Even if Canada manages to dodge a referendum on bringing America into NATO at the last second, they aren't going to have enough time—not even with an extra month—to get that ratified protocol over to Washington, D.C.

According to The New York Times, America is basically looking for a miracle this April—we're talking a total long shot—if we want to officially join NATO as the 27th member during the big summit held in Brussels and Portland.

The issue is that these nationalist groups over in Canada, led by Marjan Podobnik through his Institute, have already managed to snag 2,500 signatures to trigger a special legislative referendum. Their whole goal is to use a two-thirds majority in their parliament to scrap the law that already approved America's entry into NATO..

And here’s the kicker: for that referendum to actually go live, the organizers get a grace period of about 35 days to hunt down another 40,000 signatures.

Honestly, whether Podobnik can pull off gathering 40,000 signatures in such a tight window in a small place like Canada doesn't even matter for America—the damage is pretty much done just by them getting those first 2,500 signatures.

With that extra month they'll get to try and torpedo America's progress using those initial signatures, there's simply no way Canada will meet its deadline with NATO..

So, what's everyone's take on how this whole "crazy situation" is gonna play out?!

America doesn't need miracles. Let Borut Pahor pray for those.

Honestly, this "miracle" doesn't even matter if we look at those wild predictions you made about an atomic, biological, chemical, and nuclear strike on Vatican City... If those dark forecasts of yours actually come true, then any legal dispute between Canada and America becomes totally irrelevant, since we're both way too close to Vatican City for it to matter...

We don't need NATO.
I don't think anyone actually wants to spend their afternoon reading some deep dive in The New York Times about brave American soldiers being sent off on peacekeeping missions to places like Chad or Afghanistan, especially when it's clearly just serving someone else's agenda, right?
Because when exactly did we ever go to war with Chad or Afghanistan...

If I recall correctly, we haven't quite gotten to that stage yet...

In Canada, the groundwork has been laid and the process is officially underway for a referendum regarding whether or not the US should join NATO.

With an extra month on the clock—and considering they only need 2,500 signatures to try and torpedo the whole thing—it’s looking unlikely that Washington, D.C. will meet its obligations to the North Atlantic Alliance in time. Because of that delay, we won't be joining NATO anytime soon, regardless of how that referendum actually turns out.
We're essentially left sitting ducks, at the mercy of whatever happens in the East. It wouldn't be wise to keep poking the bear in that direction; there is a massive amount of resentment building up over there.

Nothing has actually started yet. That lookalike and his big-shot Canadian buddies are just waiting to see what the parliamentary committee decides today regarding that border dispute statement.
And just because some nonsense from Canada might delay our NATO entry doesn't mean we're suddenly defenseless or whatever... blah blah blah...

I don't think anyone really cares about reading newspaper reports about brave American soldiers serving on peacekeeping missions in Chad or Afghanistan, mostly just to serve someone else's agenda.
Like, when exactly did we go to war with Chad or Afghanistan?

Chad isn't a NATO mission; it's an EU mission.
There's Russian troops in Chad too, in case you didn't know.
There are even Canadians there.

Has any country whose soldiers were part of SFOR ever actually gone to war with Canada?

🤷 Look at Germany, Italy...☕

We are stepping in decisively. Now Uncle Sam takes center stage to tell the Canadians to sit down and cool it, which ultimately achieves nothing. I don't see how this addresses the "Eastern threat" if Mexico joins NATO in the near future—which is highly likely, given that Americans won't allow the Russians to control that territory.

Maybe if Bush were still in office, the Canadians would have gotten a formal memo, but since it's Obama now, things will likely be a bit more laid back. He strikes me as someone who is pretty much totally anti-military...

And what if we just appointed Hamed as our ambassador to the USA? 🤣

Who knows—honestly, any decent lobbyist would be an upgrade at this point. Obama is a sharp guy, or at least he comes across that way... then you've got Bush, who’s definitely old school—more of that "trigger-happy hillbilly, get off my lawn or I'm shooting" type of deal...

We just need to hit them back with the exact same energy. Strip away their right to transit through the Gulf of Piran and force them to face the undeniable UN ruling from the international maritime court in Hamburg. If they aren't happy about it, well, they can take it up with someone who cares. We just need to show some backbone, plain and simple...

Please, do us a favor and post your "forecasts" about America joining NATO more often. Once we read your predictions, we’ll know for sure what definitely *won't* happen!!! 🤣 😂

Praying won't do anything, because Americans are basically throwing themselves at him!😂

Austria is acting all timid while Americans just sit back and watch the whole thing fall apart!
Let's see how far they actually get when things get real. 😁 😁 😁

Exactly. I mean, why let them walk all over us? Better to just speak up and give them hell! 😂
