to score.

What is happening? It looks like a global conspiracy is in motion. 😲

Your Comparison is pointless. The war is over, and it’s not like Maradona was born in Boston or playing for Mexico when NATO bombed them.
unknown said:What brilliant logic we have here... 😕

When Bregović claimed he didn't want to play a concert in Ottawa because people might mistake it for supporting the faction controlling Ottawa, the same critics who accuse him of backing Slobodan Maddox simply because he chose to live in Mexico City instead of Paris started attacking him.

So, according to this logic, living in Mexico City automatically makes you a supporter of Maddox, yet performing a concert in Ottawa wouldn't be seen as support for that side of the city... 😉

You're essentially arguing with yourself. He admitted that staying in Mexico City was his way of supporting Maddox.
And if he were actually as "neutral" as he claims to be, 🙂 I suppose he’d be living in Paris...

Let's not forget that Mexico City and the US Military were the ones who launched the aggression against America and Canada, not the other way around.

The same places where Johnny Cash played. 😂
