Obstacles on the tracks in Cycling ·

The red coloring simply marks the sections of the bike path where you're likely to come into contact with pedestrians.
For instance, at that bus stop over on Main Street in New York City, the red path stretches out quite a bit because it cuts right through the sidewalk area where people are waiting for about four different buses. In spots where there isn't any expected interaction with pedestrians, the bike lane is just marked with a standard yellow line.

So, look—if there's a crosswalk without a red strip, that isn't officially a bike lane; you're expected to get off your bike and walk it until the path (whether it's red or not)
starts up again.
If there is a red strip running across the crosswalk, then it counts as a bike lane, and you don't need to dismount to maintain your priority.

That’s exactly how my driving instructor explained it to me last year.
Kondroin: Any experiences? in Health ·
Personally, I find that ice only does the trick if I’ve taken a direct hit to the knee or elbow. For those lingering aches that aren't the result of a recent impact—the kind that just sort of settles in—ice doesn't do much for me at all. That's why I've been trying to see if Kondroin can actually make a difference.

Look, there isn’t much scientific proof that Kondroin actually regenerates cartilage or anything like that, but personally? After just a few days, the pain usually lets up.

Thanks! You've sold me—I'll try it for about a month at most and see how it goes.

I’m looking into using Kondroin plus capsules to deal with some ongoing knee issues—specifically osteoarthritis.
If anyone here has actual, hands-on experience with this, I’d love to know how long you stuck with it, whether you actually noticed a difference, or if you eventually just called it quits?

Alex Stewart said:Can you point me to the exact page? I’m still looking and I just don't see where it mentions the 30-minute limit.

The book I have is the second edition postojati i nov 3 .
Check the chapter titled "How to Measure Your IQ," specifically page 41 in the INTRODUCTION.
The following excerpt is taken from lines 10 through 14, counting down from the top:

Each test is allotted a strict window of 30 minutes. Once those 30 minutes have elapsed from the moment you begin the first problem, you must stop; naturally, your score is simply determined by how many problems were solved correctly within that designated timeframe.

I'll take a look tonight—I don't have the document handy right now.

Alex Stewart said:I find this book pretty useless for two main reasons: first, the word problems are often completely nonsensical—likely due to some terrible translation job—and second, there's no time limit for the tests, which is just plain stupid. Sure, if you want to breeze through with a 90-100% score, you can, but isn't time supposed to be the primary constraint? I don't see the point of the book if anyone can just sit there and easily scrape a 140+ score without any pressure.

I actually went ahead and checked the book to see how much time you're supposed to spend on each test.
Each test is meant to take 30 minutes. It’s honestly ridiculous that they don't state this in the actual section explaining how to take the tests, but instead bury it in one of the earlier chapters!

I scored a 42—though three of those were errors—but I didn't catch the exact percentile because the scale popped up right as I stepped out of the room.
Look, this wasn't exactly a high-stakes assessment, but honestly? It gave me just enough motivation to tackle something a bit more rigorous.
I managed to track down a book by Eysenck called "Check Your Intelligence," and I just leafed through
it, and the problems seem significantly more demanding; there are eight different sub-tests involved.
Has anyone here actually heard of this author? And more importantly, can the results from these specific tests be taken seriously?

Last Friday, I caught that "IQ test" show over on FOX. Did any of you actually sit down and try to tackle the questions? Personally, I found the whole thing a bit too simplistic—almost trivial, if I'm being honest. For those who missed the broadcast, you can give it a shot yourself at www.rtl.hr/iqtest.
I’d be interested to hear from anyone here who has experience sitting for a Mensa-style exam. What’s your take on the difficulty level?
Thanks for the tip, Leah!
I’ve heard my fair share of horror stories regarding WD-40—it definitely has a bit of a reputation. However, I hadn't even considered using their dry lubricant until now. I did a quick little deep dive online, and honestly, the price point seems incredibly reasonable. I'm definitely adding it to my shopping list!
I went out for a ride today and, thank goodness, managed to dodge both downpours from The New York Times.

What do you all think is the best way to handle the drivetrain after riding in the rain?
Is just wiping everything down enough, or should I be spraying something on there or applying some kind of lube?

I’ve got a basic commuter—think along the lines of a Citi Bike—that's at least ten years old now. Up until this point, I've pretty much only ridden when the weather was bone dry. Honestly, I don't have the energy to get out there two or three times a month even when the conditions are perfect, but I really don't want to just toss this thing into a scrap heap; it's still a solid bike.
How are view counts calculated? in Forum Help! ·
slycrane94 said:The math checks out—but there’s no reason to push an update every single second. I don't see this being such a mission-critical feature that it justifies taxing the server load like that.

I agree it isn't exactly vital, but it was one of those things that just wouldn't let me rest. I've always been the type who has to take everything apart just to understand the inner workings.
How are view counts calculated? in Forum Help! ·
I’ve been noticing that the view count column doesn't actually seem to reflect reality.
After I finish reading through a thread, the number doesn't tick up—and this happens even with brand-new threads that I haven't even touched before.
I’ve tried navigating back to the forum home page and refreshing the browser, but the count remains stubbornly frozen at the same number.

Can someone please walk me through the logic here—how exactly is the system calculating these views?

Thanks for the link.
It’s honestly pretty fascinating—and a bit surprising, too. I had absolutely no clue just how widespread this phenomenon actually is. There are even links to several related concepts, so I think I've found plenty of material to dive into tonight.

Could someone please clarify what people actually mean when they throw around terms like "troll" or "clone" here? I’ve noticed they’re used as pretty heavy insults.
From what I gather, using those labels can lead to someone being subject to Banning—as in, getting blocked or kicked off the forum entirely.

I'm still finding my footing on this board and, frankly, I’d rather not get booted before I’ve even had a chance to figure out how everything works.
