An article released by the Federal Reserve has left quite a few people reeling with its assertion that "if the system collapses, the gold stock can serve as a basis to build it up again. Gold bolsters confidence in The stability of The central bank's balance sheet and creates a sense of security."

Honestly, until the petrodollar and the SWIFT system are actually phased out, all these central bank maneuvers are mostly speculative and driven by political posturing. That said, I am personally bracing for a major rally. I wouldn't be surprised to see gold prices surge back toward those 2011 levels when an ounce was trading north of $2,000.

The next big downturn is coming in 2020
