So, here's the deal: I’m getting married next spring in Miami. We're keeping it pretty low-key, just a small gathering of about 30 people. We really want to make it feel special, you know? Somewhere gorgeous, tucked away in nature—maybe a nice restaurant or a terrace with an incredible view... but honestly, my brain is totally blank right now. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any specific restaurants or cool spots that might fit the vibe?

For a wedding like that, I think the Palace would be ideal. They have a great view, a beautiful terrace, and the food is excellent...

We picked him because we heard nothing but glowing reviews :-) We already had our initial meeting, and honestly, the guy seems super chill and totally down-to-earth. My main question is, do you guys usually have a rehearsal with the priest before the actual wedding day? I’m just trying to figure out if we'll know exactly how the ceremony flows—like what to say, where to stand, all that jazz... haha... even though he did mention it would be a quick 30 minutes max.

And I'm doing this in May.🙂 Well, during that first meeting, he really seemed great—reasonable, not making things unnecessarily complicated. He told us to check back in after Easter to finalize everything, saying we shouldn't worry about a thing. The main thing was making sure we didn't forget the pre-cana course, which we actually finished back in February. I'm looking forward to it; he seems like an excellent choice.🙂

Ladies, I need some intel on Bakery Delight in Columbus. I stumbled upon some posts from 2009 that don't look particularly promising, so I'm wondering if anyone has more recent info? Thanks. 🙂

I am completely new to all of this. I don't have any firsthand experience from friends who have gone through the process or anything like that. 🙂

I’m thinking about organizing a party for next September, but I can't help wondering—am I already running behind? 😁 How much time do I actually have left 🙂 to hunt down the perfect venue?

My biggest headache right now is the location. I’d love to host it outdoors, but lately, the weather has become such a total gamble, hasn't it?

Also, how reliable is the "Wedding with Style" website? My mom just sent it over to me, and I'm trying to figure out if it truly covers everything—like a full list of venues and bands... I'll probably browse through it and then come back to this forum with a bunch of silly questions, haha!

It depends on the scale of your wedding. If you are expecting a massive crowd and need somewhere like Dolis, you should probably start looking immediately. They are pretty popular, and I know they can book up a year in advance. You mentioned the coast... maybe Grašo? Or Pirate? I went with Pirate, but my guest list is relatively small, so there isn't much room for a huge crowd. Grašo is charging roughly $50, and if it rains, they move everyone inside for a buffet style setup, which was an immediate dealbreaker for me.

You're looking for a lifetime memory, people!

Look, it’s not about finding the absolute cheapest option—that would be having my cousin snap some photos on his basic DSLR. I’m just saying there should be a middle ground. It shouldn't all be about putting on a massive show just to impress the neighbors or prove you have money. 🙂 Sure, memories last a lifetime, but the specific style of photography I actually want isn't something those big-name, overpriced pros offer, regardless of what they charge. And hey, good for them; everyone has the right to price their work however they see fit. It's on me whether I hire them or not. Plus, I suspect that once we’re old and gray, we might remember our travels more than some DVD. But, that's just me. And the dress is mine, so that's a memory too. 🙂

Regarding photographers from Texas, I know a few cases where they are way cheaper. Their full packages can go for around $1,200, whereas everywhere I’ve looked here, I haven't seen a single quote under $1,500. Beep is great, I guess, but their base package is roughly $1,700. In the end, I decided to split the photography and video because I don't really need the filming part, and my photographer charges me $700 and does exactly what I ask. It's all a matter of preference, I suppose, but if I have any money left over, I'd rather spend it on a trip than blow it on these ridiculous, honestly senseless amounts.

Chris Baker7 said:Hey there! Does anyone know the vibe at Gras? I'm trying to figure out how many people can actually fit in there without it feeling way too cramped—like, what's the actual chair count? It doesn't really matter to me if half the crowd (mostly older folks) is inside while the younger crowd hangs out outside, provided there's a glass partition so it doesn't feel like two separate pirates fighting for space. Anyway, since the summer pirate festival is happening next year, I wanted to see if anyone has any firsthand experience. Thanks!

I went there once to inquire about hosting my own pirate party for 100 guests. The waiter claimed they could realistically handle about 150, though I find that hard to believe. The space feels quite small to me, or maybe it was just my perception. That capacity issue bothered me, especially considering the weather; if it rains and you have people outside, everyone gets shoved indoors and forced into a buffet-style setup. The location is great and the service is solid, but for a large pirate party, the room seems way too tight. I ended up passing on them because of the price ($50 per person excluding wine or spirits), but if the cost isn't an issue for you, I suppose you should just grill them on the table layouts.
Does anyone have a recommendation for just a videographer? What kind of rates are we looking at roughly? We’ll probably end up picking our photographer based solely on their portfolio...

Elizabeth Barnes36 said:Hi there. I just got engaged and am planning a wedding for next spring or fall. The location would be San Francisco, with about 120-140 guests... I've been browsing the forum and my shortlist of venues includes Sky at $40; Pirate at $42; Ini Kastel at $34; Phoenix Dugopolje at $33; Poljud $87, Nirs at $36, and Aria at $40.... please correct me if I got any of those numbers wrong. What exactly is included in those prices—linens, drinks, dessert, lighting? Also, does it make sense to host it out in Castilla or Dugopolj if I'm staying in the city center? Thanks

I'm also looking around the city for a smaller reception, maybe around 100 people. What did they tell you about the drink situation at Pirate? Yesterday, the folks over at Graše told me the menu was $40, but once you add the drink package (excluding wine and spirits), it jumps to $47 per person.

So, I just got prescribed Augmentin for a two-week course. Does this antibiotic interfere with Belara? If anyone knows, please let me know, since I've heard antibiotics can reduce effectiveness... 😢

Got a serious case of diarrhea about ten hours after taking my Bela... The instructions mention what to do if it happens within four hours of the dose, so I guess maybe I'm safe. I'm planning on taking my regular dose tonight, but I suppose I should ask what you all think.
quietbison86 said:Has anyone else here dealt with this mess:
Okay, so I’ve gone through three packs of Bela, right? The first pack was totally fine—had that usual bleeding during the break, which is standard. But then the second and third packs were just... off. I started getting these weird brownish breakthrough bleeds during the second phase of my cycle. To be super specific—because details matter, obviously—around day 10 I’d get this dark discharge, then by days 16 and 17 it would get even darker, and by days 19 or 20, it looked exactly like the heavy stuff I usually see right before my period starts.
Then comes day 21, when I finally stop taking the pills, and everything just kind of tapers off. I don't even get a full flow for the next few days. Honestly, I think I just set a record because I haven't seen anything since Sunday when my break started, and it's already Wednesday! Though, if you ask me, I’m starting to feel those cramps like my period is actually about to hit.
Now I’m sitting here wondering if I should just go back to Dr. Miller or whatever. I’m heading to the coast at the end of the month and the last thing I want is for him to switch my prescription again, forcing me to deal with this constant, month-long bleeding nightmare.🙄
And another thing—I have no idea why my doctor kept insisting that Diane is the only prescription option out there when brands like Longest or Lynidette clearly exist. I swear, I had this gut feeling he was basically a walking advertisement for Bela. He pushed it on me as a substitute for Diane after I refused to take the latter, but it's painfully obvious that Bela is way too weak for what I need.🤷

I didn't get anything at all after my first pack of Bela. During the second pack, I did bleed, and it lasted two weeks—even though I took every pill right on schedule—before stopping. Now I've finished the third pack and I'm just waiting. My doctor told me it's perfectly normal, especially when you're starting something new, and that there's no reason to panic. Still, I'd prefer if my period would just 🙂
I'm not changing my meds because they're actually great. I haven't had any side effects. None at all (well, except for firmer breasts—every woman has her little perks). 😍

So, I finished my last pill from the pack last Tuesday, and I haven't started my period yet. I took a pregnancy test this morning and it was negative... My doctor says I should just start the next pack of birth control tomorrow, but I guess I'm wondering if anyone else has any thoughts on this.

One more thing. How much truth is there to that idea that the first cycle might still be somewhat questionable? I guess we’ve gotten a bit too relaxed... 😁

Thanks, Miladojkica🙂 In essence, the Ninurov pamphlet mentions that certain antibiotics might reduce effectiveness, but it’s buried way at the bottom. I suppose I shouldn't be unlucky enough to run into that. I was probably being foolish, taking the pills just to ease my mind.🙂 Oh well, que sera, sera. Life goes on.🙂

I suppose there’s a certain peculiar sort of melancholy in watching things fall apart, isn't there? Not the sudden, crashing sort of failure—that’s almost easier to process because at least it’s decisive. No, I mean the slow, rhythmic erosion of something you once thought was permanent. It reminds me of that old porch swing my grandfather used to keep in his backyard in Ohio; every summer, the chains would get a little looser, the wood a little more weathered, until one afternoon, without any warning at all, the whole thing just gave way under the weight of a particularly heavy breeze. I was thinking about that today while staring at the news, or rather, the endless stream of digital noise we call news. We spend so much energy trying to shore up these crumbling structures, whether they are political institutions or personal relationships, acting as if enough effort can somehow halt the inevitable decay. We patch the holes, we paint over the cracks, and we pretend the foundation isn't settling into the dirt. There’s a stubbornness to us, a refusal to acknowledge that some things are simply meant to transition from being "present" to being "memory." It’s exhausting, really. The constant vigilance required to maintain an illusion of stability. I find myself retreating more often lately—not out of weakness, mind you, but out of a desire for a quieter kind of truth. There is more honesty in a fallen tree than there is in a freshly manicured lawn, don't you think? One is true to its nature, while the other is merely performing for the neighbors. kaže:
If the instructions on the prescription don't explicitly tell you to scale back the dosage, then I'd say you're fine to proceed as usual. Honestly, if your doctor gave you the verbal okay to keep going at the current rate too, then there really isn't much to worry about. It’s funny how much weight we put on those little printed slips of paper, isn't it? I remember once being so neurotic about a bottle of aspirin that I practically called my physician just to confirm the milligram count, only to realize I was overthinking the simplest thing in the world. But really, if the paperwork is clear and the medical professional is on board, you should feel confident moving forward.
Honestly, even they don't seem to have a clue half the time, so I find myself constantly adjusting my own expectations to match whatever nonsense they’ve put on paper. 😁

I was just sitting here, minding my own business, when I decided to take a quick peek at one of those online drug interaction checkers—you know, the ones where you plug everything in and hope for the best—and well, this is what it came up with.

It’s funny how much we tend to overlook the sheer complexity of how different chemical compounds dance together once they hit the bloodstream, isn't it? You look at something like nitrofurantoin—that reliable old workhorse we often turn to for urinary tract infections—and then you pair it with ethinylestradiol, which is essentially the backbone of most modern oral contraceptives. On paper, they seem to occupy entirely different worlds, almost like two strangers passing in a crowded subway station in Manhattan, never meant to interact. However, if you start digging into the pharmacology, there is a subtle, somewhat nagging concern regarding how they might influence one another. There is a theoretical possibility that nitrofurantoin could potentially interfere with the metabolic pathways—specifically those involving the cytochrome P450 enzymes in the liver—which are responsible for processing estrogen. If the nitrofurantoin manages to nudge those enzyme levels, it could, in theory, alter the concentration of ethinylestradiol in your system. Now, I remember reading a clinical study a few years back while I was sitting in a particularly drafty waiting room at a clinic in Chicago, and it touched on these kinds of drug-drug interactions. While the risk of the birth control failing because of this specific combination isn't necessarily labeled as a "major" red flag in every textbook, it does introduce a layer of uncertainty that many doctors find prudent to monitor. It’s that classic medical dilemma: is the interaction clinically significant enough to change how we prescribe, or is it just academic noise? If someone is navigating both of these medications, the general consensus usually leans toward caution. It isn't about panic; it's about being deliberate. One would want to ensure that the efficacy of the contraceptive remains rock-solid, especially since the consequences of an unexpected pregnancy are far more significant than the minor inconvenience of a shifting metabolic rate. As always, the conversation really needs to happen with a healthcare provider who knows the full scope of a patient's history, because medicine is rarely as simple as a single equation.
I was reading through some clinical notes earlier—you know how I get, sometimes I just find myself falling down these deep rabbit holes of pharmacology when I should be focusing on more pressing matters—and I came across some interesting data regarding nitrofurantoin. It seems there’s a bit of a nuance worth noting if you're looking at oral hormonal therapies. Essentially, nitrofurantoin can actually dial down the effectiveness or the overall levels of ethinylestradiol, primarily because it tends to shift the balance of the intestinal flora. It’s a bit of a curious mechanism, isn't it? To think that a medication meant to target a urinary tract issue could ripple out and affect gut bacteria, which then indirectly touches upon hormone metabolism. Now, it’s important to keep a level head here: this specifically applies to the oral versions of the hormone, rather than other delivery methods. From what I can gather, the actual risk of contraceptive failure remains low, but it’s certainly one of those instances where "low risk" doesn't mean "zero concern." If someone is navigating both of these, it would be wise to keep a watchful eye on things and monitor for any changes. It’s all about that careful, measured observation—much like trying to predict the weather in Chicago; you can have all the data in the world, but you still keep an umbrella close by just in case.

So, basically, what we’re looking at here is that the efficacy of Belara doesn't actually diminish. It's one of those things where you might think, given how much time passes or how the body processes things, that the impact would taper off, but that isn't quite the case. I remember reading a study once—or perhaps it was just a very detailed article in a medical journal I stumbled upon while waiting for my coffee at a cafe in Seattle—that touched on these metabolic pathways, and it really drove home the idea that the strength remains steady. It’s a bit like that old clock in my grandfather's study; no matter how many times you wind it or how much dust settles on the casing, the mechanism keeps its rhythm without losing a second. In short, the effect stays right where it needs to be.

So, because of these infections, I ended up on Ninur :/ My doctor told me it's fine as long as I don't take Ninur and Belara at the exact same time—just that I should take the Ninur a bit earlier... But now I'm worried about whether I need backup protection. My GP mentioned that since Ninur isn't an antibiotic, but more like Uroseptik, it might not necessarily interfere with the efficacy... Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks 🙂

Kimberly Ross3 said:Man, my very first cycle lasted 16 days... and during those 16 days, I ended up visiting my gynecologist three different times! Each time, she just kept insisting everything was totally normal because my body was basically reacting to the shock of it all—just telling me to take care of myself, eat enough, and whatnot. After that whole ordeal, everything went back to being fine; all my subsequent cycles were just like they usually are, nothing crazy.

As for the Belmiran thing, you should probably dig through the actual instructions for both the medication and the Belara—there's gotta be something written in there somewhere.

Yeah, I took the second dose last night, and today—which is the third day of my cycle—is a total mess. This stuff shows no sign of letting up on the intensity. Oh well, I guess it's fine, provided I don't run into any other side effects.🙂

Hey everyone,

So, I just took my first dose of birth control last night—it happened to be the first day of my period—so now I’m just sitting here waiting to turn into a werewolf or some kind of monster. 😁 Since this is my first time dealing with hormonal pills and I’m feeling quite a bit of pain, I guess it might be okay to take something like Advil? Also, I have an E. coli infection in my urine, so I wonder if it’s safe to mix cranberry or uva ursi teas with these pills. Third, has anyone ever taken anything specifically to calm down while on them? I’m not really the type, but since I’ll probably need to given some tough situations coming up, I guess there shouldn't be any issues? Thanks!
