Yeah, I’m taking it easy. Honestly, I can't seem to talk myself into actually getting down to business, even though we all know the work is out there waiting. It’s just this stubborn laziness washing over me 😬
I’ve got this nagging fear that things are going to get pretty ugly once I finally "wake up" and realize I'm already running behind schedule 😬
I don't handle retail, so I didn't want to chime in and start spreading misinformation. I checked with a colleague, and she mentioned they process everything through the POS system. Sorry I can't be more helpful here, but I just don't use that module at all.
Well, I just had to delete another post. Jessica Grant56 and Terry Johnson3, please take it to the DMs if you two have more to say to one another. I’m not going to sit here and moderate endless nitpicking. Whether there's actual substance to the argument or it's just noise, I'll be scrubbing anything from anyone looking to start a fight.
Jessica Grant56 said:Henry, happy new beginnings to you—but look, if you step back and really observe how everyone is talking, with all this rudeness and lack of manners, you have to wonder who the crazy one actually is. Though, we all know who is responsible for letting this kind of behavior slide.
In my opinion, they shouldn't have allowed that comment: "I'm telling you, Sophia is garbage..." because that is a direct insult to thousands of users. But you just left it standing there? Not to mention how that sounds to the developers, who actually care about the software, refine it, and ultimately make their living from it. Just like how the "business plan" seems to have vanished—along with many others like Paul, Vlad, Deborah, and so on—and even I haven't been seen here for months... it's pretty obvious the editorial policy is broken. It feels like tolerating one person has driven everyone else away.
So, what now? Everything goes back to the way it was? I don't envy you—you spend all this time on it, only for someone to come along and tell you that you're doing it wrong. But hey, I guess that's just the price of moderating. I've been in those shoes before.
Thanks, Happy New Year to everyone. I hope you all had a good one.
It’s honestly pretty draining to read everything you've written here because scaring people off was never my intention.
You're attacking the moderation, but at the end of the day, it’s just a handful of basic ground rules. Don't get personal and don't spam links. I didn't realize those were such heavy asks. Think about how many times someone on a tech forum might say a specific software like Microsoft Office isn't up to par—you've made similar comments about TechCrunch more than a few times yourself. It doesn't bother me, and it shouldn't offend anyone using the platform. As for the developers of the software being discussed, if they have an issue with the critique, they are more than welcome to register and join the conversation themselves. Again, as long as they aren't calling users illiterate, morons, or idiots... (and that's being generous, because I've seen much nastier stuff on accounting software boards). Then you turn around and blame me for "allowing" rude behavior. That's an interesting take. What was I supposed to do? Hand out bans left and right? Maybe I should have, but I still believe that grown adults can carry on a civilized conversation. It would be eye-opening to pull up all the moderator warnings—and I wasn't the only one issuing them—just to see who actually triggered them and how the conversation spiraled. It's rarely just one person's fault while everyone else acts like saints. 😉
As far as I'm concerned, I've said my piece on this. I'm always open to constructive feedback and actual suggestions. I'm doing the best I can, but I truly believe we can work together to make this sub-forum a place where everyone actually enjoys hanging out.
Once again, wishing everyone a successful and Happy 2012.
I’m about to lose my mind here. 🤣 Well, damn, Terry Johnson3, what was the point of that?
I guess I was being naive and a bit foolish if I actually thought grown adults were capable of having a decent conversation. It’s hard to wrap my head around the fact that you basically have to drop down to a five-year-old's level just to be heard.

Sure, I’m all-powerful. 😉
Terry Johnson3 said:It’s both, genius. You should probably know that by now. It sounds like some pipe dream to me. 🙂 Meanwhile, Sisenis isn't dreaming; he's just stuck in the mud. 🙂
Man, I really hope the mods don't just archive this nonsense. Hopefully, they'll show some mercy and move it over to the chat instead...
First off, I want to address what matters most to me. To be honest, it’s a shame some people have moved on. I learned a lot from them. Their genuine desire to help, combined with their expertise and patience, really left an impression on me, and I truly wish they would come back. Dubravka is a wonderful woman. I admire how patient she was, even with the most trivial questions. Her expertise and experience are exactly what we all strive for, so her leaving was genuinely saddening. Then there’s L.A., who has almost stopped posting entirely. Every single one of his posts was educational; he had this way of making you reach your own conclusions by connecting the dots of the law himself. He didn't just hand you the answers on a silver platter. You actually had to think, and he acted as a guide. A fantastic teacher. I’ll stop there, even though there are plenty of others I should mention.
Vladimir, VTi, Vitas, mina jasmina, and several others really go out of their way to make sure nobody is left without an answer. They are just a few of the people I deeply respect, and I’m grateful for their contributions to this sub-forum. They’ve helped me immensely, and I’m sure they’ve done the same for many others.
Now, let me move on to other things, because if I keep going like this, I’ll end up writing a memoir instead of a post. 🤣
I believe communication is vital. That’s the whole point of the Forum—the clash of different perspectives. My only wish is that threads wouldn't get started so haphazardly. These topics are massive and involve a lot of reading. A new user won't be able to find their footing and will likely give up if they have to wade through a sea of posts that say nothing of substance, serving as little more than a private conversation between a couple of regulars.
Regarding accounting software: I currently use Synesis, and I haven't quite decided whether I’ll stick with the same brand or switch things up. Besides the three or four programs mentioned here, I’ve looked at others too. There are some excellent options out there, but unfortunately, nobody seems to advertise them. Paul mentions one specific program. No one is forbidden from talking about their own software; the only rule is no direct linking, and he respects that. I couldn't be happier if representatives from Synesis, Pantheon, Faros, or any other software providers decided to register here. It would allow for high-quality discussions where users could actually compare programs and exchange real feedback. After all, who better to praise or criticize a tool than the accountant who uses it every day?
And look at this—you're accusing me of protecting Paul, while he's accusing me of protecting you by letting your posts stay up while deleting his. You're asking if there's some secret alliance? I'll let you draw your own conclusions. 😉
Jessica Grant56, out of respect for you and the handful of others who actually contribute here, I want to lay things out clearly. Moving forward, please take these kinds of debates and side stories over to the chat thread. This specific topic is far too valuable to be wasted on petty arguments. Every single time this thread gets bumped by a question or a comment, a small group of you jumps in, and it always devolves into toxic back-and-forth about who’s the bigger expert. It’s completely unnecessary for people to lecture you on your skills or tell Business what they should be doing when neither of you actually knows the software inside and out. I won't stand for it. Those of us who actually work with—or develop—this software need to be able to read through these posts carefully. We need to protect this high-quality information instead of letting it drown in a sea of insults and ego trips. You have no idea how many posts I’ve had to delete, or how many people reach out to me via DM. If you want to argue, go to the chat thread. This space is strictly for software-related discussion. No exceptions. If you don't like that, you know where to take your complaints. I’ll leave this post up for today, but it will be deleted shortly. Any further discussion regarding this should happen in the chat—our virtual coffee thread.
