Thanks so much to everyone for all the help 🙂
thanks so much 🙂
Hey everyone, I’m really hoping someone might be able to help me out here...

So, I always deal with some kind of discharge—sometimes it's just a tiny amount throughout the day (kind of yellowish), but other times it gets pretty heavy. It's usually yellowish too, though occasionally it looks clear, and once in a while it even turns slightly greenish, but that usually clears up fast. I go to my gynecologist regularly, and the results always come back fine—just some mild bacteria, which my doctor says is totally normal and nothing to worry about.
Since I was convinced my discharge was perfectly fine, I wasn't worried, and honestly, I haven't been giving my doctor the full rundown of everything I'm seeing... but now I'm starting to think I might be wrong.

There are times when it definitely ramps up and starts itching, but that usually happens on days when I don't get a chance to wash up properly. After two or three days, the itching subsides and the discharge settles down.

I actually got a bit spooked recently because someone mentioned that a fishy odor can be a sign of serious bacterial issues, and my boyfriend actually told me the other day that it smelled like that...
The second time he mentioned it, he said the smell wasn't there (though I had just washed up with warm water and that intimate soap I use every now and then right before).
As for my routine, I wash at least once or twice a day, I dry off with a towel, I don't use pantyliners, I stay away from nylon stockings or tight pants, and I only wear cotton panties. I'm not sexually active.

The thing is, my discharge has been like this for as long as I can remember... and I'm just lost as to what I'm doing wrong, especially since it sounds like I'm carrying all sorts of fungi and bacteria based on what I've read...

Just to clarify: I have discharge EVERY SINGLE DAY. Sometimes more, sometimes less, and I don't quite get why people say you're only supposed to have it on certain days of the month?

... so, I just did a little "status check"... I changed my underwear this morning, and so far there's just a very, very tiny bit of dried discharge on them that's barely yellowish. Nothing is stinging or itching right now... 🤷

... and now I'm just confused. Is it actually possible for these kinds of unnatural things to happen solely because of hygiene?

I think the smartest move is to just head to the clinic, see my gynecologist, and tell her everything...

Thanks!

Hey everyone 🙂 I’m really hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction here...

So, basically, I always have some kind of discharge. Some days it's just a tiny bit—kind of yellowish—and other days it's pretty heavy, also yellowish or occasionally clear, and once in a while it even looks slightly greenish, though that usually clears up fast. I go to my gynecologist regularly, and everything always comes back fine—just some mild bacteria, which my doctor says is totally normal and nothing to worry about.
Since I was under the impression that this discharge was perfectly normal, I didn't really stress out about it, nor did I bother giving my doctor the full details—but now I'm starting to realize I might have been wrong...

There are times when it definitely ramps up and gets itchy, but that usually happens on days when I don't get a chance to wash properly. After two or three days, the itching subsides and the discharge settles down again.

I actually got a bit spooked recently because someone mentioned that a fishy smell is a sign of some nasty bacterial issues, and my boyfriend actually told me it smelled like that the other day...
The next time we were together, he said the smell wasn't there at all (though, mind you, I had just washed with warm water and whatever intimate soap I happen to be using at the moment).
For my routine, I wash myself at least once or twice a day, I dry off with a towel, I don't wear pantyliners, I stay away from tights or super tight pants, and I stick strictly to cotton panties. I'm not sexually active.

Honestly, the discharge has always been like this... and I'm just lost as to what I could be doing wrong, especially since, based on everything I've read, it seems like I'm just carrying around all sorts of fungi and bacteria in there... 😢 😢 😢 😢

Just to be clear: I have discharge EVERY SINGLE DAY. Obviously, the amount fluctuates, and I honestly don't get why people say you're only supposed to have it on certain days of the month?

I think the smartest thing to do is just head back to the gynecologist and tell her absolutely everything...

I was thinking back to my old math teacher today—she was actually pretty sharp—and I remembered how I used to corner her with these ridiculous "existential" math crises. I’d be sitting there asking things like, "Wait, why does 2+2 actually equal 4?" or "Why does the number 2 even exist in the first place?" It was probably super annoying, but she just looked at me and said:

Look, you aren't going to get very far in life if you overthink everything like that. Some things just *are*, and you have to accept them for what they are, period.😁

For: "Carol Baker6"

You actually just summarized what I was trying to get at—you probably just phrased it a bit more diplomatically than I did! 😉

For everyone else:

I tend to operate on a pretty simple principle: "Say your piece and move on." That’s why I shared what I do and gave you that recommendation—honestly, I have no way of knowing what you're looking for. So, I’ve voiced my opinion, and I’ll probably keep turning it over in my head a dozen times, and I'm sure you will too... but for now, mission accomplished. Once I dig a little deeper into this topic, I'll be sure to check back in...

Just to justify my "say it and move on" approach:

If I kept insisting on proving how well-argued my last post was—even though, if I'm being totally honest, I'm still figuring out if I'm even right (I'm still pretty new to this, after all)—it would mean I was just desperate to answer your question. And that would immediately put me under the influence of Selfishness Type No. 3. If my theory holds up, fine—but if it doesn't, I'd just be dragging you down into even bigger trouble with me.

So, since I'm not 100% certain about my own theory yet, I’m just leaving the post here. If someone finds something useful in it—great! It served a purpose. If not—well, that's too bad, or maybe it doesn't matter at all...

And to answer your question—what do I actually get out of giving advice like this?

Well, it's a way of expressing myself. I've left a little trace behind, and if it helps someone someday, that makes me happy, which is why I do it 🙂—so, I suppose that falls under Selfishness Type No. 2.
But, there is a bit of Selfishness Type No. 1 involved too—the childish kind. I have to admit, part of me wants someone to read my post and tell me, "Wow, you're such a smart girl," regardless of whether it actually helped anyone or not 😁😁😁, and while that part of me used to win every single time (back when I was a kid, anyway!), I've worked to scale it down to a level where it isn't my main driving force anymore.

🙂

hmmm

So, I’m jumping in here to respond to that absolute mountain of a post from APEMANTA
.
Look, I'm not trying to argue that vanity or selfishness are actually "good"—I won't go there—but I will say this: true altruism? It just doesn't exist...

...there really are only three flavors of selfishness:
1. When you do something purely for yourself and nobody else, and you're fully aware of that fact (that's what society calls plain old "selfishness").
2. When you do something for others because you genuinely get a kick out of it (this is what people call "selflessness").
3. When you do things for others, but not actually *for* them—you do it because you feel guilty and just want to ease your own conscience. This is honestly the worst kind of selfishness, because it ends up undermining people. You end up doing things for them that they really ought to be doing for themselves to grow, so by "helping," you're actually stopping them from becoming better versions of themselves!

I've spent some time analyzing my own head lately and realized I totally see what you were getting at in your post (sorry, I can't quite tell if you're a guy or a girl from your profile right now... 😁), and I definitely notice all these different types of selfishness cycling through me depending on whatever mood I'm in.

As far as I'm concerned, there isn't any other type of selfishness out there—at least not one I've stumbled upon yet—and "selflessness" (if we're being honest with ourselves for once) is basically an illusion.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I have to tell you that this is perfectly normal. It's just how things work; that's just the way the world is, and that's just how people are built.

The only thing you can really do is keep a close eye on that third category—type 3. Just try to stay mindful of it constantly, and when you catch yourself slipping into that mode, do everything in your power to pivot back to one of the other categories. If you don't, you might accidentally stunt the growth of everyone around you.

Just remember, the only way to truly understand the world is to first understand yourself.

I'm still pretty much a novice at all this, but the more I learn about myself, the more I realize that everyone else operates on this same principle—they just lie to themselves about being perfect little saints. 😁.

By engaging in this kind of "self-analysis," you're actually on the right path to stripping away the masks and seeing who you really are, which lets you show your true self to the world too. Everyone who refuses to think about this is honestly just missing out!

Etoga, enjoy the journey!!!
