Period talk: Questions and advice in Women's Health ·
So, my period arrived yesterday, though it’s barely even there. It's just some light spotting, which is way different from my usual flow. I'm definitely not pregnant—I've already ruled that out completely. So, I guess it's just a hormonal imbalance. I'm not sure what comes next. I can't even call my OB-GYN until Monday to schedule an appointment, and then I probably won't be seen for another few weeks. I'm feeling pretty nervous right now and I've been crying a bit...
How dangerous is this, really? And is there much that can actually be done for treatment? I'm 27, and I've never even taken birth control pills before...
Pancreas issues and diseases... in Health ·
I guess there are several different types of pancreatic conditions... I wonder what specific symptoms they usually cause?
What causes fetishes? in Psychology ·
I was wondering about the origins of fetishes... how they actually start.

For instance, why might someone find arousal specifically in being the one in control, or conversely, in being submissive? Or why do certain objects or body parts, like shoes or feet, become such intense triggers? I'm curious about where that fixation comes from.

I'm looking for the root cause rather than just a list of specific kinks. Where does the psychological foundation lie? How do these things develop?

Does anyone have any book recommendations on this subject?

Amanda Morris3 said:To me, this doesn't sound quite like schizophrenia; it sounds more like an obsessive-compulsive personality disorder...

schizophrenia symptoms >
+ (positive) > hallucinations, delusions, disorganized speech, disorganized behavior
- (negative) > anhedonia, avolition, flat affect, alogia

Schizophrenia where positive symptoms predominate (like auditory hallucinations or persecutory delusions) generally has a better prognosis than schizophrenia dominated by negative symptoms (which can often mimic depression or cyclothymia, making a diagnosis much harder to pin down for a long time)

Thanks for the response, Amanda Morris3!

I looked up obsessive-compulsive personality disorder online, but I'm not sure if that's really it... I mean, the main symptom of that disorder seems to be living through rituals...

The person I was describing doesn't really have any special or unusual rituals; they're just an average person, I guess...

The only thing is; they definitely deal with fears (that's for sure, because those fears grab them all the time)

That person speaks in a disorganized way (meaning, when they say something to you, you can't make sense of it at all, and then they get upset because you didn't understand what they were thinking!) No one can understand when they explain things... it's almost like they're speaking in codes from their own little world, and nobody can decode their thoughts.

They are driven by intense jealousy... even toward their own children, and from that jealousy, a great rage grows...

Then they elevate themselves to this high pedestal; it's hard to say for sure, but they act like some higher being, above everyone else, something incredibly precious (which is why I might say schizophrenia)... the person imagines they are uniquely capable or successful and tries to belittle others. Objectively speaking, though, they aren't more capable than the average person. They might even be a bit weaker in terms of mental abilities.

As for whether they have hallucinations, I don't know; maybe they do, but then they stay silent about it... but that's possible, since they haven't slept well at night since they were young...

Hi everyone!

I guess—well, it feels like (and it’s not just me, my whole family feels it too)—that one family member might have schizophrenia... the issue is, they would never agree to see a doctor or even think anything is wrong. It makes life incredibly difficult for the rest of us!
It's pretty contradictory; they're convinced they're someone special and that they're the only ones who deserve anything... they create all sorts of issues and look for problems where none exist. They can take some tiny little thing and turn it into a massive crisis in their own head, making it feel like the worst thing in the world. It can honestly ruin the mood for days while they stay furious...
What are the symptoms of schizophrenia? What is typical or always present? Is there any way to help someone who refuses treatment?? Has anyone dealt with something similar?? How did you realize you were struggling, or how did you notice a family member, friend, or even a partner had schizophrenia??
help!🤷
How to gain weight? in Health ·
Maybe try eating some more varied meals! Like, mixing different types of food together...
For instance, potatoes and bread at once, meat alongside potatoes and pasta, or cheese and meat together... I guess you could even add sweets to your menu... just more variety (fats, sweets, high calorie, heavy carbs)

I suppose it might seem a bit silly for me to suggest this, since everyone's body works differently. If you're thin and—by your standards—not underweight, and you're healthy too (which I really hope you are), then there's probably no need to mess with your health...

But being thin... so what? Every person is their own unique case! I have a friend who is also incredibly thin, maybe even skin and bones, but he eats more than enough! His breakfast is basically what most people would call breakfast, lunch, and dinner all in one! He eats rich, heavy meals every day, but he doesn't gain weight! He just has a fast metabolism... and he actually struggled with complexes during his teenage years because he was so skinny. Now, he's actually happy about it! Maybe it would be better if you focused on building some muscle instead; you might feel better! Just train a little (don't overdo it here!) maybe play some soccer (to strengthen your legs) and do a few pushups or sit-ups a day, and that's it! You'll see!

My suggestion is, if you don't need to gain weight for health reasons, don't force your body to do something it can't! Since you're still a teenager, if you start forcing yourself to get heavier now, you could swing too far in the other direction (since your hormones are active right now!) and end up gaining serious weight that will be hard to lose later! Don't get fat if you don't have to! Just eat what your body needs, and don't overdo it!!!

Nancy Sullivan78 said:I’ve been dealing with some really strange symptoms lately... I mean, my vision gets blurry, and sometimes I just throw up out of nowhere (not on purpose, my body just rejects whatever I've eaten). I also seem to have a low-grade fever of about 100 degrees every couple of days, plus huge dark circles under my eyes. I just feel totally run down. I’m sleeping at least 8 hours, haven't touched alcohol in a month, drink at least 2 liters of water daily, try to eat healthy, and I'm not even stressed... This has been going on for about 2 months.

What could it be??!

Maybe pregnant?? Or if not, maybe a virus

Chris Allen40 said:I’ve happened to witness a few instances lately where young people have suddenly lost consciousness while riding the subway—I suspect the intense summer heat might be playing a role. If anyone here has personally experienced something similar, I would truly appreciate it if you could share whether there are any specific warning signs or physical sensations that occur just before it happens. I realize that everyone's body reacts differently, but I think knowing those early indicators could be incredibly helpful for all of us. Thank you.

I guess you just feel this wave of weakness. Your stomach feels a bit off, your knees get shaky, and then with the heat, you get these waves of sweat—like you can really feel every little heat stroke coming. Then, suddenly, black spots start appearing in your vision and things get blurry, and then bam! But it all starts with that weakness and the knees... maybe keep an eye on that!
