restlesstrucker15 said:I am wide awake. Greetings to everyone who knows me. I have a question for those of you currently taking Quetiapine, Seroquel, or similar medications... I am currently on an extended medical leave, and I am wondering if it is worth attempting the 25 mg dose of Seroquel again just to get some sleep. I tried it twice, lasting ten days each time, but I found myself unable to function until about 6:00 PM. > The 12.5 mg dose failed to put me to sleep entirely, yet left me feeling hungover until noon. My psychiatrist told me that if a medication still struggles to work after ten days, then it simply isn't the right fit for you. She clearly sees how much I am struggling with insomnia. For those of you who have used this, how long did it take for your body to adjust? Personally, I would be fine with feeling a bit groggy until 10:00 AM. Perhaps I might try it again now that I am on vacation. It wouldn't just be grogginess; it would feel more like watching a movie in slow motion—a total coma. I am at a loss for what else to try, as things like Calixte didn't work for me. Trazodone was tolerable, though it kept me sluggish until midday. However, my job involves teaching, which means I can't just stare blankly at a computer screen all day; I need to be actively engaging and animating others.

ummm....I started immediately at 100mg, mostly because I know with all those opioids I always have to increase the dose just to feel anything... so they gave me 25mg, and even that wasn't enough; I was taking four or five at a time. I honestly cannot imagine how 12.5mg could be considered a high dose for someone, especially when the instructions say you can go up to 800mg. My doctor is right—if it isn't knocking you out and is just leaving you a zombie during the day after ten days, then it clearly doesn't suit your body. Don't torture yourself; there is surely another medication out there that will work better. Everyone reacts differently. They have me on 300mg now, and it seems about right... I just hope you can't get addicted to Quetiapine...

Sorry, I just had to. Just a little bit of spam, I promise—I'll be good, Scout's honor. 😁

...you could always give it a shot yourself, since you clearly have nothing better to do with your life at midnight 🙄

And why the hell would they? I wasn't attempting suicide; I was simply trying to fall asleep... ☕

Kevin Bailey2 said:Has anyone ever dealt with hallucinations in their dreams from taking Seroquel?

Wait, what on earth does that even mean? Please don't scare me; I finally felt like I was falling in love, and now this medication... I mean, how is it even possible to have hallucinations within a dream? I already deal with enough anxiety from sleep paralysis when I wake up, which is terrifying enough as it is...

I once took over 70 Seroquel 150mg tablets.
And don't even get me started on the 60 Klonopin 2mg pills I washed down with them—those were nothing. 😵

Whatever, I went way too hard on the Misoprostol once, and I actually started bleeding from my nose so badly they couldn't stop it... I spent two days getting "cleaned out" in the hospital.

restlesstiger49 said:I’ve been getting those sudden jerks myself, right at the moment I'm finally starting to drift off during an afternoon nap. 😁It was happening for about a week straight. Now, it’s finally let up. As for those dreams, it seems like they're a direct side effect of the Velafax. I've been doing well on it for the last three weeks, but strangely enough, that's exactly when I started remembering my dreams more often. The problem is, they aren't exactly pleasant—they feel more like night terrors, and I've been waking up constantly throughout the night because of them.
Lately, I’ve been waking up feeling pretty exhausted, even if I manage to get eight hours of sleep or more. To make matters worse, my muscles have been aching like crazy. Have you dealt with anything similar? I'm thinking it might be time to head to the doctor for some blood work. 🤷
Back when I went through my suicide attempt and overdosed on a massive amount of medication... I’ve been thinking a lot about Seroquel lately. It's one of those medications that really stays on your mind once you start using it.

I’ve decided to call one of our fellow forum members "Dragon Lady" because of how she managed to survive that ordeal with her medication. And honestly? I think I'll start calling you that too. 😁 Man, even 12.5 mg of this stuff—you know, the generic Quetiapine—absolutely wrecks me.

Ugh, I never have night terrors—maybe once every two years at most. Part of that is because I have lucid dreams, so it isn't hard for me to just wake myself up or manipulate the dream... personally, I sleep normally on Seroquel; I take those 300mg, get hit with some dizziness, fall asleep, wake up briefly two or three times, and then go right back to sleep. For some reason, I haven't been getting enough sleep the last few days, but it's not because of the meds; for the first ten minutes, I feel a bit groggy, but things clear up quickly and I don't have issues later. And honestly, I've heard stories about people being out of commission all day from Seroquel, yet here I am on the XR version... sometimes I truly think even morphine couldn't touch me, considering how resistant I am to these drugs... 🥱

Kevin Bailey2 said:I personally survived 11 grams. Not milligrams. Grams. Ask Jesus how I pulled that off... it was a total disaster.

I read later that the drug is seriously messed up. Unlike Xanax, Norvasc, or whatever else is out there, it's way too easy to end things with this stuff...

So, here is another survivor... I guess you could say I'm still standing. About two weeks ago, after going three straight days without any sleep, I completely lost my mind. I ended up taking God knows how many 100mg Loquena pills—maybe ten of them?—and then added another twenty milligrams on top of that. And even then, I still couldn't get a single wink of sleep. ☕ So, they took me to the detox center, and I was sitting there all cheerful, fidgeting with my IV line because it was bothering me... and then, well... that’s about it. I could have easily poisoned myself and ended up dead. Maybe I should have just stayed home.

restlesstiger49 said:Quick question here...
Has anyone else using Velafax dealt with those sudden, random muscle spasms popping up in different parts of the body?

Hold on just a second, because I am actually going through this too. :| It first started when my entire system just completely gave out. I actually fainted during a final exam—I hadn't eaten or slept in three days because I had three finals lined up in one day, which was typical for my college years. I ended up having some sort of episode that they initially thought might be epilepsy, but it wasn't; I guess my body just buckled under the sheer amount of pressure. I dealt with those uncontrolled spasms for quite a while, maybe once every few days, but lately, whenever I lie down in bed and try to relax, the twitching gets much worse. Now, as I'm trying to wind down and fall asleep, I get these intense jerks almost every ninety seconds. What on earth is happening?

And as for the dreams, I’ve been having these incredibly vivid, cinematic dreams over the last week since I started taking 300 mg of Zyprexa. I could practically film an entire movie episode from just one dream because the detail is so intense. Not that it bothers me, though—on the contrary. 🙂I mean, I've dreamed every single day for as long as I can remember, but this is truly surreal. It's wild.

Grace Ross62 said:Has anyone else dealt with intense drowsiness right when they first started on Zoloft? If someone is reacting this way, would it be a smart move to take Xanax to counteract the sleepiness, or is it better to just push through and let those initial side effects settle down?

How on earth can you feel sleepy from Zoloft?? Serious drowsiness? There is absolutely no way that's coming from the Zoloft itself. That drug belongs to a class of medications that is supposed to boost your mood and "up" your energy; saying Zoloft makes you sleepy is like saying you took speed and immediately fell asleep... honestly, just go ask a psychiatrist. It might be some other medication entirely, because it definitely isn't Zoloft—you aren't even supposed to take it within five or six hours of bedtime because it usually causes insomnia.

redpilot37 said:My psychiatrist recommended I try Trintellix. It’s taken at night and works by targeting melatonin receptors... it’s covered $35 under my insurance plan, which is great. Everything sounds perfect except for one thing: elevated liver enzymes are a pretty common side effect 😲 so I'll have to do constant blood work to monitor my liver levels—at three, six, twelve, twenty-four months, and then just whenever they feel like it. It's making me a little nervous. Anyone have any experience with this?

I suppose there isn't really anything to be afraid of... we actually had a psychiatrist give a presentation during one of our meetings regarding these specific side effects mentioned in the paperwork. She argued that you should never even read them before starting a medication because you'll likely just end up autosuggesting that you're experiencing them. Instead, you should probably just take the medication for about ten days first. In my case, I think it mentions needing blood work monitoring for Coaxil too, but my doctor didn't seem particularly concerned about it...

Well, I suppose it’s time for me to chime in again. I can't even remember the last time I posted here, but here is the short version of my situation. Previously, I was taking one dose of Zoloft in the morning, some sedatives on an as-needed basis, and 100mg of Lunesta at night to try and get some sleep. However, everything just seemed to be getting worse. I kept going back for checkups, but I guess they wouldn't change anything for the longest time. That changed recently; for about a week now, I've been on two doses of Trintellix—one in the morning and one in the afternoon—plus 300mg of Seroquel XR at night. And honestly, I am finally sleeping normally... I am curious, though—has anyone else ever taken Trintellix? What is your experience with it? I have to admit, I had never even heard of this specific AD before.

Kevin Bailey2 said:Driving sleep-deprived is actually more dangerous than driving drunk. It’s a scary thought, but it's true.

A few days without sleep ruins everything. It completely wrecks your system. If you think that's bad, imagine dealing with insomnia that drags on for months. Honestly, I don't think people realize just how vital quality sleep is to staying functional. When things get that heavy, I'm pretty sure any decent psychiatrist is going to prescribe an AP rather than something like Sanval.

If I were dealing with chronic insomnia, I’d be looking into antipsychotics in a heartbeat. Honestly, I’d fight tooth and nail for them. If you haven't spent nights staring at the ceiling wide awake, you have no idea what I'm talking about.

I completely agree. I’d wish insomnia on my worst enemy; the way it makes your body deteriorate day after day is pure torture. That's why I was willing to accept whatever diagnosis they gave me, just so I could finally get some sleep.

Kevin Bailey2 said:I've been on Seroquel for two years... maybe three. I'm not sure. But I can still fall asleep with it without any issues. Even when I drop my dose from 400mg down to 100mg. Usually, I only do that when I have to be up super early... like 5:00 AM.

I was prescribed 100 mg, but I take more than that just to be safe.

Jason Vaughn482 said:Wait, did you actually say ten to fifteen pills? 😲 Are you kidding me? Please, for heaven's sake, don't do that. 🤦

Don't worry, I didn't experience any actual side effects... it’s just that eventually, taking one, two, three, or even four pills isn't enough to actually knock you out. It basically just puts you into this sort of trance state. Then, I'll wake up only to realize I've taken ten of them; I suppose my subconscious was just desperately screaming for sleep while I was hallucinating from exhaustion, so I kept swallowing them until I finally passed out—though even then, it rarely worked. There were times, maybe once in a blue moon, when I actually managed to get some sleep... but those were rare exceptions.
That is exactly why I have decided to take a break from everything my body has become accustomed to...

I suppose I’m hoping I won't end up becoming dependent on Seroquel... does anyone here have actual experience with this? Is it truly as safe as I’m telling myself it is, or am I just being naive for having taken less than two pills?

Kevin Bailey2 said:When you take amyzol at night, how do you actually feel the next morning?

I used to take it almost 10 years ago, but only when things got bad. I remember sleeping way too much and eating constantly whenever I was on it... plus that general brain fog.
But whatever. What I really want to know is: what’s it like waking up? How do you feel in the morning after taking amyzol?

If I just take one as prescribed, everything is fine—totally normal, it doesn't even really knock me out... but back when I was taking more of them, it would put me right to sleep and I'd sleep soundly, feeling okay in the morning.

I had my follow-up appointment this morning, and she actually switched me off the Amyzol and started me on 100mg of Quetiapine at night instead. She asked me the same thing, how I felt in the morning from that dose, and honestly, it's fine; the main thing is that I'm getting sleep.
We even went with a "placeholder" diagnosis to make sure I could get the Quetiapine... She scaled back my anxiolytics, but I don't really need them once the Zoloft and Q kick in anyway... so everything seems to be working out great now...

Jason Vaughn482 said:I’m in that exact same boat where even 7.5 mg doesn't touch my insomnia anymore. Now, I have to supplement it with 10 mg of Ambien just to stand a chance at passing out. Once I finally do succumb to sleep, I can usually manage a solid 8 or 9 hours straight, but the initial descent into slumber is a grueling battle; sometimes it happens instantly, but other nights I’m just tossing and turning for two hours waiting for the lights to go out.

Honestly, both I and the Sanval have decided it's time for a long, long break. It’s getting ridiculous because I can take up to ten or fifteen 10 mg pills and still end up waking up after only three hours. I'm heading to my check-up tomorrow morning to get my Quetiapine prescription sorted out for free, so I guess I'll just ride it out until my body finally weans itself off the Sanval...

Benjamin Robinson3 said:It’s honestly surreal reading about people actually getting sleep from Calixta, especially at such low doses like 7.5 mg.
I was on 45 mg for four months, and the only time it actually helped me drift off was during those first two or three weeks; after that, it did absolutely nothing.

I had the exact same experience with Mirzaten. It worked for a few months, helping me sleep, but then eventually it just stopped working altogether... I think I was taking a full pill or maybe a pill and a half, if I remember correctly.

Jason Vaughn482 said:In this country, getting your hands on those pills is far too easy; you just roll into any local ER, they slap a label on you for having depression with psychotic features, and just like that, you're cleared. Honestly, under those circumstances, I wouldn't budge—even if my medical history stays logged in their system, I refused to take the meds or even sign the paperwork. They are absolutely pushing that Associated Press stuff on everyone, even though I'm convinced it isn't the right fit for anxiety... but hey, you never know, right? Maybe one day I'll just agree to a schizophrenia diagnosis just to get access to the medication I actually need.

Look, I have been struggling since I was fifteen years old. Seriously, I am ready to drink pure ethanol just so I can get some sleep......
