copperfox172 said:Hey @Chloe Garcia98, what kind of ankle boots or winter footwear are you wearing these days?
I’m pretty athletic—mostly just live in black tracksuits or joggers.
I was thinking about picking up some Ugg-style boots, but everyone keeps telling me that look doesn't work for someone tall and curvy like me.🤷
Anyone got any advice?😉

I actually have a pair of Ugg-style boots and wear them with skinny jeans—they look totally fine on me, and I’m pretty tall too😉. Though, to be honest, I don't wear them that much.

This winter, I'll mostly be living in this:

When I'm wearing skirts, I go with these:

I’ve never actually picked up clothes at Target before, but now that I’m pregnant, I really need some affordable tees in two sizes up—and they had those basic cotton ones in plenty of colors.

I’m not sure what you mean when people say they don't carry larger sizes; I grabbed a size 16 for myself, and there was actually a decent selection of those shirts and sweaters I was looking at in that range.

Didn't really look at the bottoms.

The tops are fine—nothing better than H&M, Old Navy, or similar stuff.

Nicholas Garcia10 said:Hey ladies. 🙂

Where do you guys pick up your underwear (mostly looking for thongs and boyshorts—basic cotton stuff, but lace and whatever else too 😍), without it costing an absolute fortune? Like, actually reasonable prices. To be honest, I haven't really bothered looking through the usual big-box stores lately, so if they have anything decent at H&M or somewhere similar, let me know. 🙂

I'm usually a size 12, maybe a 14 depending on how the cut is.

I often find some really pretty pairs at the Victoria's Secret outlet for a decent price (like $6.25). When I see those fancier lace ones at good prices, they're usually from there. 😍

As for the basics, I'm a fan of high-waisted styles, so I was pretty stoked when I saw a 5-pack on Target for $17 a couple of months back. I also grabbed a few of those $2 pairs—they're perfectly fine for everyday wear, honestly. Way better than the stuff from Walmart that seems to fall apart the second you wash it.

A few little things arrived today, and honestly, I’m pretty happy with them.

I ordered a green and black dress from the Figleaves site—they aren't technically maternity wear, but they work perfectly for pregnancy since there's plenty of room for the bust and belly; they're actually cut for a fuller D+ cup, stretch maternity casual pants (I grabbed an XL and they are huge—definitely sliding around a bit and quite baggy, but they'll be perfect once the bump grows a little more), and some maternity pajama bottoms too.

Everything is great, and the prices were pretty fair. 👍 The sizing runs really large—I went with a US 18 since the dresses aren't maternity—and I probably could have squeezed into a smaller size, but right now I prefer having that extra breathing room so nothing feels tight. 🙂

image

I also picked up a swimsuit because finding one I actually like in my size is such a nightmare. I found one with a similar cut to something I bought in London a few years back, and I've been hunting for a deal on something like it ever since. Finally stumbled upon this one for $16, so it was a total steal. 🎉 Looks like I'll finally have a new suit for next year!

Still waiting on some jeans from eBay, those two dresses, and some leggings from ASOS. I ordered the non-maternity leggings in a US 18-20; I gave up on the expensive maternity ones, hoping these ASOS ones will be wide enough not to dig into my stomach ($13 the others I tried were such a rip-off per piece that I just couldn't justify it). I'm not worried about the leg width, though—I'm tall, so most of the fabric just gets eaten up by my leg length.

Over at Mango, I picked up a lovely blue cardigan for $20(I ordered a Large despite my growing chest, fearing it might be too small, but it fits just right—really flattering, actually).

Someone mentioned Target earlier, so I swung by and picked up a black and a gray cardigan, similar to this blue one from Mango, in a size 18. I think I'll wear them over some shirts I already own that don't fit quite as well, just to hide my figure a little. 😬

So, there's my new wardrobe. And the best part? I didn't even have to go broke doing it. 🎉
Fashion for curvy girls in Fashion ·
Thanks for all the replies, Cure. 😘

Especially 😍darkbadger88🙂, who offered up that coat. It sounds sweet—if you have it handy, I’d happily take it off your hands for $20 (though I wouldn't touch a smaller size). 😉

I went browsing through some shops yesterday that carry larger sizes, and a US size 14 feels alright. I picked up a layered jacket from Dick's Sporting Goods—the kind where you can zip out the fleece part—so it should handle different temperatures pretty well. I can button it over my chest, and there's still enough room for the bump, though I doubt I'll be able to close it by the very end.
I also grabbed some maternity leggings from them; the waistband is just a drawstring rather than being super tight, so hopefully, I can wear them under the bump for a good while. They actually have a decent selection in size 14.

I ordered some Mamas and Papas maternity jeans on eBay for about $15, so fingers crossed they fit. I also discovered ASOS has a tiny selection of maternity stuff in US size 14, so I grabbed a few long-sleeved dresses with some stretch—just in case 😬—because a little spandex goes a long way.

Now I still need to hunt down maternity support hose. I think the standard ones we have here won't work since they fit me fine when I'm not pregnant. EDIT: Okay, found a shop that carries maternity support hose in larger sizes. They're a bit pricey (free shipping is the only perk, really), so I'll try to find something cheaper before I dive in.

At this point, shirts are my only real issue, but that's the least of my worries. I'll probably just hit up Target for those basic tees in size 14/16 when they have their XXL sales. Does anyone know what the largest size they carry in those basics is?

I hate spending huge amounts of money on things I'll only wear for a few months. Everything I've ordered has been from sales, mostly in the $10-$$50 range, so hey, I'll make it through.

Oh, just remembered something else—where did you guys buy oversized nightgowns for the hospital? Does anyone know if the local markets carry larger sizes?

Where can curvy pregnant women shop? 🙂

Before getting pregnant, I was usually a size 14, and I mostly ordered US 16 or 18 from online stores.

But now, my bust measurement has shot up to about 53 inches 🙂 (it was around 47 inches before), and honestly, nobody even realizes I'm pregnant because my chest is so much larger than my bump 🤦—so I have zero clue what to wear once the weather turns cold.

I’ve managed to scrape by this summer in old stretchy dresses, but when autumn hits, I’m going to need actual pants, a big jacket, something.

I’m not holding my breath for a huge selection of my size here in the States, but I’m totally lost with these new measurements and have no idea what size to order. I'm in my second trimester and have only put on about 2 pounds so far. Aside from the massive chest and a tiny little bump, everything else is pretty much the same.

What size should I aim for with a 53-inch bust? Does anyone have similar measurements just so I can get an idea of where I land in standard sizing? (Those size charts are never actually helpful, are they?)

The places I usually shop at—like ASOS, Dept, or New Look—only go up to US 18 in their maternity lines. Dept does carry bigger sizes, but their stuff is always too short in the arms and legs for me since I'm 5'11", so I don't want to deal with looking like I'm wearing someone else's hand-me-downs. Since I doubt I'll fit into a maternity US 18, I'm left looking at plus-size ranges. And I'm clueless there, too, because I usually stuck to regular US 18 since ASOS's plus-size 18 felt way too big on me.

So, my questions are:

1) What size in the plus-size section should I target? Keep in mind the rest of me is still basically a US 18—maybe a 20 now—it's just my chest that went wild. What size should I order so it doesn't look ridiculous or ill-fitting?
2) Do you know any shops that carry plus-size maternity clothes that won't break the bank? Next has maternity up to a 22, but I'm worried I won't even be able to button the tops. Has anyone actually tried their maternity line?

That DP dress finally arrived last week—just haven't had a second to actually try it on yet. It’s not painfully short, but then again, it doesn't hang quite as long on me as it does on my aunt. It's a manageable kind of "short."
As for everything else—it’s lovely. A bit unconventional, exactly what I was hunting for. 😍
______

Today I finally pulled the trigger on something from the ASOS Curve collection. I know the Curve sizing runs larger and they use a flatter cut than the "standard" line, but ever since this jacket popped up, I haven't been able to think about anything else 🤣. Plus, the material looks like that flatter cut and slightly oversized fit won't be such an issue—at least, I hope not.

Anyway, by the time they put it on sale, the UK 18 was already snatched up, and honestly, I wasn't about to pay full price 😬. One finally popped up today (now that it's marked down), so being lucky, I scrambled to get my card ready immediately. 😳

Did you snag it this weekend while it was 25% off? What did it end up costing you?

Yeah, I finally grabbed it for the weekend—along with the code. $50.

Scott Howard74, those pants look awesome. 🙂
________

I am honestly obsessed with this DP dress. I’ve been hunting for a long black maxi for ages—something totally basic and casual, but with just one little interesting twist.

I love how this back cutout looks 😍; it's closed enough that I can actually wear my padded bra underneath 🤣. That is always my struggle with summer dresses—those tiny spaghetti straps just don't work with a standard bra, or—*good grief*—trying to go strapless.

So happy with this find. 😍

It won't be floor-length like the lady in the photo—typical for DP stuff—but it hits all the right spots, so I'll live with that. 🙂
________

Btw, my leather jacket finally arrived. Just like I thought, it looks a hundred times better in person than in the pictures. 😍 I don't have a second to snap a photo right now, but I'll get to it in a few days. 🙂

For those of us with big feet and a thing for masculine footwear 😬 😍: http://www.asos.com/search/-Chatham?hrd=1&q=+Chatham

They’re real leather—plus, the reviews on Amazon are solid. A UK size 7 should be about a 41 in US terms.

Asos actually has a 10% discount running right now if you use code 10XTRA. With that, these red and green ones are basically $54.

rustygull21 said:Hey there, lovely ladies,
I’ve been scrolling through these threads and it seems like most of you end up ordering your plus-size clothes online. But honestly, wouldn't it be so much better if there was actually a specialized boutique—somewhere that curates larger sizes from all the different brands under one roof? Just so we could actually try things on, feel the fabric, and if it fits right, grab it on the spot without the guessing game. I’ve been mulling over the idea of opening a shop like that in a major US city, maybe somewhere like Chicago or Philly... what do you all think? Would I even be able to make a living at it...

The issue with those kinds of shops is they can't cater to everyone—we're all spread out everywhere. 😉 Plus, we aren't all looking for the same style (it varies so much based on body type, personal taste, or even just age).

Your question is a bit too broad, though. "Curvy" isn't really a specific enough target audience. It’s kind of like asking if you could open a store for "normal people." 🤷

There are tons of online boutiques for curvier women, but I don't look at them much—honestly, I'm just not their target demographic (I actually feel bad for some of them, like Pepperberry, since they cut their clothes for someone about 5'5", and I'm 5'11"; the proportions just don't work for me).

If someone opened something similar to eShakti, where dresses could be tailored to your specific height and proportions—now *that* would definitely be a hit. 🙂

Jeremy Cox49 said:Thanks, nimbleheron47! 😍 Honestly, looking forward to hunting for gems together—fingers crossed this thread doesn't die out too soon.

How do you even navigate eBay without losing your mind? Do you filter by size? And any hacks for shipping? I once bought an Evans jacket from some woman over in the UK and the shipping ended up being more than $33, when the jacket itself was only about $13. 🙂

I just type "US16" or "US18" directly into the search bar—no spaces—or I use both sizes using the "OR" feature in advanced search so the system catches them. Then, I use the left column to filter for women's clothing specifically shipped from the US, and I set the top right to sort by price + shipping, lowest to highest. It makes it way easier to find sellers willing to ship for a reasonable rate. That’s actually how I found this jacket—it didn't pop up in my initial search, but I noticed a seller had great shipping rates, so I checked their feedback and what else they were selling.

I try to check in maybe once every couple of weeks, add interesting auctions to my watchlist, and if nobody seems to be bidding or things get quiet, well, I just deal with it. 🙂

I haven't actually spent much time browsing eBay lately—just that one skirt, which I honestly didn't think anyone would bid on, and now this jacket because nothing else is cheaper 🙂 (I wasn't expecting astronomical prices since the photos weren't great; those kinds of auctions usually end with lower bids anyway).

It's not that I enjoy stalking eBay that much, but man, you really can find amazing stuff for next to nothing. 🙂 You just need enough motivation to actually do the digging. 😬

With shipping included, this jacket ended up being $63, and $67 was pretty much my psychological limit. 😬

Jeremy Cox49, glad you joined the thread! 😍

Glad you found those links useful 🙂 and that your orders arrived okay. Thanks for the Lands' End review, too—pretty sure you're the first person here to try them, and it's great news that the quality holds up (their stuff is cute, by the way 😍). Now the rest of us can finally start clearing out our shopping carts. 🤣

As for selling things, I think you’ll have better luck getting eyes on your items in this thread since the target audience is right here, though I'm not sure if the moderators allow it. Might be best to just shoot one of them a DM and ask if posting clothes for sale is cool here? 🤷

______

Just a quick update from me. 🙂 I mentioned before that I was hunting for a leather jacket (I thought I'd just stick to faux leather again), but I haven't found anything I actually like. Anyway, I ended up snagging a real leather jacket on eBay for like $15. 😍 It's basically brand new. Some lady in the Midwest lost some weight and was clearing out her closet. 🤣 I think it'll be nice, but I'll post photos once it gets here. Her pictures were pretty terrible—probably why there wasn't much competition on the bid. We'll see.

Between those knee-high boots everyone was talking about and everything else, I've pretty much got what I need. Except for snow boots. My cobbler said he could fix my current pair since they've been leaking, so I'll try that first—the prices for new ones online are just ridiculous right now. 😬

Linda Johnson15, I already linked that site—those dresses are absolutely gorgeous 😍, but they only ship to the States 😢. Maybe I'll wait for a special occasion and see if I can charm someone into bringing them back for me—they really do have the cutest stuff, plus they do custom sizing 👍.

They arrived yesterday. Honestly—super happy with how they fit. Total win. 🙂

Also, I totally forgot to mention what the mailman dropped off today. 😬

Was messing around on eBay and—surprise, surprise—nobody else even bothered to bid. Snagged it for just $0.99. 🤣 Honestly, I wasn't expecting much, just a mindless little bid through the app. It’s brand new with the tags still on, so I didn't think I'd actually end up winning it solo.

image

It's a US size 18 and runs a bit wide, but it works out fine if I just pull it down over my hips. It fits my figure nicely, and the length is exactly what I was looking for. Might take it to a tailor to get it taken in—we'll see how much I grow by the time the warmer weather hits.

That bit at the bottom is all held together with thick white thread 😍. Well, there you have it—now I’ve got something floral in my closet too. 🤣

Charles Gomez4 said:My bad, didn't finish explaining—it's a jumpsuit, everything is one piece 😬 It has a slightly deeper V-cut on the back.

With high-waisted pants, it’s either a total disaster or you look like you lost 10 kg. At least you kept your money. 😁

It's not even the high waist—that actually looks fine on me. It’s those wide legs. I feel like I’m dragging half of downtown behind me. 🤣 Every single pair I try on. I think it's because of my hips; the fabric just swallows my legs and makes me look like two giant marshmallows. 😂

but I have to wait for some kind of sale, otherwise I'll be starving if I keep this up🤣

They're gorgeous. 😍 Luckily, wide-leg pants aren't really my thing. I tried some on at Nordstrom the other day that looked like they magically dropped my friend ten pounds just by how well they fit her (we have the same build, but our shapes are totally different). On me? 🤣. Just... 😲. Yeah, exactly. 🙂

I actually just went in for socks, tights, and maybe some snow boots for the winter. But these pants looked so good on her that I was almost ready to buy them if they promised to shed ten pounds off me too. Instead, they just made me look... well, heavier. 😬

Kevin James4 said:So, I’m about 5'4" and weighing somewhere around 130 pounds, and honestly, I don't know if you'd call me "curvy" or whatever, but let's just say I definitely have thighs, hips, and visible calves—but thank Jesus, I actually have a waist! 😍 But here’s the thing: after spending years wandering through malls, I’ve finally realized that current fashion trends basically label me as "PLUS SIZE," so I have to ask—is there anyone else out there who absolutely loves comfy clothes but refuses to look like a giant, shapeless blob of wool and cotton on top? I don't know if you guys get what I mean, but I am seriously over how everything in stores is designed to hide the upper body under these massive, boxy, knee-length sweaters that just swallow you whole ☕ Where on earth can I find decent sweaters that actually drape nicely and fit a real human shape instead of looking like a literal potato sack? 😕

I totally feel you. Last year, I picked up some great sweaters at the Tanger Outlets (they used to be closer to the outskirts, but they moved recently). They had plenty of affordable winter tops—mostly under $33—but the higher-quality sweaters were around $200-$83. They've lasted the whole winter and still look brand new. Honestly, I'm really happy with them. They aren't baggy either—I avoid the oversized stuff because it just makes me look wider and hides the waist, which, given my height, is the one thing that actually gives me a shape.

I've also grabbed quite a few nice tops over at Nordstrom.

And way back when, I used to use La Redoute—all my sweaters are still in great shape even after nearly a decade (though I haven't ordered from them in a while). Even if they weren't the cheapest things out there, they were definitely worth the money.

Everything else lately feels like fast fashion—places like H&M and those similar shops—so I've been avoiding them lately.

Maybe try shopping online? We've talked about online stores quite a bit on this thread. Personally, I struggle with buying tops online because of the gap between my bust and my waist—I really need to try things on since my wardrobe ranges from a size 4 to a size 12. 🤣 If you aren't as heavily built as I am, you probably won't have as much trouble finding a good fit that way. 😉 It's usually cheaper, too. ASOS offers a pretty good balance of price and quality (especially their outlet section). Plus, they have petite versions, which might be perfect for you since you mentioned your height.

Peter Gray2 said:Hey everyone, where can I pick up some decent toeless tights? I heard they might have some at Nama, but I’d love to get some firsthand advice if you guys know where the good 🙂
are.

They actually had some at Walmart recently for $8.25. Personally, I think they're great—finally found a size that actually fits my height properly.

I spotted them at the Victoria's Secret outlet too, so they probably have them in a regular store somewhere. And yeah, they really are super comfy. 🙂 They were about 19 and $9.75, though I can't remember the exact price off the top of my head. They definitely aren't more than that.
Fashion for curvy girls in Fashion ·
Just a quick heads-up—over at Calzedonia (the Roses outlet), they’ve got those thick tights with built-in panties (the cashmere ones and the really heavy microfiber types) in various dark shades—brown, charcoal, navy, black... even some off-white if that's your thing 🙂. They actually have size 5 in stock , which is great because they don't always carry it, and we taller girls usually struggle when we try to squeeze into the shorter styles $6.25. Just thought I'd mention it
. As for the basic sheer tights—they only have skin tones and some navy polka dots in that size, so they'll arrive $4.00.

They also have some really nice men's socks (striped patterns and all that—purple, red, green, you name it). Since I'm obsessed with footwear, I always end up grabbing a bag from the men's section 🙂.

Underwear—honestly, I didn't pick up a single thing; everything was just too "out there." Clearly, I'm way too old-school for these modern trends 🤣.

Oh, and at Liscì, they have plenty of panties in sizes 44 and 46 for $3.00 and $6.25. I wasn't particularly lucky, though—their 44 is actually quite large on me (not that I have much of a backside 😢). And whenever I actually needed those specific sizes before, they were never on sale like this 🙂.

Regarding large bras (and I mean actual large cups here), they only had one 75G. Everything else was mostly D cups and below
.
