Pantana, St. Martin, Red Land (that beach near Divulje)... The shipyard idea sounds absolutely wild to me... Maybe a shopping mall (or even just the vibe of the cosmetics aisle at a Target or a Cosmos), Little Harbor, a hiking lodge up in Sućurac, or maybe visiting the Klis Fortress.. The old historic district of Trogir.. Honestly, Miami feels a bit repetitive and worn out sometimes... It might be worth driving out toward Omiš, though... You could check out the Radmanov mills, the old town, the historic village, or Little Harbor..
We ended up booking the standard menu at Castle.. As for the band, I honestly haven't the slightest clue who we're going to hire yet.. I've been looking through every photographer available in the Miami area, and I'm really torn between California and Julia's studio...
Oh my goodness, ladies, please just peel them off... I mean, what’s the worst that could happen if they lose their grip? Personally, I always take mine off right away because those things just don't fit my style at all. It would probably be better to tell people to be careful with whatever they're sticking on so they don't ruin the clothes, and then they can just remove them later. Or, if someone is truly obsessed with them, maybe they should just glue them straight to their forehead instead! 😁
frozentiger2, I actually reached out to Siniša again recently, but what I really need is to talk to someone he’s actually photographed before. It would be so helpful to see an entire wedding album rather than just a few highlight shots...
I also checked in with Lisjak, and honestly, his rates seem pretty reasonable... though, I guess if I could find someone he’s worked with who has a decent online portfolio, that would be ideal...
From what I've heard, Matić is charging about $1,500... and when you factor in another $1,000 for the camera gear... well, that's getting a bit steep for Matić...
As for the band... the Pink Panther isn't an option because they're just way too expensive... I really don't want to shell out more than $1,500 for music. I did manage to find a couple of rock bands that fit within that budget, though. But I was wondering—does anyone here have experience with DJs at weddings? Would you recommend going that route? It might actually be a pretty good alternative...
Which email address did you send that to? I was thinking maybe I should try sending him one too. I've been waiting on a response from Fox, but I haven't heard a single thing yet...
Around here, there’s this lovely tradition where people bring over all sorts of sweets a few days before the wedding ceremony. It doesn't even matter if they’re actually on the guest list—friends, neighbors, or distant relatives—they just show up with treats! The couple ends up with mountains of cookies, and then, of course, we usually have the brunch or reception on Sunday to keep the celebration going. As for the wedding guests themselves, I always say: let them help themselves! Honestly, having five or six courses followed by dessert at the reception is more than enough food. If they want to pack some leftovers to go, great; if not, well, maybe they'll just eat a little less next time! 😁 Those mass-produced, store-bought cookies often just sit there in huge quantities because, frankly, people aren't that big on them. I guess you shouldn't even bother stressing yourself out about those.
Gosh, what on earth is going on with Smith? There's no gallery updates, and I can't seem to get a hold of him. Does anyone know how I might reach him? 🤷 I've already managed to touch base with Papaja, people out in California, IN, and Sinclair... I even reached out to lisjak, so now I'm just missing Smith... And then it's just one studio after another... I feel like this process is going to be the death of me. 😁
Alright everyone, thanks so much for all the advice... Regarding Beyoncé, I have to admit I’m feeling a little skeptical. I’m pretty sure there are plenty of bands out there that rock way harder than they do... 😉
On another note—about the photographer. Does anyone on here know if that talented guy Siniša Srdanović has any work I could actually look at? I’ve read some really kind words about him here, but I can't seem to find a website, and his Facebook page only has about two photos posted, so...
I’ve actually been dreaming about finding those on eBay, but man, they aren't exactly cheap... I was thinking maybe we could try making a croquembouche shaped like a motorcycle, or even just a classic cake with a little figurine like that perched right on top. When it comes to the croquembouche, my biggest gripe is that people here in the States don't seem to appreciate it nearly as much as I do—it's honestly one of my absolute favorites. 🙄
Hey everyone, I could really use some help here... If anyone has any insight, I’d love to gather some intel before I dive headfirst into all the preparations:
I'm looking at bands like Bravo, Taxi, and Pink Panther—does anyone happen to know what their typical rates are? Also, would you happen to have recommendations for other groups that nail that classic rock sound, but maybe aren't quite as mainstream as those three? I'm looking for something just as talented, if not better.
Regarding photography: Fox, Smith, what are the going rates for someone like you? And as for recording, how do things look with AT&T, studios out in California, or similar places?
Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated... Thanks so much in advance! 😁

I want to hear from both patients and medical professionals—how satisfied are you all, honestly, with our healthcare system? And if you could change one thing, what would it be?
I was watching this segment on FOX the other day about the healthcare industry. They were out on the street interviewing people, asking if they were happy with how things are run, and almost everyone said yes. I don't know if I'm living in some parallel universe or if those people just rarely ever have to see a doctor. 🤷
Also, a question for the patients: how much does this whole new electronic medical record system worry you? Do you think your privacy is actually going to be compromised with them?
I suspect those folks aren't actually frequent hospital visitors... and frankly, they can go jump in a lake for that perspective... In my humble opinion, our hospitals, the insurance providers, and the entire healthcare system are a complete mess. I'm basing this on my own experience: 40 days spent admitted to the hospital (Mayo Clinic, San Francisco) and six months navigating various specialists... dealing with a mountain of paperwork, endless hours waiting in lines, $267 being unable to take sick leave because I didn't meet certain requirements (even though I spent $333 months paying for medications out of pocket!!!!), doctors who are clearly overworked and struggling to provide good care, and departments that seem to be in total disarray (not enough staff, many employees are pressured to work way beyond their pay grade, and the actual state of the facilities themselves). Then there's the issue of getting physical therapy; I had three major fractures, nerve damage in my leg, and back issues, yet an elderly woman with hip pain gets access without any trouble... I certainly wouldn't wish illness upon anyone in this country.

If you end up on Manhattan Island, maybe look for Holy Cross. As for the Coastal Cities, there’s a new spot called Castello just past the park in the Old Palace right by the water, or maybe Baltena—depends on what kind of vibe you're actually after.
I actually need a recommendation for a cake. I was thinking about hitting up the Mississippi Delta, but they really let me down with their service. 🤷
Well, let me try to correct you there. The restaurant is actually called the Old Palace... and honestly, the food there is pretty great. 😉😉
Holy Cross does play, though I suppose it's hard to say if they'd be up for performing for such a small group in a venue like that... it might not really be worth it for them. As for Baltena, I'm not so sure; being outdoors by the ocean is lovely, but I wonder if they'd even allow music after midnight or if they'd be open to that kind of arrangement at all.🤷
David King72 said:So, look... I was there last year and they were fine by me, nothing to write home about, but nothing bad either. Does the location have to be right by the coast in the San Francisco Bay Area for it to count?
I suppose it just matters that the location is somewhere nice... though ideally, it would be in the San Francisco Bay Area. I'd rather not drive all the way out to Santa Barbara for no reason, especially since you have to drive back after having a few drinks. Motoron. 😉
Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't think that's going to work for us. Honestly, the food there has been absolutely incredible for quite some time now... 😉
I originally posted this question over on the Elopements board, but I figured asking here might actually net me some more helpful responses...
Ladies (and guys, if any of you are lurking), I could really use some advice.. I'm looking for the perfect spot for an elopement, maybe around 40 to 50 guests, somewhere in the San Francisco Bay Area. For the ceremony, we’d love to do something religious—perhaps at a Stafilics chapel (maybe near Our Lady of Loreto, the biblical garden, or a local parish church), or even something in Savannah near the waterfront cathedral. We need a beautiful location, either right by the water or with a stunning view, that has enough space for a live band and a dance floor (doesn't matter if it's indoors or outdoors). I'm not really looking for a traditional banquet hall; I'd much prefer a charming little restaurant or a cozy bistro. It's going to be a biker-themed wedding. Does anyone have any suggestions? We are still debating whether to go with this smaller group or scale up to a larger wedding (around 150 people max). Either way, we are aiming for late May or early June 2012...
