They're waterproof—though the lady at the shop mentioned it’d be a good idea to take them to a cobbler to get them treated with something. She didn't specify exactly what, but any pro will know the drill; it's mostly because since they're brushed leather, you don't want them scuffing up too fast.

Here's the shop: http://www.roses-fashion-outlet.com/Brands/yellow-cab/.

I know there are some seasoned pros here who could weigh in on this.

At Rose's, they’ve still got these similar ones left—basically just the plainest versions without any extra bells and whistles, if you know what I mean; just the most classic styles possible. They're labeled #41, though honestly, they're more like #42, maybe around $117.
Personally, I'm looking for the larger sizes. 😢 There are pink ones in the 40 and 41 range (which is really more like 41 and 42), but pink just isn't my vibe. I think there might be some white ones left, too. So yeah, everything in the larger numbers.

Dana Wilson said:That first link? It’ll handle the wet stuff just fine, though maybe not great on ice 🙂 and look, I’m basically a pro at slipping and sliding, so I only trust those rubberized Jon Boots—they're a total safe bet 🙂
Duo’s got such low-profile shoes that my Amex card practically showed up at my door and dragged me off in a totally random direction 🙂
But man, those last boots are very nice! 😍

Still on maternity leave, so don't tempt me... for now, I'm just here to lurk and read what you guys have to say. That should last until spring, and by then, I'm planning on getting back into a smaller circle myself 🤣

Those first ones just sold in my number. 🤣It’s always the same with me—I just let things sit for a while when I see something I like. I'm really not one for impulse buys—unless it's actual love at first sight, of course. I actually just picked up something from ASOS recently... Those little boots. Found one pair left in my size for those nicer trousers—grabbed them immediately. We'll see when they actually show up, but they should be good. I’m a fan of that more masculine cut. 😁 Shoes... anyway, I ended up deciding they weren't really for me. 😬Wait, I think you might have missed the actual post content here—just a username? If there was something you wanted me to rewrite, just drop it in. I'm ready when you are.

So, I’ve got these great pair of Marches—knee-high boots, actually—that I picked up at one of those clearance sales over by the old factory or somewhere like that about seven years ago. They were a total steal. Honestly, they’ve served me pretty well—no broken ankles or nasty falls—but my right one finally gave up the ghost and leaked. They still look fantastic, too—seriously, for how much mileage they've seen, they're in amazing shape—and they hold up fine in the rain, but once I step into that nasty slush? Yeah, they really show their age. 😢 I should probably build them a monument—honestly, I’ve never owned a pair of boots this durable. Even after all this time, they look like I picked them up at the mall just a few months ago. I’ll definitely be wearing them for several more years—no doubt about that—they're warm and they look great on, but for those really rough, "crisis" days? They've officially retired from that job. 😢

Like this. I saw these on a massive sale recently—around $15—but there were only about eight pairs left. According to the reviews, they’re basically the real deal. While I was sitting there debating whether or not to pull the trigger, they sold out—obviously elsewhere they're double the price. Honestly, now I'm kicking myself for not just grabbing my credit card immediately and prepping some thick socks. I really thought these would be the ultimate best friend for my feet during this unpredictable snowy weather. But hey, I guess they just weren't meant to be. 😬 I think I was just being indecisive—they were all somehow... too much. 🤣 Even if they are good—and I don't doubt that for a second.

Charles Gomez4 said:Not really, they're just plain black trousers. 🙂Soft, sure, but there's zero stretch.

Woohoo! 😍

I think I’ve officially finished my manic spree of posting clothing finds in this thread. 🤣

If I happen to stumble upon a decent blazer, maybe a faux leather jacket—nothing too "biker," mind you—or if I need to find some affordable boots that actually look like real boots and won't slide all over the snow, they'll be going straight onto my list. *Seriously, even growing up in the suburbs didn't teach me how to walk like a normal human being on this awful ice and slush.*😳*
Maybe these? What do you guys think? Something a bit more neutral and chunky—something that pairs well with long cotton skirts and a basic look. *I'm obsessed with flowy long skirts.* These soles look like a total slip hazard to me 😂. Just keep in mind, I am incredibly clumsy. 🙂

I'll probably grab some proper boots from Nordstrom in a few months, but that'll have to wait—my budget suddenly vanished thanks to a new couch. 🙂 I'm really digging these😬 though, even if there are at least 3 or 4 other pairs I'd buy right this second.

Charles Gomez4 said:I've got those pants too, you won't regret it. 🙂

Are they too stretchy? That was my only real hesitation—I didn't bother checking the specs, but I saw they have 7% elastane. Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of those classic black stretchy leggings; I always feel like non-stretch ones look better on me. But, hey, for the price I paid on Code, you really can't complain. 🙂 So, I gave them a shot.
Fashion for curvy girls in Fashion ·
Btw, they had the long version of these pants in every size overnight—now the long version is gone, and that 7AC343420170 code for 20% off isn't working either (I already used mine tonight).

Asos is acting up again 😲.
Fashion for curvy girls in Fashion ·
So, I just ordered these from ASOS. They actually have a huge selection—these classic black ones looked the closest to what I usually pick up. I'll let you guys know if they're actually any good once they arrive. 🙂

Linda Johnson15, I already linked that site—those dresses are absolutely gorgeous 😍, but they only ship to the States 😢. Maybe I'll wait for a special occasion and see if I can charm someone into bringing them back for me—they really do have the cutest stuff, plus they do custom sizing 👍.

I've got a small chest—nothing much going on there. 🙂 Always the same story. 🙂

To me, this dress really gives off those fancy bracelet vibes, but you know... if you aren't wearing one. Some killer, statement earrings would look great too. Just—do yourself a favor and put your hair up. 🙂

Charles Gomez4 said:Obsessed with my NEW dress! It just arrived via FedEx this morning, even though I only ordered it two days ago. The fit is perfect, length is spot on, and the fabric feels high-end. The lining is incredible—honestly, it’s like the quality you'd find in a custom DiCaprio suit.

Just a heads up, I grabbed the Tall version. It's designed for anyone 5'10" and up.

That sounds awesome! Any chance you could measure it around the bust (or maybe just tell me how the fit is there—is it tight?)—and also the waist, though that's less critical for me, just want to make sure it isn't super baggy. I really love the look; it seems perfect for more formal events.

Also, where does the length hit on you?

Thanks! 😍

If anyone’s interested in this dress, just let me know.

It's a US size 18—they actually sent me this by mistake instead of those skirts in the longer green version. Yeah, basically the same thing. 😬

Tried it on myself—it's a bit drafty under the arms and around the waist, though the hips feel fine. It hangs a little longer on me than it does on my aunt in the photo, but honestly, that's probably just because it's too big for me and there's extra fabric bunching at the bottom (even that gap under the arm feels low).

I’d say it would be perfect for someone who wears a US 22 (if they like a slightly loose fit for this tight style) or maybe a 24/26 if they want that true bodycon look.

It’s got plenty of stretch, though.
Fashion for curvy girls in Fashion ·
Yeah, it's blatant—pretty sure we can all agree on that. Case closed.

Mind you, it’s not exactly a rare occurrence. My husband is 6'7" and deals with even more clothing struggles than I do. People constantly call him heavier even though he looks totally average (I guess if you're that tall, society expects you to be stick-thin just to look "normal"). All he ever hears is, "Oh, we don't carry that," or "We don't have those sizes in stock." And honestly? Every suit we stumble upon in his size looks like it would go viral on YouTube if I posted a video showing how they fit him 🤣—they're practically cut for people with much wider builds. We actually struggle more finding stuff for him than for myself. 🙂 Btw, if anyone knows where to find jeans with a 36 or—fingers crossed!—a 38 inseam, let me know. 😉

But, truthfully, nobody ever makes annoying comments about his body type. 😬 Probably because "real men" are allowed to be built a little larger. 🤣 *Typical old-school mindset.*

_________

Anyway, since we're all here looking out for one another 😉, if you happen to spot some leather gloves in wild colors (turquoise, deep purple, etc.), please remember to tell me where you saw them. Much love. :*

Kyle Bishop65 said:Look, at the end of the day, this whole thing is really just about how you view yourselves and whether you’ve actually made peace with your own reflection. Don't get me wrong—don't take this the wrong way—I'm fat too. But if you were actually okay with your body, these kinds of comments wouldn't sting nearly as much as they do. It reminds me of that show *The Biggest Loser*, where you see these contestants breaking down in tears because their trainer gives them a hard time for not pushing themselves hard enough. And the trainer is doing it to help them, right? But then one girl starts sobbing and says, "That hurts even more than someone calling me fat to my face." Well, what exactly are you doing on a weight-loss competition if you aren't overweight?! I'm not trying to be a jerk or insult anyone here, I really am not, but I genuinely don't get why it's such an issue to just acknowledge the obvious. Why does it bother you so much when other people notice the very same thing you already know about yourself? Is it really better to have people smiling at you and throwing out fake compliments like they're being hypocrites? Or is there some other catch I'm missing? Honestly, I'm curious...

Look, even if I weighed 330 lbs—which I don't—it's her job to be professional and give me what I asked for. Whether I'm 90 lbs or 330 lbs, it’s totally inappropriate for her to comment on my body parts. That's the actual issue here, not how anyone chooses to carry themselves. Her stupidity didn't hurt my feelings; it just annoyed me because that kind of behavior is unacceptable, regardless of whether I'm a size 2 or a size 16. Honestly, it would be just as messed up if she told a thin woman, "Who's to blame that you haven't grown any boobs?" It’s even funnier because the person making the statement is a bit 😁 curvy herself.
Basically, I was in shock... both at the first store and the second. Luckily, 😬 they were right next to each other, which gave me enough time to decide I wasn't going to waste any more time in places like that.

Can someone please explain why we’re such masochists—why we insist on hunting through stores despite everything? 🙂

As you guys probably figured out—I'm basically scouring shops because I have absolutely nothing left to wear. Last time I checked this thread, I was buying stuff way less serious than what I need right now. Everything I've worn for the last two or three years is suddenly huge on me—and even if it did fit, it's pretty much worn out. The only things that still work are my old coats 😍 and honestly, I'm just glad I could dig them out of storage.

First store. A woman grabs the clothes I was looking at right out of my hands and tells me they'll be too big for me—then hands me something that looks like a size 12 max. I mean, thanks for the "compliment," I guess, but I think I know my own size. 🤣 So, I leave.

Second store. They actually have what I'm looking for, but only in a larger size. Fine, I'll try it on—it's not like I'm picky about numbers—maybe it'll work. It didn't. The clerk's comment: Well, at least it fits. 🙂 So, apparently, she thinks I'm massive and that I should be grateful I can even squeeze into anything at all. 🤣 🤣 🤣 After I finish struggling with it, comes the kicker: Ma'am, there's nothing I can do when you've put on that much weight in your hips. You're lucky your waist stayed normal.

🙂 😕

_________

Anyway, has anyone ordered more classic or formal pieces from ASOS lately? Like tailored trousers, dressier skirts, and stuff like that... I'm not going to gamble with Banana Republic since I don't really fit their typical demographic.

Dana Wilson said:nimbleheron47, how do those pants look on the butt? 😁

Charles Gomez4, what size dress did you grab?

Look, I’ll be honest—I’ve got zero curves. My backside is as flat as the plains in Kansas. 😢

William Rivera13 said:nimbleheron47, those trousers are absolutely stunning... I find myself wearing nothing but this specific cut all summer long, and the sense of comfort they provide is truly wonderful. 🙂 As autumn approaches, I am thinking of finding some in deeper shades, perhaps a dark petrol green or a classic black...

If you track down anything like that, drop a link here. I'm buying immediately. 🙂

P.S.
There was one last thing left at the clearance rack—a woven skirt—but only in a size 14. I tried it on (hope dies last, right? 🤣), but it just didn't sit right, even when I pulled it lower on my hips 😢. Everything else was either floral or those soft pastels—and since I mostly stick to black or loud, bright colors 😂, none of it really felt like my vibe.

I did spot something like this, though (it was the very last one left):
image $73 (you can find it on eBay for about $50 plus shipping 😍)

There were a few pretty dresses too—honestly, one with flowers 😲 near the hem was gorgeous—but they were cut for someone with more of an apple shape, or at least someone whose bust-waist-hip ratio isn't quite so extreme. They had plenty of sizes available, though.
Fashion for curvy girls in Fashion ·
Dana Wilson said:hey, could you just measure the waist width (just one side, totally straight) on them 🙂
thanks 😉

Size 44 is about 17-18 inches. 🙂

I saw they had size 46 in plenty of colors (tried those too), and while I didn't look too closely at the 48s, they did have them in stock—they're organized by size on the rack, and there were some 48s right at the end.

I tried a few different 44s and 46s, and honestly, even within the same size, they aren't always identical. So, definitely try a few pairs until you find the ones that actually fit right. 😉
Fashion for curvy girls in Fashion ·
@Linda Johnson15, it would be a huge help if you could share your measurements or even just your body type—like pear, apple, hourglass, etc.—so the girls here can figure out if that dress is actually their vibe. Or, you could just measure the dress itself so we can compare it to stuff we already have in our closets. 😉

_____

So, I went shopping again. 😳 Found these pants at Target that fit me perfectly—the color is a bit loud (they have other options, but this one just works with my purple hair and pale skin), but the cut is honestly divine. They have various sizes left (I think 16 is the largest) and they’re only $56. The fabric feels high-quality and has some stretch to it. They taper a bit at the bottom, too. I really need to stick to this specific cut—I used to have these jeans from Gap in this exact style and they were hands down the best I’ve ever owned. Can't find them anywhere now. 😢
Anyway... these ones from Target don't come in "normal" colors; everything is super bright 🤣 so unless you're into neon, save your money and your gas.

Charles Gomez4 said:No problem, let me know if you end up ordering anything. 🙂

Kioko, the dress is gorgeous but that price tag... 🙂

Speaking of weddings, does this dress look too plain for a maid of honor? Picture it with a nice shrug, some jewelry, and killer heels 😁 It's for a winter wedding, so the fabric is thicker even if it doesn't look like it in the photo.

image

Looks good to me—even if it stays black (though I’d probably jazz it up with some colored accessories). The cut is 😍, and for those of us with a little more to love, 🙂 the cut makes all the difference.

I always lean toward simpler dresses paired with statement shoes. At the last wedding I went to, I actually dared to wear 5-inch heels 😲, which is something I wouldn't even treat myself to. *Total skyscraper move*

Not totally sure if this belongs here, but I wasn't sure where else to ask. Does anyone know an online shop or even a regular store that carries larger size hats without breaking the bank? (Looking for something like this: http://www.asos.com/Catarzi/Catarzi-...rt=-1&clr=Nero). I found some at H&M, but they were all one-size-fits-all, and unfortunately, they just don't fit my head! :/

H&M actually does vary sizes—they carry S, M, and L. There’s an L (size 58) still available in the Austrian site: http://www.hm.com/at/product/13811?article=13811-A

Our fellow forum member Good evil is actually putting together a group order for H&M in Austria right now, so maybe check with her if a 58 cm fits you okay. 😉

____

On another note—suddenly feeling like getting married again. 😬

It's gorgeous. 😍 Valentino, $2785 (size 46, US 14, UK 18). It’s just simple enough for my taste, lovely colors, and I’m guessing the quality is top-notch too.
