hiddeneagle98 said:Trying to shift the blame onto Americans while Russia is actively tearing Ukraine apart is just a way to excuse the Russians, no matter how much you scream in all caps that you aren't doing that. In reality, that is exactly what you're doing.

People didn't give a damn about Iraq when it was actually happening, but suddenly everyone is an expert on the "bigger picture" and deeply concerned about Iraq when it serves as a convenient excuse to downplay Russian aggression.

We see right through you. You're just here to provide cover for the Russians. Every time they pull some absolute bullshit, you're right there ready to swoop in with your "big picture" perspective to make sure they aren't held accountable.

Honestly, you just seem a little immature—especially since you keep using "we"... who is this collective "we" you think you represent?
Just you.
Sorry, I'm not going to sink to that level...
I respect any argument that's actually backed by facts, including yours...
Maybe re-read what I wrote... or don't. Whatever.
As far as I'm concerned, this debate is over.

The trolling antics never seem to end, do they?

First, you have to establish the premise that both Russia and the USA are equally shady

And only then do you aggressively pivot to claiming the Americans are even worse.

Only someone truly sharp can see through that logic.

I’m not quite following you... are you saying I don't have a right to my own opinion?
After watching a million deep dives, strategic breakdowns, listening to generals, experts, professors, looking at historical facts... and keeping up with this forum, yeah, I do.
My whole thing is taking all those little puzzle pieces and putting them together to figure out what the big picture looks like.
And I’ve already laid out my conclusion clearly! Honestly, if you get what I mean, I really don't care what everyone else thinks about it...
I choose what matters to me.
But let me be crystal clear: absolutely NOTHING and NEVER justifies Russia's crimes, their invasion of a sovereign nation, or the pure nastiness they're bringing to this war.

They work, don't you worry... it just takes a little while...
I mean, let's be real, nobody is more of a bully than the USA...
If we're being totally honest, once this all settles how it's supposed to, we should just tell them all where to shove it and focus on getting stronger within the Union...
The Russians and the Americans are both terrible choices...
It's just a matter of which set of evils you're forced to pick from...
The USA is the main one to blame for all this mess, period! No debate!
Just listen to that Nulandicu-fuck EU. That's enough smarts for one day.

Most of that vodka actually comes from Finland. There was already a mess with that because consumers started boycotting it left and right without even realizing it wasn't even Russian.
Not sure about the timber situation.
With SWIFT, they managed to get it so that less than 50% of Finnish institutions are under sanctions.

Russia got kicked out of the UN Human Rights Council. I mean, they probably don't give a damn about that though...

This whole "step-by-step" approach just isn't working, I guess. You really gotta squeeze them hard if you want anything to happen.

I actually think the exact opposite...
Every single sanction has its own ripple effect over time... it gives the opponent room to figure out the total damage and reorganize their goals. It's not an instant knockout blow, which could be super awkward for the "survival of Russia."
Plus, we've realized so many times before that certain people actually *want* Russia weakened like this—to prevent all this blood being spilled in Ukraine—so that the situation doesn't repeat itself in a few years and Russia somehow finds a weird way to toughen up and try again...
This war is all about attrition. In my opinion, Putin knows exactly what each sanction pulls him toward and exactly how much he's willing to endure... He isn't stupid, he isn't uninformed, and he isn't crazy. Tactics aren't his strong suit, but giving up? No way!
He’s going all the way, or settling for some hollow victory just to justify starting the war in the first place.
His chances are slim to none, so we just have to wait and pray that Ukraine stays well-equipped and brave... this isn't just going to stop overnight. When Biden says—ENOUGH, then it'll be enough.☕

Don't bother stressing them out even slightly; they aren't operating at that level. Politics has dragged the Russian Federation down to a point where their military, while moving through neighboring countries, resorts to looting white goods as war booty. That is the standard they are playing at.

Look, that's just how everyone operates when there's a war going on and an opportunity presents itself... I mean, I've heard so many stories from folks back in the DR about people stealing from even their closest friends. It happens, especially during wartime...
But man, the part that I just can't wrap my head around is seeing soldiers abandon their fallen comrades... that is truly beyond comprehension.

I'd love to see Putin's face right about now, especially since even the dimmest bulb in the White House has finally realized that Russia was the one that crossed the red lines—and those European ones are notoriously hard to step over.

Honestly, it scares me even to think about the moment the Russians realize just how badly they messed up...

Bryan Booth82 said:"There is simply no such thing as isolating Russia; trying to pull that off in today's interconnected world is technologically impossible," stated Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov during an interview with the state-run broadcaster Rosi 1, according to reports circulating through Russian news agencies.

Well, look at that—it seems the influence is already starting to take hold even sooner than I had anticipated.👍

Mark Carter14 said:Shipyard halts production: Only 200 workers reporting tomorrow, leaving 1,500 stuck at home

We've been hit by forces beyond our control because of the war in Ukraine. This shipyard is massive—it basically dwarfs the entire American banking sector—and we're currently financing the construction of two vessels, the Golden Horizon and the Janssonius, using funds from VTB Europe, a Russian-owned bank based out of New York City. Because its parent company is VTB Russia, they're now subject to those heavy restrictions and sanctions recently slapped on them due to the situation in Ukraine. It’s an incredibly dramatic spot to be in. VTB has frozen all further disbursements on all loans because of the conflict, which has left us completely paralyzed, said Debeljak.

In his interview, Debeljak mentioned that about $65 million of the shipyard's own capital is currently tied up in these projects. They used those funds to bridge the gap while trying to work out a solution with the government, or specifically HBOR, just to make sure the projects themselves don't fall behind schedule.

Anyone who thinks the Russians are the only ones going to suffer clearly doesn't understand how the modern world or the economy actually works.

Nobody thinks that.

The weak guys surrounding him are finally starting to speak up.

Combining all that, I reckon it'll lead to the end of Putin and the end of Russia as we know it.

that's my point exactly! So, a Drljacin scenario might actually work

Is it really impossible that this is just Putin's Take 2?
Not in my book!

I mean, think about it—it’s getting to the stage where Russia actually has to go begging and offer massive discounts to India just to convince them to buy any oil at all.

#Russia Offers Discounts on Oil to India, One of Putin's Few Fuel Buyers

They're talking about slashing prices on Urals crude by as much as $35 a barrel!

Transactions will be routed between Rosneft and Indian Oil

So much for their "strength"...
At this rate, the Russians might as well give it away for free! The whole market is just completely trashed right now.

Peter Sanders4 said:Let's be clear: they aren't getting gas for free. It's up to them to figure out how they want to handle that.

Essentially, the EU has imposed sanctions on itself that every citizen will end up footing the bill for. And if we're being honest, the US was the primary driver here, essentially ordering its loyal EU subordinate to follow suit.

Nope.
And it really isn't.
The fallout was bound to happen—it's totally expected! If playing nice doesn't work, then it's time to step back completely...

It’s just a totally different way of thinking... almost cult-like, honestly, across the board.
Americans aren't anything like the Chinese... or even the Japanese..
The worldview is just fundamentally different. It's all about fighting against corruption from oligarchic circles and this weird obsession with idols, whereas you have these intense economic ambitions. Take China, for example—they realized they needed to use their massive population policy as a tool in the global economic race...
A Chinese person is just going to grind! It's simple math, really—just pure numbers and the civilization gap at work...

Betty Patel172 said:I wouldn't be so broad. Germany carries the heavy weight of WWII history, which limits their ability to act as the sole political leader of a new Europe. This is the moment where nations like France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Poland, and the smaller states need to architect a unified energy policy, a cohesive foreign strategy, and economic alliances to strengthen their collective integrity against everyone—including the Americans, the Russians, and China. For instance, if they decided to cut off gas supplies to Russia, all of Europe would have to react as one unit. Germany needs that gas, but so does Poland, Italy, or maybe Romania. It’s about total cooperation through shared policy. If we have already labeled such actions as aggression, then the question remains: is it true aggression, or is there some nuance we are ignoring?

And honestly, that right there? That should be the ideological foundation for a new power bloc..
Even if everyone ends up dumping a massive amount of cash into military spending, we desperately need to make the European Union sustainable..
Ugh, but man, the corruption and the endless bureaucracy... what a mess.
