Hey everyone,

I'm looking for some new people to chat and hang out with. I’m hitting my 30s soon, and my interests range from movies and gaming to getting lost in a good book. I also enjoy deep, existential dives into the meaning of life—or lack thereof—as well as venting about past traumas or just laughing at total nonsense 🙂 I hit the gym regularly; I love staying active, though I'll admit my motivation tends to dip every now and then 😁

Gender and age aren't dealbreakers for me. As long as we click and can have a genuine connection, I'm happy. I'm strictly looking for friendship here—whether that stays online or evolves into grabbing a coffee or hitting a workout session together 😁

I'd really love to meet some new faces and hear different perspectives on things. It feels like it's time for a little change in my routine... if any of this sounds like your kind of vibe, feel free to reach out 🙂
Hi everyone,

Paratrooper has a question 😁

To get back on track, I’ve got a bit of a specific situation regarding these passes 🙄 and I could really use some insight from someone who knows the ropes.

My legal residence is in NYC-Vegas. My job is also based in NYC-Vegas. However, I actually live in New York City, even though I'm not officially registered there.
If you look at this strictly by the book—I work in NYC-Vegas, my ID says NYC-Vegas, everything looks perfect on paper. But the gray area is that I’m physically staying in an apartment in New York City where I don't have an official registration.

I can't travel between New York City and NYC-Vegas easily because I have to maintain that I am leaving my place of residence; legally speaking, I have no reason to be in New York City. I’m just not sure how they verify things. Do they ask for a state ID, or just the employer pass?

Once the National lockdown and border closure decree was issued, I headed back to NYC-Vegas. But honestly, that isn't a permanent fix. If I try to nag my boss about getting my residency paperwork sorted, is that even possible during the middle of a pandemic? (Using the online portal isn't an option for him; he’s an older gentleman.) Is there any way I can request a specific pass until I get my residency issues resolved in New York City?

Has anyone else dealt with something similar? How did you handle it?

Everything makes sense now, sorry for my previous comment 🙂

Can Joshua Garcia5 handle this?

He can, just reach out to Nick with a quote from this post. 🙂

Hi there,

Is it possible to change my username to either San_Enola or SanEnola?

Unknown: I'd rather not have such a visible name in my handle, so I was wondering if there's any way to strip that part out.

I'm also open to any clever suggestions you might have. 🙂

I’m not sure which specific brand of birth control you’re on, but from my experience, when I found myself in a similar spot, I just went into the pharmacy, explained the situation, and the pharmacist handed me the pills right then and there. They just told me I had to bring in the actual prescription within five days. Since I was already scheduled to be on them for a while anyway, it wasn't much of an issue. I don't know if the rules are the same for every medication or every drugstore, but it might be worth a shot.

Chloe Gray5 said:I don't get it—your doctor told you to take a seven-day break like usual, and the instructions say skip the breaks entirely, so why are you even asking about taking a whole month off? What’s the point? Since it’s already day eight, you should probably just start up again—that’s what the doc recommended, anyway. If you go on a month-long hiatus, you aren't actually accomplishing anything in terms of "cleansing" or whatever... you're just going to mess with your hormones and end up causing yourself problems.

The packaging for Novynette states that once you finish a pack (in my case, Lindynette), you shouldn't take a seven-day break; instead, you should start the next pack of Novynette on the eighth day. However, my doctor specifically told me to take a break and then resume as if I were continuing the same medication. I just wanted to double-check to be absolutely certain. 🤷

Thanks for the reply 🙂

Since there isn't much going on in the Novynette thread, I figured I’d ask here instead. After being on Lindynette 20 for a year, my doctor just switched me over to Novynette. He told me that once I finish my current pack of Lindynette, I should take the standard seven-day break and then start the Novynette. However, looking at the Novynette instructions, it says if you're switching from another birth control that follows the 21+7 pattern, you don't actually need to take a break—you can just start the new ones immediately.
So now I'm stuck wondering: should I follow my doctor's advice, or stick to what the pill packaging actually says? 🤷

E: Just to add, today is the eighth day of my break, so I'm really not sure if I should be starting the new pack today or if I should wait until after my next period.

Hands down, this is one of the best movies I’ve seen in quite a while.

Meryl leaves me absolutely breathless every single time; honestly, I was already bowing down to her within the first ten minutes. 🙏
With her characters, I completely lose sight of the fact that I'm watching the famous Meryl Streep—I just see the person she's playing, as if she had lived that life forever.

Julia really surprised me with her performance here. It felt like she had been waiting for a role exactly like this; hats off to her.

The entire story was just wonderful. I found myself laughing out loud several times, and there were moments so good I actually rewound them to catch everything. There were also plenty of scenes that truly moved me to tears. I didn't feel like the plot was overloaded, either; it's very easy to follow, and rather than getting caught up in the various subplots, I found myself much more invested in the human connections between the characters.

I thought this movie was fantastic 🙏

The casting was spot on across the board, even with James Garner. She really nailed that "girl next door" vibe—so sweet and unassuming, which fit her role perfectly. There was such a gentle undertone running through the whole film. 😍

Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto were incredible; they both truly lived their characters, and I think the chemistry between them was palpable. Matthew impressed me once again, not just because of his sheer dedication to the part, but because of his actual acting ability and how effectively he embodied the character. 🙏

Denis O'Hare was also great; it’s just a shame he didn't have more screen time.

Honestly, nothing but praise for this entire film. 😁
Philip Seymour Hoffman in Movies ·
It’s been quite a while since I last saw anyone bring up Hoffman's role in Patch Adams during these intense debates.

It wasn't a massive role, but honestly, I thought he was absolutely perfect in this one. He managed to pack such a great mix of arrogance, ego, and underlying fear into that young student who simply refuses to be anything less than the best.

He didn't have a massive role in the film, but for a split second there, he absolutely stole the scene.

Regarding Jared Padalecki's tweet, I honestly don't see why anyone shouldn't be allowed to voice their opinion. If he's considered some kind of "wannabe star"—even if that wasn't exactly how he put it—and he isn't permitted to share his thoughts, then why should the rest of us, who aren't stars at all, have any say either?
Look, the guy has kids, so he’s likely looking at this through the lens of a parent. From that perspective, choosing drugs over being there for your children? Yeah, that's just plain stupid.
At Mayo Clinic, they rarely issue internal referrals or handle orders on behalf of the patient. My mom has been seeing doctors there for about five years now, and I think that’s only happened maybe three or four times—and even then, only if she was practically begging and making a huge fuss about it.
By the way, the staff at the Mayo Clinic desks have told us several times that each floor operates entirely independently; they don't coordinate across the building. To quote one nurse I spoke with: "We honestly have no clue what they're doing on the floor above us, let alone the one below, much less in a different building."

For everyone here going through this, or supporting someone who is: have you ever sought out psychological counseling or just found someone to talk to?
I know there are hospitals out there that immediately refer women following breast cancer surgery to counseling, because losing that sense of femininity and dealing with everything that follows can be such a heavy burden.

Of course, does anyone else dealing with other types of cancer find themselves having these kinds of deep conversations with their family?

Regarding blood draws, using HEPARIN gel can really help. My mom dealt with the exact same issue, and they recommended it to us; her veins recovered beautifully, making future draws much easier without leaving any marks. You just apply a thick layer three times a day and massage it in gently.

As for the pain, I'm not quite sure what to suggest. My mom was also taking Zaldiar, but it wasn't doing much for her, so she switched to Ibuprofen 600 mg granules. Still, I can't say for certain if that would work for you since the patches aren't providing relief.

If I happen to remember anything else, I'll be sure to let you know.

Austin Miller72, if they can't manage to eat or drink anything, you might want to ask the doctor for a prescription for Ensure. I believe you can buy it without one, but there's a catch $4.25 where you have to provide medical history.

It’s basically like chocolate milk—they also have strawberry and banana flavors—and it really helps to just sip on it occasionally to get some much-needed vitamins and strength back.
My mom couldn't handle any food at all because she was feeling so nauseous, and since she has to stick to a gluten-free diet, everything tasted even worse to her. That Ensure was a lifesaver for her during those rough patches.

My mother is dealing with quite a few health issues—cancer being the most difficult of them all. We’ve been through just about every department in the hospital, and I can honestly say the experience is the same everywhere: the nurses are far more rude, dismissive, and stuck-up than the doctors. I’m not sure what the issue is at Vinogradski, but I’ve heard plenty of negative feedback about them.

Everything came back clear—pure luck, honestly. Thanks for asking. 🙂 She went through eight rounds of chemo, split between four cycles of the AC protocol and four of the AC-t protocol. That second one really took it out of her; she was still feeling the aftereffects even five months later. But she’s back on her feet now, doing her own thing, practicing a bit of yoga, going for walks, and all that. She’s still on hormone therapy with Novladex.

I’m sincerely hoping your mom’s results come back positive and that she stays stronger than all of this. How is she holding up lately?

Ronald Hughes10 said:We haven't tried that yet. I'll actually need to coordinate with her primary care physician regarding home care and IV fluids, so we can figure it out then... Even though Reglan didn't seem to do much before when she wasn't vomiting quite this much—back when she could at least manage to keep a pill down. Most of the time now, she’s just bringing up mucus and fluids rather than actual stomach contents; there's no food in what she vomits.
Thanks

My mom is battling breast cancer, and she used to deal with that same kind of mucus vomiting—mostly just spitting up saliva. She took Zofran and Ondansetron, but throughout her entire chemo treatment, she also drank ginger tea and Taheebo tea. It might be worth trying different combinations together.

Hi everyone.

About a year ago, I first joined this discussion when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Fast forward to today, one year later, she has completed eight rounds of treatment (four cycles of the AC protocol followed by four cycles of AC-T) and has undergone breast reconstruction.

Back in the seventh month, we had all her scans done, and everything came back clear. I hope that brings a little bit of hope to anyone currently going through this. Since it’s non-invasive, she'll be heading back for follow-up screenings in the ninth month.

If anyone needs advice on anything—whether it's tips for boosting the immune system, some moral support, or just someone to talk to—please don't hesitate to reach out. Talking with many of you here has truly helped me get through this incredibly difficult year.

My heart goes out to you for the loss of your mother, graniteorca42.
