Kevin Bailey2 said:If you want lemon balm to actually work, steam it. Put it in boiling water and breathe in the vapors. You use less, it goes straight to your brain, and it hits faster. Plus, there's less risk for the baby.

We're talking about pregnancy here, right?

I wasn't pregnant. I don't want to be. EVER. NOPE. Just... gross.

Honestly, I'd rather have someone fillet me alive. But whatever.

Kimberly Morris said:Thanks so much for taking the time to explain the unknown situation and for the support...

Maybe my dose was too low, but man, I felt absolutely terrible on it... just constant racing thoughts, depression, and this hunger that I couldn't stop.

When I decided to stop taking the unknown, I actually reached out to my local doctor to ask what I could take instead to help with the depression. They suggested lemon balm tea, and honestly, it actually helps a little bit, so maybe you should give that a try....

I guess I should probably address this, though I find the whole thing rather infuriating. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel compelled to weigh in on this mess.
Kevin Bailey2 said:I dropped from 600mg of Seroquel down to 100mg, and now this 100mg dose is absolutely wrecking me. I have no clue how to handle this.

I switched over to 25mg of Lexapro because Seroquel was just hitting me way too hard.
Even though Lexapro is just a generic version, it’s nowhere near half as strong as Seroquel. For me, 100mg of Lexapro does absolutely nothing. But honestly? These 25mg doses actually help me drift off without that crazy dizzy feeling.
Even if I take my 25mg Lexapro, I’m not falling asleep unless I actually crawl into bed first.
I only actually conk out once I hit the mattress.

Well, exactly—that’s precisely why I find it such an effective medication. If I take it and happen to fall asleep, fine; if not, I just stay awake as usual. It doesn't leave me feeling groggy or completely out of it afterward. I suppose it might be because it's the XR version.

Kevin Bailey2 said:Between the Prozac, Clonazepam, Lamal, and Seroquel, I’ve lost weight on all of them.
The Prozac does it because it just wires me up; I'm so hyperactive I forget to eat.
Clonazepam makes me such a multitasking machine that I'm constantly juggling ten things at once and don't have a second to grab a bite.
As for Lamal... honestly, no clue why, but the hunger just vanishes when I take it.
Then there's Seroquel. It knocks me out cold. I sleep so much that I miss meal times entirely, and by the time I actually wake up, I'm not even hungry—I just grab a coffee and basically live off caffeine.

I actually came pretty close to anorexia because of the Prozac.
Though, if you ask me, anorexia feels like just another side effect of taking Prozac.

I took my Seroquel last night 🤔 and stayed awake until 7 AM—this time I did it on purpose, I wasn't sleepy, I was just listening to music, whatever... I really can't wrap my head around how someone can't fall asleep within two or three days of taking 100mg. I mean, back when we were in the hospital, there were three or four of us who were given Seroquel, and we spent about 80% of our time sleeping, being so calm and quiet that the patients in the other rooms were actually making fun of us. But I stayed awake 🤷 to me, it feels like if I just lie down normally and try to drift off, I'll pass out... during the first week or two, I felt incredibly dizzy and my heart was racing so fast, I was terrified they had given me a 🥱 massive dose (like 300mg), but now sometimes I take three or four pills... I just really hope this stuff doesn't make me gain weight 🙄

😲 😲 😲 😲 Give me a break... I'm starting to notice my pants are getting tighter too. 🤦 God, why is a decent night's sleep so damn expensive?

Justin Rogers5 said:Anyone here been on Mirzaten for the long haul, like 2 years or more?
I started getting these brutal headaches about three months in. I read somewhere that taking Mirzaten can mess with your immune system, and honestly, I’ve been fighting this sinus infection for almost six months now. Just wondering if Mirzaten is actually the reason I can't shake these constant infections—the sore throats, fevers, headaches, all that junk.

Hmm... well, I was on it for about a year and a half. Everything was great at first—I was sleeping like a baby—until I started gaining weight and basically eating everything in sight. As far as the infections go, I don't really believe that part holds water... though, I guess you'd probably be more certain if you asked a doctor.

One day I’m absolutely killing it—smiling, full of energy, totally carefree, zero intrusive thoughts. Then the next? Total washout. I spend the entire day spiraling about how bad things used to be, getting stuck in those "what if" loops, and the whole day is just wasted. Then, boom, another day where I feel super, no nonsense at all, followed by another low. It’s been cycling like this for a week. Is this kind of roller coaster normal when you're first starting out?

I had the exact same experience with Zoloft, which is essentially the same medication... though in my case, everything actually started getting worse later on...

It actually worked for me. (Though it might have been a bit much—I feel like I have a harder time falling asleep since I started taking it, but hey, everyone reacts differently.)

hmmm....I don't know, I really have to consider whether this is going to absolutely wreck my sleep schedule, or if it will actually play nice with the Seroquel... 🤔

Jason Vaughn482 said:I find myself in the exact same boat; I seem to get whatever medication I request. My therapist already understands my boundaries regarding certain drugs, so she doesn't even bother suggesting them anymore, yet when I ask for something new, she provides it without hesitation. I have to wonder, though—is Miller truly superior to Xanax, and is there any meaningful synergy between the two? Honestly, I feel as though I’ve earned a PhD in pharmacology at this point, and I don't just mean psychotropics. It’s a necessary precaution because these professionals rarely take the time to cross-reference your current prescriptions against things like blood pressure or blood sugar levels; they just hand over the script. Consequently, I’ve taken it upon myself to conduct my own exhaustive research into every interaction and contraindication...

It is the same for me. They offered me Mirtazapine or Seroquel several times, but I told them absolutely not because those drugs make me gain an abnormal amount of weight. They keep trying new things on me, but honestly, why should I? Even they don't seem to know which one will work best for me. At that point, who wants to gamble with their health? Eventually, I suppose I'll run out of options...

Well, Xanax equals Miller equals Ativan equals Alprazolam. It is all essentially the same medication; it just so happens that I find Ativan tastes bitter and I hate swallowing it, so I prefer taking Miller instead, even though both are listed on my medical record...
So, does anyone want to tell me which antidepressant is a bit stronger so I can try it? I have been through Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, now Effexor, Mirtazapine, and none of them have actually cured me...

restlesstrucker15 said:That sounds harrowing. It seems you were essentially dosing yourself blindly in a desperate attempt to find rest. I can certainly empathize with that level of exhaustion, but please, I beg you, do not let that happen again. If you find yourself in that state, it would be much safer to simply head to the ER the following morning.
How are you feeling now?

Send me a message if you need anything.

As far as sleeping goes, it’s relatively okay; I take one or two Seroquel tablets and sleep normally until morning. Sometimes I wake up, but I can usually drift back off. I have a follow-up appointment on the 16th, and I think I'll ask my doctor to bump the dosage up to 400mg. If they switch me to the XR version, that would be great because it seems to help my mood quite a bit...
But honestly, this depression isn't just mild; I feel completely isolated and worthless, like my entire life has been ruined. No matter how hard I try, college just isn't working out—I didn't even get into the major I actually wanted, and now I'm seriously considering dropping out entirely. And if I do that, what am I supposed to do with my high school diploma😢? I should have been a senior by now, but I haven't even finished my freshman year... Plus, my other passion, horseback riding, is totally out of reach because of money, and I don't even have a place to go to practice. It feels absolutely terrible sometimes🤦, especially when I consider that I haven't had a boyfriend to support me for a whole year now...

Because of all of this, my parents have lost all faith in me. I'm not living in my apartment in Chicago anymore where I used to visit my grandma every single day; instead, my dad picked me up and drove me back to his place in some godforsaken rural town. They claim it's "until I calm down and get healthy"... and now I'm just sitting here, day after day, losing my mind.🕺

restlesstrucker15 said:I have found that sometimes I’ll read up on a specific medication, only for my psychiatrist to immediately shut it down, claiming it isn't a good fit for me. They essentially run through my entire medical history and remind me which chemical balances they can and cannot touch. Because of that, I truly believe there is immense value in sticking with one psychiatrist who deeply understands your unique neurochemistry. My doctor once explained it to me this way: if she were to adjust my norepinephrine levels, it might feel less like a stabilizer and more like I had just taken speed. While that might be fine for some people, it isn't for me. Generally speaking, I’d say anything that spikes dopamine and norepinephrine will lift someone out of a depressive state, but if your primary diagnosis is anxiety or panic disorders, I would advise staying far away from those types of stimulants.
You really need to provide a detailed breakdown of exactly what side effects you're experiencing with your pills and what kind of emotional state you're actually aiming for. There is a good chance half of your issues could be resolved through psychotherapy, but I am also convinced that an Ad can help with at least 50 percent of the struggle.
Can you tell me how you ended up feeling so poisoned by them? It sounds like you might have been prescribed a dose of Seroquel that was simply too heavy for you.

Skickas FR

It wasn't necessarily too strong; I was on 100mg back then, and now I'm at 300mg. I simply hadn't slept at all for three days straight because I didn't have any medication on hand. Once I finally got my prescription, I kept taking it hoping to pass out, but I couldn't fall asleep at all—instead, I just ended up poisoning myself.

I’ve managed to find a few pen pals myself. One of the first people to reach out was zoki89, who actually shared some helpful advice 👍. Since then, I've connected with a handful of others, though we haven't exactly maintained long-term contact. That said, I would really love to have someone to talk to—just to share a few thoughts when things get rough or even when life is going well. I find that guys are generally more interesting to talk to, I guess; I've never really been one to hang out with girls, but honestly, gender isn't the most important thing to me. I'm pretty well known on this forum for my insomnia and, lately, my struggles with depression, so maybe I can offer some perspective on medication as well... Age isn't a huge deal, though I suppose young people tend to understand each other a bit better. Anyway, I'm 23 years old...

Brandon Lopez6 said:I haven't heard of anyone being able to call dibs on specific meds. Like, sure, you can say "I need something stronger," but asking for one specific brand by name? Probably not gonna fly.

Well, in my experience, that isn't necessarily true. I've been treated by several different doctors, and I know for a fact that I've requested specific brands before. For instance, I asked for Ambien and received it. When I needed something for anxiety, they’d suggest Xanax, but I’d refuse because it tastes terrible and ask for Ativan instead. I’ve requested Mirataz, declined taking Prozac again, turned down Lexapro, and specifically mentioned that Amyzol worked best for me, which led to it being added back to my treatment plan. I even requested Quetiapine and eventually got it after a while. I suppose it might be possible to ask for a slightly stronger Ad by name, too, though I don't happen to know all the specific names off the top of my head...

Could someone please tell me what one of the most potent antidepressants is? I need something actually effective. I’ve been taking Coaxil since October 30th, three times a day, and while I feel just a tiny bit better, my mind is still racing with suicidal thoughts. It’s especially bad now after I accidentally overdosed on Seroquel and Misar and nearly died. I have a follow-up appointment on the 16th, and I really want to ask for a stronger Ad because these current steps feel completely useless; they might even be doing more harm than good without some serious support. 😢 ... I am fully aware of my situation and why I’m depressed, but medication can’t fix the underlying cause—it can only block those intrusive thoughts. I’m supposed to start working at the beginning of the year, but I haven't heard of any dead people holding down jobs. ☕
Psychotropic medication discussion thread in Psychology & Therapy ·
Could someone please be polite enough to actually answer my questions regarding Coaxil and Seroquel? I need to know how they work, what kind of side effects to expect, when they kick in, and just how potent they really are. I was prescribed them because of a MASSIVE depressive episode involving psychotic features—though, if I’m being honest, that label feels like a bit of an exaggeration since you can't exactly get Quetiapine just for dealing with insomnia and depression...

I feel absolutely terrible right now. I’ve started having those "dark thoughts," as the doctors call them, and I am honestly desperate enough to try anything. Which medication is the strongest? Which one is actually going to pull me out of this? I just can't keep going on like this...

If you want to organize something, just coordinate with people in your own area and put that in the title. It really isn't that complicated, is it? 🕺

I wouldn't exactly say everyone is from the big cities; honestly, this feels more like blatant discrimination to me... but whatever, go ahead and hold your little meetings.

Can anyone tell me anything about Coaxil? I’ve been taking it for months now and things haven't improved at all—in fact, everything just keeps getting worse and worse and worse. Honestly, I feel like I might just intentionally mess things up this time because I have zero desire to live anymore. Screw these ads! Please, just give me some advice on the strongest alternative I can ask for, because this stuff feels like absolute garbage to me... I can't tolerate this any longer. Either someone changes my prescription or they send me straight to a psychiatric ward, because if I don't get help, I might actually lash out at someone from how incredibly nervous and agitated I am. 🙂

Kevin Bailey2 said:I actually walked into an exam while my Xanax was still kicking in. I have zero clue what kind of nonsense I was rambling about, but I do know one of the toughest professors on campus was absolutely cracking up. He ended up giving me an A.

I once wrote a philosophy essay for a state competition while high on Misar. I have zero memory of what I actually wrote, but somehow I made it to the regional finals and took first place.🤣
I did the exact same thing during my college entrance exams for philosophy; whenever there was an essay to write, I’d just pop some Misar, and I'd walk away with a decent passing grade.🙂
