Thanks, Thomas Gonzalez15! 😍

It’s honestly great when someone takes the time to drop a structured little review like that.

As for me—I’ve officially given up on hunting for boots. I actually stumbled upon a few pairs at home while I was out grabbing shoes the other day, but yeah.

Searching for them is just too much effort. Honestly, the same goes for bras. Those are my two biggest headaches. 😠

Shopping online really brought me back to life. Though, I’ve been an online shopping addict for ages now—about six years, ever since PayPal finally became a thing here in the States—it’s just that I haven't really clicked "buy" on clothes before. Mostly because of customs issues; clothing doesn't always slide through those checks as easily as other stuff does.

Basically, I buy almost everything I need online these days. Once I start ordering groceries, I probably won't even step foot in a physical store again. 🤣

Even my furniture was picked out online—well, anything that wasn't custom-made. I think I've reached that point where I just don't have the energy to hunt for things the old-fashioned way anymore. If it isn't on the internet, I don't own it. Or rather, I don't bother looking for it. Usually, if I find a good description, price, and photo online, I'll still head down to the shop—but I don't browse. I just give them the item code, grab it, pay, and leave. 😬 😳

____

I'll definitely take a closer look at that Tamaris line. 😘

I’ll be starting one more project very soon... probably for the fall/winter season...
By the way, Voodoo Vixen actually has an American woman working in their office, so if you ever need to send them an inquiry or anything via email, you can totally just write in English and she'll get you sorted... 😬

Facts. 😍

I was checking out some cocktail dresses—they look pretty cool. Might just go ahead and grab one for myself. 😬 Honestly—with how rigid everything is around here—trying to shop online is just a massive headache. Total chaos.

I’d much rather go somewhere where I can actually test things out on the spot (I realize you can return stuff at Target, but still)—so if anyone has any suggestions, I’d appreciate it 🙂.

Maybe this thread might help you out. 😉

Jonathan Perez88 said:Hey everyone—does anyone know where I can pick up something like a compression undershirt or a bodysuit in the States? Not looking for a full-blown corset or anything—just something to smooth things out a bit 🤔. I did some searching and saw they have some at Target right now, but I have a feeling they’ll fly off the shelves, and honestly, I’d rather try it on first. I thought about checking Macy's, but besides that, I'm drawing a blank. I need this for next week, obviously 🤦. And I really don't want to drop more than $67 🙂 on it.

Subject: Quick question regarding my recent order Hey there, I was just looking over my records and realized I’m not quite sure about the status of some items from my last order. Could you guys take a quick look and let me know what’s still outstanding or where those missing pieces might be? Thanks for the help—much appreciated! 😉

Their sizing goes up to a 3x (US 18), and they ship over to the States!
I actually worked on a photoshoot for them, so I know the fit pretty well, and our models were all quite tall—ranging from about 5'7" to 5'10"... 😁

Thanks, Auntie. 😍

dustycyclist72 said:I was looking over the strap dimensions myself—and honestly, those measurements just don't sit right with me. They feel incredibly off. 🤷

Let me know once they arrive. 😉

The belts arrived yesterday. Here's the report:
  • Sizes 24-26—the first hole is at 102 cm, and the last one is at 115 cm.
  • Regarding numbers 20-22—this one doesn't have any holes because it’s a knit style, so it kind of "snags" into the weave—but it’s only about an inch shorter than the larger size.

I think I’ll finally bite the bullet next time—gonna order the Large from the regular line. 🤣. 😳

Oh, and do you think they would still look decent without a petticoat?

Also, I completely agree with you—ASOS seems obsessed with short dresses. Even when they offer a "longer length" option, the selection is laughably slim. Honestly, I think 14 inches is the longest anything goes for 🙄

I guess I could. 🙂

I usually go for those longer pencil skirts—back when I was 18, I stuck to the longer lengths too. I don't pay much attention to the "Curve" line, so I'm not even sure if they carry anything long in that specific range. But even then, most of what they call "midi" can actually be made a bit longer upon request—though honestly, even their "standard" lengths feel pretty long on me, at least the ones I own. As for the short skirts? I haven't seen a single one where they offer any extra length. And then they have the nerve to use models who are about 5'6"—on them, those skirts look tiny. If I tried wearing those, I’m pretty sure my underwear would be visible to everyone. 🤣 Honestly, their selection is just lacking—nothing even comes close to being knee-high. Well, my knee, anyway. 😁).

That’s really my only gripe with those British shops—they seem to cut everything for shorter women. For instance, Pepperberry There are some dresses that would look great on me—they’re even listed in their "Super Curvy" section specifically for us girls with bigger busts—but honestly, what's the point when their sizing is clearly designed for someone who's 5'5"? 😢I'm built like a mid-length skirt—everything is just too short for me. Even when I shop at places like Loft, the sleeves are always hitting too high and the pant legs are way too short. It’s basically a struggle everywhere I go. 😢Look, I don't mind their summer stuff too much—it’s alright—but I think I’ll struggle to find anything for my winter wardrobe there. ASOS actually hits the mark for me when it comes to midi skirts, trousers, or tees... they’re honestly pretty solid in that department. But those micro-minis? And the lack of actual skirt options? Not really my vibe. 👎

dustycyclist72 said:Oh gosh, you really shouldn't have posted this 🙂
—honestly, you already picked out a few pieces, including that one specific dress you've been hunting for a long, long time. 😍

Man, I almost went out and bought another one like two weeks ago for an upcoming wedding—even though I already have an outfit picked out for it. 🤣 I just got a little offended—honestly, caught me off guard for a second there. 😬 😳

I’m still thinking about those dresses—you know, the ones that are actually tailored, pretty, and a decent length? Not the "can see my underwear" kind you find on ASOS. I honestly don't get what their deal is with those micro-shorts—it's like they have some weird obsession with making everything impossibly short. 🙄).

My only real gripe is that these are cut for people with wider hips than chests—and honestly, I’m the exact opposite. 😢 I’m a little worried about the fit—if I buy based on these measurements, everything might end up floating on me, and then the bottom part turns out way too wide. But I think I'll grab one just to try it out. Hopefully, another wedding pops up soon. 😂 (Well, at least I have a "legitimate" photo now).

If you end up ordering some, let me know how they are. 😉

M&S should have exactly what you're after—at least according to their site, they've got some new stuff in stock. Though, who knows what actually made it to the local shelves here... 🤷

You might also get lucky at Peek & Cloppenburg.

I’ve been wearing these dresses for a little while now—honestly, I think they were practically made for an hourglass figure. I first stumbled upon them on eBay, but it looks like they're available right here too: http://www.lindybop.co.uk/index.asp. So, for anyone out there who's into that vintage look. 😉

They go up to a US size 18.

A Polish boutique specializing in prostrate lingerie: http://biubiu.pl/.

Found them through some UK-based blogs.

They carry sizes up to a 49-inch bust (46BBB).

Their selection seems a bit thin right now—though I noticed quite a few bloggers have been ordering from them lately. 🤷

Edit: Hopefully they'll expand the inventory soon—they seem pretty active over on Facebook.

link?

Maybe this helps: http://fatshionista.livejournal.com/4925933.html

Looks like some of the numbers are running a little long—and a little short, too.

They usually run a little large, if you ask me—and honestly, those bottoms? Way too short.

If you aren't (pre)tall, then they probably won't be short.

Honestly, you might be better off not discovering online shopping—once you see how much more flattering the selection is for our curves, you’ll be hooked. 🤣 I mean, half my wardrobe arrives via the mail carrier lately. 😳

I guess your options are either finding a local tailor or sticking to online stores. Around here, unfortunately, most of the stuff you find in shops is pretty basic and unflattering. 😢

Since I’m pretty much the new kid on the block here, I wasn't quite sure where to go with this, so I figured I'd just drop a question right here. If anyone happens to have an answer, of course...
So, I’m a size 32G and carrying some extra weight—currently sitting at a 50/52 in US sizes—and I need to find some formal wear. We're talking a dress or some kind of outfit for a wedding coming up in a few months. If anyone knows where I should look, preferably around Los Angeles, please let me know. I'm already crossing C&A and GjuroXL off my list because their "formal" selection is way too old for my taste.
THANKS

Honestly, if I were you, I'd check out some online options. You actually get to pick what looks good rather than just squeezing into whatever fits. 🤷

Kevin Brooks said:H&M actually carries larger sizes. You might have better luck there. It’s also worth checking out Peek & Cloppenburg—though I'm not entirely sure if they stock the bigger ranges.

I'm not really sure about their regular prices—I was just browsing the sale section yesterday—but even the biggest dresses and jackets were only around $48.😢

dustycyclist72 said:Listen, I just stumbled upon this new plus-size boutique😁

http://www.swakdesigns.com/

It’s an American brand—sizes run from 14 to 36, and they actually have a decent variety.
From what I can gather, they ship globally—which is a relief, given how much of a hassle finding specific fits can be.😁

Has anyone here actually ordered from them before? Any experiences to share?

I actually saw them mentioned on an Australian forum 🤣 (I was Googling plus-size shops). It seems like a lot of women order from there.

Personally, though, I try to avoid anything outside the States—I really don't have the energy to deal with customs. Plus, shipping on that site starts at $15 even for tiny orders. Which means you're looking at $25 plus $53 whatever customs fees pop up. 😢 Basically, even if you stay under the duty limit (I forget the exact number, honestly), you still end up paying sales tax and processing fees, shipping, and those weird postal handling charges. Anyway, those fixed costs usually hit around $30 ($25 maybe, $3.25 for the customs paperwork, $1.75 then delivery—at least that's how I remember the breakdown from someone else's post on here recently).

It’s probably only worth it if you place a big order to bring the cost per item down. For just one or two things... it ends up being way too expensive.

swiftnomad4 said:If I recall correctly, I used to order one size up from my usual US size.🤷
Lately, I've mostly been shopping at 3 Sisters, and I always go one size up there too.😁

So, turns out sizing is a total lie—I found one of their shirts in my closet, a 46/48, but when I actually tried it on, it felt more like a 44/46. And the crazy part? That’s exactly what the tag says. Just goes to show, you can't always trust the label. 😬).

By the way—if you’re ever over at the CC1 West mall, check out the Peek & Cloppenburg on the lower level. They’ve got these tees and sweaters in larger sizes at really decent prices—and honestly, they aren't total junk. There’s a huge variety of colors, too; you can find pretty much anything. Most of the bright ones are striped—because apparently, that's the big thing this year—but there's plenty of options. The biggest I spotted was a 3XL. The sizing feels pretty standard, though (I saw a lot of 44s, which fits me just fine), so there should be something for everyone if you don't mind digging through the piles—everything is just kind of heaped together. A good chunk of it—most of it, really—is marked down to $59. $26.

No worries. I’m counting on getting something that fits a 49-inch waist. 🤣 (Can't exactly talk about my actual waist size here, gotta stick to their website numbers, haha) We'll see how it goes. ☕

cosmicnomad6 said:I struggle with my hips and having a bit of a larger backside; it’s just how my body changed after gaining some weight. 😁 I tried on some old pants again to test things out, but I’ll definitely be following all those tips when I shop online. I think I'll stick to ASOS—their selection is honestly the best. 🙂
thanks!

Go for the ones with spandex first—that way you won't have to deal with returns if they're a tight fit. Honestly though, with your waistline, everything should probably be fine. 😉

Btw, I just ordered some belts from ASOS. It says the UK 22-24 size fits up to a 34-inch waist. 😲 That seems a little off to me—I can't really picture women wearing a UK 24 having only a 34-inch waist. Usually, a UK 24 has about 53-inch hips. Who actually has a 20-inch difference between their waist and hips?! 😲

Oh well, we'll see when they arrive. Given how hit-or-miss their sizing can be, maybe I'll end up using the belt twice just to get it to stay on. 🤣

cosmicnomad6 said:I agree! You're probably a 14–16 on top, but if it were me, I'd definitely grab an 18 for the bottom just to be safe, haha 😁

It’s going to be huge. 😬 Honestly, just stick to an ultra-narrow cut without any elastane—better to play it safe.

We’re about the same size—I usually grab a US 12. Those numbers they use are honestly massive, believe me. I much prefer wearing things a bit loose, too—not really my style to be squeezing into the smallest thing I can find.

I know it really comes down to your build—you know better than anyone where you carry your strength and what your specific trouble spots are. For me, it’s always been the hips and the length—even though my legs are definitely my strongest feature, they're just pretty evenly toned, if that makes sense? I don't even know how to describe it properly. 🤣I've basically lived on a bike my entire life—plus, I’ve just got that heavy-set build, you know? Big bones, the whole deal. It was actually kind of funny at my last checkup—my doctor took some scans and decided that, given my frame, my "ideal" weight is actually around 200 pounds. Just goes to show, genetics really do play a part. 😂So—basically, even though I’m clearly a big enough guy for it to be obvious from my profile—I can slide right into these UK16 pants without any trouble at all...

... no, I'm pretty sure that UK18 rating is going to be overkill for you. Unless—and I mean unless—you’re really only gaining weight in one specific spot and that's actually an issue for you. It's hard to say for sure, though, since I don't exactly know your build.

What'd you end up ordering? And did you actually manage to guess when it’ll show up? 😉

Do you guys follow any plus size bloggers? I assume there aren't many here in the States, or at least I haven't run into any.

Sometimes I find myself groveling through plus-size blogger feeds—just listing out what they end up picking up. Honestly? They’re way more interesting than your typical lifestyle bloggers. Plus, following them is basically how I scout out new shops that I eventually end up sharing here. 😬But... I haven't found a single one built like me—you know, someone I could actually stalk to see what they're wearing or where they shop—so it’s kind of demotivating to keep reading them properly.

They’re inspiring because so many of them actually carry their clothes—and themselves—with such grace. I love that part of it. But honestly? I’m just hoping to find one with a true hourglass figure—mostly so I can get some pointers on what cuts would actually work for me and where to shop for them. 😍

So, here I am... somewhere between the small category and the large one. Kind of like those items in a grocery store—right on the edge of being "standard" but leaning toward "bulk." A bit of a nobody, really. Honestly, though? I’d love to follow the ones who are also just floating in that middle ground. 🤣
