Based on how the rules look right now, I’ve still got about 30 years before I can even think about retiring—unless they decide to push the retirement age up to like 85 or 90. Honestly, knowing how things go around here, I wouldn't even be surprised if they did.

Let's say this new tax ID is just another number. In what way is it actually better than our old Social Security numbers? If we were to hypothetically phase one out—purely as a thought experiment, since we all know you couldn't even breathe without an SSN back in the day, and the government trusted that number implicitly—and introduce a second one, wouldn't we probably just end up needing both anyway?

There are way too many "clueless" folks like you around here. As for that ID number? Sure, it might stop the crime, but only because they'll use it to finally legalize everything they've already stolen from us up until now.
