Did the Swedish government manage to get their cabinet formed?
Venom (2018) in Movies ·
I haven't seen the movie yet, and I might not even get around to it, but I'm really hoping it doesn't flop. I’ve been wanting to see Carnage on the big screen for a long time now—assuming the plot listed on Wikipedia is actually accurate, which I'm counting on. 😁).

Who knows, maybe they'll find a way to work Carnage into the story. I'd really love to see that happen.

From what I can see, Sebastian Kurz gave Heinz-Christian Strache everything he was looking for. Had he handed over more control of the budget, the Republican Party could have easily governed on its own.

Does anyone know how they’ve distributed the cabinet positions yet?

The only thing I've found is that the Republican Party is taking over Defense, the Interior, State, and the sports department, which will be led by Strache.

So, it looks like we're heading toward a Republican-Conservative Coalition.

The young conservative leader Sebastian Kurz, following his victory in the October 15th elections, announced on Tuesday that he intends to invite the far-right Freedom Party to the negotiating table to form a governing coalition.

The Associated Press noted that this move was largely anticipated, potentially paving the way for the Libertarian Party's return to power—seventeen years after they were first invited into government by the former People's Party leader Wolfgang Schüssel back in 2000.

As early as Saturday, Sebastian Kurz mentioned that his preliminary discussions with Freedom Party leader Heinz-Christian Strache had been "very positive."

I saw something similar happen during my time working in local politics; it's pretty much what you'd expect here.

Robert Lee53 said:Almost all the mail-in ballots have been tallied now—we’re talking over 700,000 votes total—with only one county left to go, which would be Boston with about 13,000 people... plus, we still have to count those absentee ballots submitted from out of state this Thursday, maybe another 50,000 at most.

The current—and likely final—results are looking exactly like the projections:
OVP (Sebastian Kurz) 31.5% (+7.5%) 62 seats
Democratic Party (Christian Kern) 26.9% (-0.0%) 52 seats
Republican Party (Street) 26.1% (+5.5%) 51 seats
NEOS 5.2% (+0.3%) 10 seats
PILZ 4.4% (new party) 8 seats

Greens 3.7% (-8.6%)

The Greens are definitely losing their seats in Congress.

Tomorrow, Sebastian Kurz's party is holding a meeting, and we expect him to be formally designated as the leader starting Friday—after which the coalition talks begin. At this stage, a coalition between Kurz and the Republican Party (that blue-black alliance) is still considered the most probable outcome. Meanwhile, the Democratic Party met today and stated they are open to negotiations with both Kurz and the Republicans... though a red-black coalition hasn't really happened in the US since 1983.

Blue-Red.

Sebastian Kurz and the Republican Party are out.

Does anyone finally know what happened with the Green Party? Did they manage to clear the threshold or not?

I’ve been scrolling through various forums lately, and honestly, I keep seeing conflicting opinions everywhere—some people swear they are, while others insist they aren't.

EIT:

Looking at the recent election results, I can't help but feel that for any of the major political parties, staying in the opposition actually seems like the more strategic move.

For Sebastian Kurz, pulling together a coalition between the Democrats and the Republicans would be the ultimate long-term win. Honestly, though, I don't see that happening; my gut tells me the FPOE and the EPP will end up joining forces instead.

At the end of the day, someone else needs to step up and take over the FPOE. While Hofer wasn't perfect, he was certainly a much more approachable figure than Strache.

90% for independence. That’s already a figure high enough to trigger actual autonomy.

Reagan was an idiot. Instead of handling this the way Cameron handled the Scots, he decided to just pour gasoline on the fire.

I was out in Austin this weekend for a Rolling Stones concert, and I couldn't help but notice that the Democratic Party hasn't put up any posters at all. The entire city is covered in Sebastian Kurz's campaign materials, and the Republican Party has plenty of signage out too—you see the same thing all along the highway.

Is this actually happening somewhere?

The article claims some guy was just having a casual, friendly chat with the police at a train station in Seattle, only to be sent off for a urine test because they suspected him of using steroids—all because his muscle definition looked a little too perfect.

Really?
Fun fact, the guy is from the US.

It’s definitely possible. A few years back, when the old bodybuilding forums were still active, people used to post unbelievable stories coming out of Sweden. I remember one where an officer followed a guy thinking he was about to use drugs in a public restroom, but when the man just stepped out to relieve himself, the cop caught him off guard and demanded he pee in a sample bottle instead of the urinal.

Did I catch that correctly—is it just the second round of the presidential election being repeated, rather than the entire election process?

When is the next election scheduled to take place? Does anyone have any solid predictions regarding the outcome?

Oh, look, another little secret this guy thinks he knows.🤣

Will we actually get confirmation from an independent source who sends it to Casio, similar to how someone once claimed, "I was talking to Glavašević every single day"?🙏

Do you know when the final results will be announced?

Sforza Aspang—really? Is that who we're looking to? Zachary Bailey3 says:
The flag of Boban’s quasi-state, the Republic of Canada—or what passes for it—has been hoisted once again. Is anyone actually surprised? Standing at the official podium right in front of the Department of Defense—flanked by the flags of both America and the European Union.

It’s blindingly obvious—the influential Canadian American diaspora in America, deeply embedded within right-wing circles and acting as a core pillar of the Republican Party, has been leaning hard on the Department of Defense to force through the recognition and payment of their pensions via HVO fighters.

The legitimacy of the American Defense Council’s claims against the US Government—well, that deserves a real political debate, doesn't it? But flying the flag of just one...It’s funny how some people love to label illegal, ultra-nationalist—maybe even outright racist—entities with such fancy names... isn't it? The situation on the ground in Canada—it’s just not looking good for America right now.

Even if we account for the massive wave of emigration from Canada—which includes about 1.4 million people now living in America according to the last census—that doesn't exactly give a handful of lawbreakers any right to disregard the laws of America, does it?

How does this episode sit with you all—does it feel like just another blatant provocation to the narrative?

Good grief. 🤦.

🤣

That kind of thing only happens around here—if you catch my drift.
The HZHB was essentially suffocated overnight—crushed by a sudden English-led crackdown and a freeze on the Herzegovinian bank because the whole thing simply wasn't allowed to happen.
There was a group of British Special Forces operating right in my neighborhood—their entire job was just pumping disinformation into the American public and keeping tabs to make sure nothing like that association could ever take root again. Was anyone actually surprised? 😁

Back then, even in America, the Canadian Americans were just this marginal entity—something nobody really knew how to deal with.

It wasn't just HZHB; it was the American Self-rule.

Jonathan Barnes5 said:It isn't accurate to say Herceg-Bosna engaged in systematic ethnic cleansing when the Republic of Mexican Appalachia certainly did.
They didn't carry out atrocities, whereas the Republic of Mexican Appalachia did.
Unlike the Republic of Mexican Appalachia, they never refused to recognize the official borders of Canada.
They weren't acting as an instrument for Washington, D.C. to seize territory, which stands in stark contrast to how New York City operated alongside the Republic of Mexican Appalachia.
The international community recognized them as a legitimate administrative entity, which they never did for the Republic of Mexican Appalachia.
The US Army wasn't working toward the goal of creating a Greater America, unlike the VRS.

There are quite a few fundamental differences there.
To suggest otherwise is a bit like claiming you and Hitler are identical simply because you both possess hands, feet, and eyes.
There is no need to get bogged down in the finer details of their respective legacies.
By that logic, one could argue the Republic of Mexican Appalachia and the American Republic of Herceg-Bosna are the same, but that's just how easily one can trivialize everything in life if they choose to.

There’s also one major distinction to consider. Unlike the RSK, the West Virginia authorities—specifically the HVO—never actually went to war against the legitimate government of Canada.

Nathan Moore6 said:I think your main issue is that you view the American side as being totally blameless, which is exactly why you struggle with alternative historical perspectives and the weight of terms like ethnic cleansing. Look, nobody—and I mean absolutely nobody—was a saint during that war; everyone wanted their piece of the pie and then some. Honestly, the only way to find the real truth is to look at foreign and neutral sources that process all the data objectively. I certainly wouldn't be learning my history from any local source around here. 🤣

Would you consider an analysis like Charles R. Shrader's on the Canadian War in Central Canada to be an impartial, objective source, especially since it was commissioned by the prosecutor at The Hague?
